With Judgment Day only three weeks away they have to start quickly building toward the PPV. On Raw Vicky Guerrero announced that the winner of the Big Show vs. Batista match will go on to face Randy Orton for the WWE Championship.
I am guessing that Batista will go over with Cena doing a run in to set up Big Show vs. Cena at Judgment Day and Batista vs. Randy Orton.
Personally, I am not to excited about either. Cena/Big Show has already happened, maybe not recently but The Big Show has no real purpose on RAW. He will just be Vicky's goon.
Then Orton/Batista might be okay, I just don't care for Batista. I just don't see him as a World Title contender.
Well, clearly Judgment Day is going to be headlined by Batista and Orton for the WWE Championship. There's no way I can see Big Show defeating Batista to become #1 contender, and no reason Cena should even show up on Raw at all after Backlash. Batista should go over Show clean. Losing clean to Batista has never hurt anyone.
I also think you'll see Cena take on the Big Show, but given that it's just a few weeks away, maybe they'll keep Cena off TV to add a little more to the PPV by saying Cena returns at Judgment Day. Granted, three weeks is hardly a big absence, but might as well.
The bigger question is what's next for the World Heavyweight Championship? Will we see Punk say on Smackdown! that he is going to cash in and challenge Edge in his hometown at the PPV?
I guess we might see Dreamer get a shot at the ECW Title, maybe even in a triple threat with Christian and Swagger. Technically the Extreme Rules PPV would be after his contract expires. It would've worked a lot better for storyline purposes if Swagger remained champion and even was cocky enough to grant Dreamer an extra day so he can beat him in his own match. Now that Christian is champ, I guess we'll wait and see.
I am just glad the brand split is coming again and that superstars won't be crossing over anymore so we can actually build new, interesting shows that aren't an absolute cluster fuck.
How can you not see him as a World Title contender ?? He's held the belt four times in his career. Coincidentally, he'll be chasing the WWE Championship which he's never held.
Well during Raw they announced a scramble match for SD to see who faces Edge at Judgment Day. I believe the participants were Morrison, J Hardy, Rey, Khali, and Jericho. No idea who is going to win. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Khali. Try and get a push out of him while they can. I think itll be him or Hardy. Batista/Orton rarely has me interested and Show/Cena has no interest from me whatsoever.
Meh, JD is usually a pile of shit. Hopefully it's alright this year.
Cena/Big Show will prolly happen. Likely to be solid, if so. Big Show was only built up to be fed to Cena. So thankfully after a short feud, it'll be over with and he can go job to HHH and all of them.
Batista/Orton finally happens, and I don't care. Problem is, I'm not the majority. People want to see Tista own Orton's ass. Solid main event from that standpoint. It'll be shit though as a match. Both suck and put on borefest after borefest.
Fucking shit, thanks to Will this is my 3rd edit. Apperently the Scramble match is indeed for SD! so therefore my triple threat theory for earlier, I'm sticking with. Jericho wins, Punk cashes in. Triple Threat is your main event.
Swagger vs Christian rematch. Nobody cares.
And I'll go ahead and toss out MVP teaming with Shane to take on Dibiase and Rhodes. With only 2 more RAW's left, what else are MVP, Dibiase and Rhodes going to do? Nothing, so meh why not?
World Heavyweight Championship: Edge (c) v. C.M. Punk: I can see Punk cashing in ahead of time. (ala R.V.D) But instead of being like everyone else, I definitely see Punk making history for being the first guy to hold the MITB case, to cash in and LOSE the Championship match. (Kennedy doesn't count, as he never cashed in)
Edge/Punk, in Punk's home of Chicago should be amazing to see. Punk doesn't need to go over, to get the biggest pop of the night anyways. Edge retaining, if anything, would only further Punk's status with his hometown fans. And it'd continue to create that much more heel heat (as if he didn't already have tons) for Edge.
