I Am The One Who Knocks
John%20Ritter.JPG

John Ritter, my favorite actor. A man who is so funny, so talented, and so underrated. The man has been in some great stuff ranging from Three's Company, Three's A Crowd, It, Sling Blade, Bad Santa, 8 Simple Rules, Clifford The Big Red Dog (which he received two Emmy nods for), Problem Child. Problem Child 2, and many other bit parts where he just stole the show. His untimely death left me hurting. However his memory still lives on. Three's Company is STILL played in syndication even in the year 2010. Everything he was in, was just that much better because of him.

Now, onto your opinion. Was John Ritter underrated? Was he overrated? Or was he rated correctly? Just be gentle with me now, I may cry...

I'd say that he is neither overrated nor underrated because he was in a lot of great roles and people still remember some of them. The best was his role as Jack in Three's Company, a show that never gets old. He could possibly have gotten a little more recognition, but he was funny and I'm sure a lot of people would agree, so I think he is rated correctly.

Hmm this is a tough one. At first I was thinking that John Ritter was rated correctly, but then after thinking about it more I think he was underrated. The guy in my opinion is a fucking legend in the TV industry. I remember John as Jack Tripper in Three's Company. And that show is way before my time. Yet it is easily one of my all time favorite shows and I can watch any day of the week. The show is continually shown on TV Land and ran previously on Nick at Nite. Shows how much of an impact the show has had. Then there is the role in 8 simple rules as Paul Hennessey. This is the role I remember John Ritter in and then saying "holy cow, that is the guy from Three's Company". I love him on 8 Simple Rules and when he tragically passed away the show went down hill. I remember seeing the Breaking News report on the news that John Ritter had passed and I broke down in tears. The guy is a legend and people should really watch his work and get a grasp of how great an actor and how funny a person he was.

John Ritter will go down as a revolutionary of modern physical comedy, as well as witty humor. Ritter was versatile and could play roles at a whim. His only 'bad' comedy was his short lived sitcom with Markie Post on CBS in the early to mid 90's. I can't think of the name, but it wasn't his best work. But Threes Company and 8 Simple Rules were some of his best roles, yet they were vastly different.

Jack Tripper was a man who couldn't catch a break and was always being beat up, caught in sticky situations or misunderstanding one of his roommates. It was hilarious. Yet in 8 Simple Rules, he played the overbearing dad card well. And to be honest, if Ritter wouldn't have passed away during the show's run, I could see that show being strong for many years. Alas, 8 Simple Rules couldn't make it with David Spade and James Garner.

John Ritter will go down as an icon in television. He's vastly underrated because he's not as appreciated as he should be. He made simple comedy very funny.

I would say that Mr. Ritter is rated correctly. He was never overrated, or called the greatest actor ever, but he was loved as a sitcom actor, and he was fairly decent in his movie roles. He was funny without being over the top, and he was able to play whatever role was handed to him.

I should go watch some Three's Company now...

OK wow. A topic on probably one of my favourite actors ever.

I was only 6 when I saw him work for the first time and that was on the first Problem Child movie, I always thought he was very funny. My parents told me he was in a very popular show in the '70s called Three's Company but obviously with the show not available in Europe, I had to wait 9 years to watch it! I got myself the first season on DVD and loved him throughout, I was glad to see him on 8 Simple Rules it became my favourite show when I was 14 cause of him & Katey Sagal, but everytime I watched him man did he make me laugh.. Like someone on here said, he was funny without going over the top.

He will always be remembered and I will always consider him one of the best actors of all time!

Yeah they could of brought in Will Smith and Jim Carrery and the show would still not survive. That was Ritter's show and sadly when he died so did the television series. But he was a decent actor and funny guy. Three's Company was great and one of the best tv shows ever.

John Ritter was somewhat underrated. The guy was pure magic on the screen as Jack Tripper or whomever character he played in movies or other tv shows. He was a great actor and did a lot of physical comedy. Three's Company is my all time favorite TV show which lasted 8 great seasons and although it was sad to see it end I got pleasure and laughter of seeing John in Problem Child 1 and 2 and other movies. Whenever I'm having a bad day I always pop in my Three's Company dvd and I know that'll make me forget my worries while enjoying a great comdey show with a great talent.

While I'd love to say he was underrated, I think the better answer is that he's rated perfectly. He's definitely not overrated. I think everyone who has had the pleasure to watch John acknowledges how good of an actor he is. I've never seen him be overly praised, however, and I'd say he's borderline underrated. I think everyone ranks him very highly and knows he can act well, but they don't pass that line. He's an actor that we all recognize as being a terrific guy and actor, but I don't think he gets too praised, thus he's rated about right.

I love John Ritter. He's great. I think his brightest moments were in Three's Company, but his success wasn't limited to that. He played in several shows were he was a key part, and did well. I regard him as one of my favorite actors of all time. He is just charming on screen, and natural. Any character he played, he made it lovable. He had such a charisma about him that was a joy to watch.

Whilst I love John Ritter, my bias isn't going to influence what I think is the more correct position. Alas, I'm saying Ritter was rated correctly.