W.W.E Championship: Randy Orton (c) v. Batista: It's either Batista, or Shane. And while Judgment Day does have the typical profile of a B-show filler.. I just can't see Shane gaining a title shot.. not on p.p.v, maybe on Raw.
Batista, if he hasn't turned heel on Triple H for some reason (yet), should be a shoe-in, to attempt gaining some amount of revenge on Orton for that Punt months ago. Triple H should also likely have a promo, or video of some sort, mentioning being on the injured list for a couple months. (until Summerslam, is my guess)
Grudge Match: John Cena v. The Big Show: How could this match NOT happen after the ending to Backlash? Cena/Big Show isn't great, but in all honesty.. Cena is one of the few men out there, who can make Big Show look truly dominate as a Giant.
And vise versa, Big Show is the only Giant, who can make Cena look amazing in strength, each time Show let's Cena F-U him. I see a DQ ending here, setting up a gimmick match for Extreme Rules, or Great American Bash, or whatever the hell is following this.
Grudge Match: Legacy (c) v. McMahon Family: Why not? Vince & Shane against Legacy is gold written all over it. I'd love this even more, if it were for the Tag Team Championships, though. Shane & Vince deserve to win the Tag titles. They'd do wonders for a very clusterfucked and pathetic Tag division. Honestly.
Right now, we're looking at Batista/Orton for the WWE Title. That's going to suck, because Batista sucks and Orton doesn't carry people to good matches too often. Orton retains.
Also, Big Show and Cena's happening. Has to. They've had great matches in the past. Have had past history with Cena FU'ing Show at WM to win the US Title, his first title.
More than likely a rematch of Swagger and Christian or Christian takes on Kozlov. That's my bet. Kozlov v/s Christian.
And with a scramble on SD for the shot at Edge involving Jeff Hardy, Khali, Rey Mysterio, Morrison, and Chris Jericho...look for a possible Jeff Hardy or Morrison win. Morrison v/s Edge would be great. But Jeff Hardy more than likely gets another shot. Jericho could win it, but I doubt he does.
Also, look for MVP to defend the US Title. I think against Miz.
And more than likely a program with Santino/a and Beth Phoenix.
If things fall in place, could be an OK PPV. Probably won't be though. WWE always puts one match that makes no damn sense.
Orton vs Batista is going to be great for the fans. I'm uninterested, I don't like either of them at all. Orton will do something that impresses me every now and then, but Batista's in-ring work is boooooring. Orton should win here, possibly cleanly, but more likely he'll get helped by his buddies.
Big Show vs Cena grudge match, also an eh match. Somebody mentioned that these two need each other, and I agree with that, too bad they're both boring in the ring.
Edge vs (Winner of scramble match)- I'm assuming since Punk isn't in the scramble match, they're going to be having him do something, or cashing in. I'm leaning towards doing something with Kane, possibly with the briefcase on the line, but I guess we'll find out tonight. Jeff Hardy must win this match, as Mysterio is the IC champ, and Khali is trash. Also, Idk if we're supposed to treat Morrison as a face now, I guess we'll see on Smackdown, but he's not ready for a title feud with Edge. I'm also calling it, Edge retains.
I bet you Santina vs Beth Phoenix is announce, possibly even for the belt if one of them relieves Maryse of the gold.
I also think we might get either an US title or IC title defense on the card, if we're lucky, and a Priceless vs. McMahon grudge match if we're not.
We could get a Maryse vs Beth vs "Ms. Wrestlemania" Santina Marella triple threat for that title (or another possibility is Beth vs Santina for the #1 contender to challenge Maryse). Beth may challenge Maryse for the title then Santina comes out and go on about how she is undefeated and has pinned Beth twice and eliminated her at WM and is more deserving that Beth.
The triple threat option could lead to Santina vs Beth at the ER PPV in an extreme match with Santina finally being un"wigged" and Beth going over and ending the Santino-Beth relationship for good.
Perhaps we will get Punk defending the MiTB briefcase at JD as well with Jericho losing in the scramble then coming out the following week claiming he was screwed out of his WHC shot and is more deserving that Punk. Punk going over Jericho could help build Punk up or he could lose the case and be built up ovr the following months without the case eventually winning the title from Jericho at SS or later. If Jericho were to get the case he could cash in at ER or NOC PPV with an Edge face turn ?!
Orton vs. Batista - There's no way they take the belt off Orton that quickly. If they're really trying to build his character as the top heel on Raw, they need to establish a decent run as champion with a face chasing him. Since Trips looks to be taking some time off, that puts old (literally) Dave as the top face on Raw. Expect Shane O'Mac to be involved in some capacity. I think the "Shane to Legacy" idea is dead since he took Orton to the woodshed with the kendo stick on Raw.
Edge vs. (Winner of scramble) - My guess is Jeff Hardy. Still not sure what they plan on doing with Morrison, but I don't see a face run right off the bat. Unless Punk does some kind of run-in where he cashes his MITB contract for the PPV to swerve the scramble match winner. It's a long shot, but not likely.
Christian vs. Jack Swagger - This has the making to be a pretty decent program on ECW. They need to build Christian up here while not taking away from Swagger's push (if they truly do see him as a potential star). Christian can give Swagger some good rub here with a loss, but when you put that up against killing a possible push for Christian to jump to Smackdown and work some kind of program with Edge in the future, keeping the belt on Captain Charisma seems to be the right move until right before he moves, then have him drop it indirectly (the over-used Triple Threat match?).
Punk vs. Kane - The Punk/Kane issue isn't over yet, and since both of them are on Smackdown now, it will move with them. I think, as mentioned earlier, it will be a match for the MITB contract, but I can't see Kane getting it. I don't see him making another title run at this point.
Mysterio vs. Jericho - Did anyone else notice that on the night of the draft, when they announced Mysterio as going to Smackdown, it was when Jericho won his match to give SD the pick. And when Mysterio came out, Jericho looked at him with a glare that hinted at a feud. That could be a pretty decent IC title feud.
Cena vs. Big Show - It's gonna happen, and it will be some kind of gimmick match (cage?). The whole retribution thing on both sides. And, until hell freezes over, Cena will prevail because he's the marketable face of the WWE right now. Despite Cena's drawbacks, he's pretty good on the mic. So, expect Cena to win in some kind of monster, Hulk Hogan-comeback style.
Priceless vs. the Colons - They need to put Priceless back into the tag title chase and not just serving as Orton's stooges. They have potential. I think they could have a pretty good program with the Colons, who need someone to give them some good rub right now despite being the unified champs. They have no reaction right now.
MVP vs. The Miz - I know Miz did the call-out thing on Cena Monday night, but IMO that was just a way to build his heel character up a little since he's new to Raw. Some have called for Miz to be in the WWE Title chase, but that's just not feasible right now. He'd be overshadowed. I agree with the whole "Miz is the new JBL" argument, and putting him in a feud with MVP would help both guys. I'd pick MVP to retain here, but possibly drop the US title to Miz down the road.
I don't care about the Divas division, so I don't know about matches there. The only good Divas competitors are Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Melina and Gail Kim. The others are just eye candy with minimal wrestling skills, IMO.
I know it's not going to happen, but shouldn't we technically see John Cena invoke a rematch clause against edge? Just to follow logical story progression?
Or are we going to just keep quiet about that and conveniently pretend that he doesn't get one, because we've seen enough edge vs cena, and a cena move to smackdown if he wins doesn't seem to be in the cards?
Not going to happen. They pulled the belt off Cena for what seems to be a couple of reasons - 1) To give SD a title belt; and 2) To possibly give Cena a breather for a while. There's been talk of limiting the cross-brand matches after this draft (which I am in favor of if they want to truly run with a "tri-brand" mindset). Plus, Big Show coming out and slamming Cena into the spotlight kinda takes the heat off the Cena-Edge program, allowing Edge to return to Smackdown and defend the belt there while Cena takes a backseat for a while and looks to work a program with Big Show on Raw. Cena-Edge is a good feud, but it needs to be put aside for a while.
Judgement Day may not look interesting on the Raw side, but SmackDown could be nice.
WWE Championship- Orton (C) vs Batista- Batista will extract revenge but I'm thinking a DQ finish and Orton retaining but nothing entertaining.
WHC Championship- Edge (C) vs Jeff- Jeffwill put on a nice show, but with his contract coming up, he won't win it and Edge will find a way to cheat and retain I'm sure.
Cena vs Big Show- I wanna say Cena will win as he is SUPERMAN, but a Big Show win may not be surprising to see Show win since he's been so dominant lately with clean wins over Cena and Undertaker.
Tag Title Championship- Carlito and Primo (C) vs DiBiase and Rhodes- I can see a feud starting up and Priceless wants gold to go with Ortons to build their Legacy. Interesting to see what goes on here.
IC Championship- Rey (C) vs Jericho- looks like a feud may start up and this would be a great match and a great direction for both these guys to go.
CM Punk vs Kane- this feud is def not over yet and something will happen just to keep it going on even one more month or so. Punk may win by DQ and maybe a gimmick match will end it
ECW Championship- Christian (C) vs Swagger- Christian will retain but I think Swagger will look a lot more dominant than before but I can't see this feud ending just yet.
Not sure what will happen with MVP but God I sure hope he gets on the card and perhaps one of the women's titles will be on the line, but they might as well unify those as well.
From the look of this weeks Smackdown Judgement Day is going to have a fucking awesome undercard. Batista vs. Orton will go on last, but I'm confident that everything before it will be awesome.
Rey Mysterio vs. Edge. It was a disappointment last year, but the ending of the Elimination Chamber showed how good this could be. I thought Rey should have been added to the triple threat match at Mania, instead of in the IC title match.
It looks like Punk will face Umaga. Should be fucking brilliant.
I'm even looking forward to the possibility of Jericho vs. Morrison.

I read Jeff Hardy wins, not Rey Mysterio. Which means it'll be Edge defending his strap against Jeff Hardy. This of course is horrible.
Matt is the better of the two brothers, who can put on great matches with Edge. You mix that, with the knowledge floating around that Jeff is bound to leave in a couple months.. and this is one big squash match in favor of Edge.
Finally, this Pay per view is happening in Chicago. Punk's hometown. NOT having Punk involved with arguably the best heel (not to mention Heavyweight Champion) in the business, is a big mistake. Especially if the turn around is another single's match against a guy twice Punk's size.. that'll likely squash Punk, similar to Kane, with a thumb to the throat.
I would LOVE to see Morrison/Jericho, but somehow Mysterio and the Intercontintental Championship being added would make for a far greater Triple Threat, as well as future DVD I.C. title match. Morrison would be a decent dark horse to take the strap, and carry it again as well.
I want to first say that I hope Judgment Day is a good show because I'll be in Chicago for the event with a couple friends. Also, I really hope Undertaker will be there, but its not looking as though they are building any storyline for him right now, but idk how they can leave him off ppv for two months in a row after his great Wrestlemania match unless he is injuried or as asked for some time off. So I'm in agreement with most of you guys in what we'll see.
WWE Championship
Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista - This match has the potential to be good, but nothing great. I'm a Randy Orton fan so that makes this match better. Triple H will have some kind of interfence, but I see Orton getting the win.
World Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs. Jeff Hardy - This match will most likely be the match of the night. Both men are exciting in the ring. I was thinking last night that this would make a great ladder match, but I really don't see it happening. IF it was a ladder match I could see CM Punk coming in and cashing in the Money in the Bank. I've read the spoilers, so idk whats going on with the Money in the Bank but I'll say he keeps it. Either Edge retains or CM Punk.
ECW Championship
Christian (c) vs. Jack Swagger - From what I've read, their match at Backlash was good so I hope they have another one good live. Christian retains though.
Cena vs. Big Show - I predicted this match before Backlash when thinking of what matches were going to happen at Judgment Day along with the WWE Championship match. Idk about this match, I hope its beter live than on paper because the Chicago crowd is not into Cena and the Big Show is so boring. Cena wins or if he is taking time off for a movie, Big Show wins with his knockout punch.
Tag Team Championship
The Colons (c) vs. Legacy - With the singles match on Superstars, its likely there will be some sort of build up to this match, likely happening at Judgment Day. I noticed the Colons got zero reaction on Raw this week. Legacy with the win to have all three members with titles.
US Championship
MVP (c) vs. The Miz - Both seem to be getting pushed on Raw and the crowd has been all about MVP so I could see this being a good match that could go either way with whoever they want to push more.
Morrison vs. Jericho - I really like the looks of this match as I think Morrison should be getting a big push, however I would rather see Undertaker vs. Jericho. It would work as a transition for Jericho with his whole legends are washed up thing and have Taker wrestle him.
Divas Championship
Maryse (c) vs. Santina vs. Beth Phoenix - God I hope this match doesn't happen, especially if they chose to have this over a Undertaker match but it looks likely. Boring chants will likely happen.
Overall the show has potential, especially with the Edge vs. Jeff Hardy match and the fact that live Chicago crowds are always hot. Undertaker being there would definately add to the show, so we'll see.
Confirmed matches:
-Batista vs. Orton
-Edge vs. Jeff
-Christian vs. Swagger
Matches that look likely:
-Punk vs. Umaga
-Big Show vs. Cena
-JoMo vs. Jericho
-The Colons vs. Priceless
Filler?:
-Miz vs. MVP
-Rey vs. Shelton
Considering Chicago normally gives us a hot crowd and I like the looks of the main events (tested combinations, underrated by some) and the three teased singles matches, I could see this being a DVD purchase for me. Heck, I like tag wrestling enough that WWE giving us a proper tag match would be icing on the cake for me.
The last two are just the only logical ways I can see to fill out this card.
One point of note: Jeff squashed the rumors of him leaving. It won't be an easy win for Edge.
I think the card looks good so far, and the addition of a Punk vs Umaga match could sell it for me.
Huge fan of punk and i enjoy Umaga as not only a big man but a wrestler...meaning i dont consider him "good for a big man" hes good period.
I hope they keep it like backlash and only have 6 matches with limited Backstage shit. I think one of the reasons backlash was so great, besides each belt switching hands, was the matches actually *gasp* had more then 10 minutes.
Well looks like were looking at a feud with Jericho and Mysterio as the belt is not on the line at Judgement day im seeing a 3 or 4 pay-per view feud eventually with Jericho with the strap at the end.
WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs. Batista
--Could be good, could be terrible. The best thing for them to do here is have Orton squeak out a win with a quick RKO, in my opinion. A clean win for him would help him out, but he doesn't need to dominate, as that should be Batista's job. It should be more about Orton being the smarter of the two. I don't want to see Legacy interfere, as that always negates whoever someone helps out and makes them look inadequate. And I'm hoping that HHH doesn't interfere, and if by some stupid chance he does, its him starting a program with Batista, not Orton. I would rather have HHH turn heel than Batista, as HHH needs the heel turn more, and I'm so fucking tired of seeing HHH/Orton. If they want HHH to interfere, I don't think it will be at Judgment Day, but rather, at Extreme Rules. Either way, Orton is retaining in some fashion.
World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs. Jeff Hardy
--Edge is definitely retaining. Hardy may be leaving, so this is probably their way of giving Edge some extra heat before he leaves. They have a rematch at Extreme Rules, which Hardy loses again, and then Edge moves on to feud with someone like Punk. Should be a decent match.
ECW Championship: Christian vs. Jack Swagger
--This is a bit tricky, as it depends more on what they're doing with Tommy Dreamer. I don't know if they would really have Swagger win the title back from Christian so soon just so he can beat Dreamer and get some extra heat, or if they'll do Christian/Dreamer again and just hope that Christian doesn't get booed too much, or if they'll do a triple threat. I'd say Christian retains, and they go the triple threat route, with Dreamer coming up short at Extreme Rules, and becoming the GM instead.
Intercontinental Championship: Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho
--Hm. Mysterio's retaining, but I'm not sure where this goes. Actually, Jericho may win the title just for kicks, and then drop it to someone like Morrison. Idk.
John Cena vs. The Big Show
--I don't care about this.
John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin
--SWEET. Two of my favorite guys to watch, actually getting ppv time for a feud that I thought was going to bomb because they weren't giving them enough to do. I really hope that they just tear the place up.
CM Punk vs. Umaga
--This is a bit confusing, as they haven't had much of a build or purpose for this yet, and it doesn't look like it will be a long term feud. My guess is Umaga destroys Punk here and they have a rematch at Extreme Rules where Punk comes out on top.
Not a fan of either. Actually, I lie. I like Shelton Benjamin. I just think he's shit. Should be s hort, sloppy, opening match. It's good that they're pushing new talent. Dumb that they're pushing Morrison as a face without him having a good talker as his first heel opponent.
WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Batista
Orton will win, there's no other result here. Should be fine.
World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Jeff Hardy
I think Edge's run of a won or lost title each PPV comes to an end tonight. Punk won't cash in the MITB and Jaff won't win. Should be a good match, but it won't have the intresting ending that their Rumble match had.
ECW Champion Christian vs. Jack Swagger
At least Christian is over.
John Cena vs. Big Show
I think this will be awful. Why? Because I think Big Show & Cena are awful. Logic, you see.
Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho
Should be a good little match. None title? Yeah, Jericho wins.
CM Punk vs. Umaga
A match I'm looking forward to. Shame it'll be an Umaga squash.
Overall - Could be a good show, probably won't be.
Could not disagree more with Jake. This has all the potential to be a wonderful PPV. It's essentially Wrestlemania (which was shit) come a little late. Magnificent stuff, and full marks to Smackdown creative in particular, who have been in superb form as of late. Of the matches -
I thoroughly expect Morrison/Benjamin to be a brief classic. Both, especially Morrison, are wrestling so well as of late: wonderful technicians doing impossible moves who hardly ever botch. The crowd looks to be behind Morrison's face turn (either that or SD has had some REALLY heavy editing), so I expect him to go over cleanly here. Shit, even I marked the FUCK out for that spinning moonsault last night. Though possibly they'll book some bullshit finish and finish the feud at One Night Stand. Depends on how long Rey and Jericho want to feud for, I guess.
Orton/Batista - the only genuinely "meh" match on the card. Batista sucks. Slow, boring, and predictable as fuck in the ring. The two don't really work all that well together and this match got done at Armageddon anyway. Orton retains.
Edge/Hardy - Edge does not have bad matches, and if Hardy really is taking time off, he'll want to pull out all the stops in an effort to convince Vince he should have his spot back when he returns. Even if he's staying Edge retains here: this card is so good the PPV should sell without title changes, and if Hardy is sticking around and they put the belt on him, it will happen at ONS, not here. Should be excellent.
Cena/Big Show - ok, won't be a great match, but might be OK. Cena is a great worker and he will bust his ass off to try and get something passable out of Big Show. Such a pity I don't care about the result.
Rey/Jericho - should be absolutely tremendous. Jericho to go over: either that, or they book another bullshit finish and complete the feud at ONS. It kind of sucks that Jericho's promos have been all about how he's going for the IC title just because he wants to fuck Rey over after Rey took away his shot at the WHC - not because he actually wants the belt - but whatever. Jericho to make it 9, either here or at ONS, and to then feud with Morrison.
Christian/Swagger - again, should be another great match from two top workers. Christian to retain, they have to start using Kozlov at some stage. Maybe a dodgy finish so they can have a final blowoff rematch at ONS.
Punk/Umaga - oh, damn. I am an enormous Umaga fan, but if they want Punk's eventual title reign to be at all credible, they have to put him over here, as they should have done in the Kane match at Backlash. Umaga is too good to be jobbing to Punk, though, who I don't see cashing in for some reason.
It's nice to see for a change that WWE can produce a PPV without having to rely on Taker, Shawn or HHH.Decent on paper, could turn out good, to great.High hopes for Morrison-Benjamin, Rey Rey-Y2J and Edge-Hardy.The dark horse match here is Punk-Umaga, but seeing as how Punk had good matches with Samoa Joe, i expect this one too to be at least decent.Orton-Batista and Cena-Show don't interest me that much.
There really isn't a single match on the card that looks all that appealing to me, Morrison/Shelton I already explained why in the LD
Orton/Batista looks like shit, though I expect this match to go on last since I'm expecting Triple H to return and cost Batista the title setting up the eventual triple threat match,
Edge/Jeff, well I despise Jeff Hardy and if Edge loses the title then it just makes him further look worthless when it comes to being a champion, not to mention we've seen these two fight god knows how many times through out their careers, it's getting a bit old,
Christian/Swagger, is just meh, I acctually forgot all about this match until I just looked at the card, kinda hope Swagger takes the belt back, just to piss off all the annoying "Peeps" out there,
Cena/Show, yet another match we've seen done to death, we all know how this one is going to end, Cena is going to sell being hurt till the end then some how miraculously hit an FU and possibly lock in the STF for the win, just like he does almost every fucking time these two meet in the ring,
Myterio/Jericho, what is the point of Jericho fighting for the IC title, the guy should be going after the WHC, as for these two having a match, it woulda been great like 10 years ago, but Myterio is way too far past his prime to put on the 5 star classic I'm sure everyone is expecting, this match will be another epic let down IMO,
and Finally Punk/Umaga this might just be the best match on the card IMO, hopefully it leads to Umaga destroying Punk so he can't cash in his MITB shot, kinda wish he'd put the briefcase on the line though, I'd rather see someone like Umaga carry the it around than Punk, overall on paper the PPV looks great at first glance but the more you look into the matches the possibility of let down after letdown becomes more apparent
While it's not something we didn't see overly shoved down our throats back in 2004-05, I firmly believe this match-up will be the best yet between the two men. Orton has progressed much further as a heel, and this time around he isn't trying to get over with the fans - he's trying to be as hated as possible. On the flip side, Batista isn't a lackey (well, he is, but isn't) anymore.
No way Orton drops this match by anything other than Count-out or Disqualification. Batista's rage will overcome him and likely be the downfall in this contest for him. An outside factor of Triple H returning has been hinted at by the I.W.C, but personally I don't think any type of run-in will happen at all. I think Batista just blows his lid, and Orton capitalizes.. followed up with a returning H.B.K on Monday Night, tomorrow. Regardless, Orton retains his Championship tonight.
World Heavyweight Championship:Edge (c) v. Jeff Hardy:
I just read the most depressing rumor, and I'm honestly gonna go insane if the shit happens.
According to the Main page, Edge is going to DROP the Championship to Hardy tonight - setting up a T.L.C/Ladder match, rematch in which Edge likely wins the title back for the 10th time.
This rumor is set in place by a couple commercials airing in New Orleans, (site of One Night Stand - I guess) in which Hardy has the title and says he'll walk in, and out, the Champion.
The rumor not-withstanding, I still firmly have my own opinion and hope of tonight's match. I believe Edge retains his Championship and proves that he can once again hold a Championship beyond a single month. I'm with Justin, in this example. Hardy is a worthless piece of shit and only good for one thing - leaping off high objects.
If Edge drops the title to Hardy, without ANY reason other than simply losing out of not being better then what's the point of continuing to push him? Not to mention, what the fuck is the point of continuing to push Hardy - a guy who's said countless times over that he doesn't enjoy this business, and wants to leave it. Give the whiny bitch his wish, and fire him once and for all.
The last thing I'll say is this; Edge COULD drop the Championship via a Punk distraction. Smackdown has been running Punk's happy ass out everytime Edge is wrestling it seems. So who's to say Punk's music doesn't kick up, distracting Edge (and popping the hometown crowd of Chicago like fucking nuts) allowing Hardy to win. Yeah, I think I'm calling THAT finish right now.
E.C.W Championship:Christian (c) v. Jack Swagger:
I'm still honestly in a bit of shock over this not being a Triple Threat w/ Tommy Dreamer. According to Tiffany on E.C.W, if either guy put their hands on the other they'd suffer consequences. Well, Christian hit Swagger - so what's the consequence? Perhaps suddenly adding Dreamer at last minute??
If this is another single's match, I see NO reason why Swagger wins in any fashion. Christian has been the face of E.C.W since returning, but Swagger will be the future. Funny thing about the future, you don't need to hold the title to be impressive. This match will go a long way for Swagger, to continue putting on great showings. I expect nothing less than the same type of good match-up they had at Backlash.
Grudge Match:John Cena v. The Big Show:
Once again, up until Monday's Raw they had a perfect set-up storyline for Big Show to dominate and win this contest without any question. Now, I'm questioning it.. but not because I should be, because the W.W.E are fucking ******s at times with how they push storylines.
Cena went through a search-light. He was then completely destroyed by Big Show a week later.. suddenly, Cena has strength and controls Miz without any type of "injury" hindering him?!?! Yes, Miz laid Cena out.. but not before Cena completely mopped the floor with him then got distracted.
So I say this.. Big Show needs to once again be DOMINATE in this match-up, ending with Cena not being able to continue and the match being awarded to Show.. setting up a rematch, gimmick match, in which Cena then wins and overcomes the odds. IF Cena wins this contest, you might as well wrap up what's left of trying to make Big Show even remotely believable as a Heavyweight worth anything.. and not just another tall, fat ass jobber.
Big Show should win. Doesn't mean Cena won't.
Intercontinental Championship:Rey Mysterio (c) v. Chris Jericho:
Reports are running around that Mysterio is going to lose the mask. More reports are than Mysterio will do so, after putting it on the line to get a rematch for the Intercontinental title. Well, in order for this to happen - he'd have to first, lose the title.
If the mask storyline is going to come into play, the perfect set-up finish would be Jericho ripping the mask half way (or all the way) off, having Mysterio caring more about his face being covered than retaining his Championship - thus allowing a Code Breaker and new Champion.
I could care less who wins, this will be the match of the night in my opinion. Both men know how to work with each other, and I'm excited to see it.
C.M Punk v. Umaga:
Hometown hero against the Samoan Bulldozer. I'm looking forward to this contest, but I don't think it'll be anything more than Umaga squashing Punk and either picking up a victory, or somehow screwing up at the end and letting Punk win in his hometown.
Someone set-up a perfect finish for this match; basically having Umaga destroy Punk, but going up for a diving headbutt, only to get crotched on the ropes and then put in the G.T.S allowing Punk to win after being roughly destroyed. While that sounds perfect, the thing is I think the Company is trying to make Punk look stronger, not weaker.
Either way, I love Umaga and I'm wanting Punk to succeed this year (for some reason) so I'm hoping for a good match. I still think Umaga wins though.
Shelton Benjamin v. John Morrison:
This is the birth-baby of the new W.W.E Superstars show it seems. Morrison & Benjamin have been feuding since Morrison went to Smackdown, but their encounters seem to be taking place on the new W.W.E show on W.G.N America. So, am I to believe they're pushing Morrison as a face!? WHY!? He isn't a face.
This should be a great match-up, as both men know how to Wrestle.. but neither can honestly tell a great "story" so it's likely nothing more than spot after spot after spot. Morrison should win, unless they're building the return of the "World's Greatest Tag Team" and trying to find Morrison someone else to build up from nothing. (aka the next Miz)
