John Morrison's Time to Shine?

It's...Baylariat!

Team Finnley Baylor
There are many threads and a fan club dedicated to the "Shaman of Sexy". Now, he's moved to the next level. He's on one of the big two shows and is on his own as a single's competitor. I think this is the time where we see Morrison become the Superstar of the Year in the WWE for 2009.

We can talk about Matt Hardy all we want to. Morrison's the most charismatic superstar on Smackdown. Imagine him in feuds with Rey Mysterio, Undertaker, and CM Punk. Morrison has the potential to be pushed to the moon.

I truly believe the WWE pushed their chips in the middle of the table as far as Morrison's concerned. He'll either win the hand or bust. I see him winning the hand. Hopefully, we see a World title reign in his future.

I wonder if everyone else feels the same way. Is the WWE as a whole about to enter the Age of Morrison?

It depends on how he does as a solo act! We've only seen him as a tag team wrestler thus far. First it was with Joe Mercury, then the Miz(yes I know he ECW champ). He's always had someone to play off of. Can he cut a promo that doesn't sound like he shooting an episode of the Dirt Sheet? We know he can go in the ring and has tons of charisma, but can he deliver a serious promo?

Yeah I think he'll get a decent push on sd, two wins in one week over bourne and r-truth who are two decent midcarders are pretty much a sign of that.

John Morrison is great. I have such respect for him. I liked him from the day he debuted.
Anyone like te idea of Morrison/Mysterio feud for the Intercontinental Championship?
Sounds like a great idea to me. Perhaps Shelton Benjamin getting involved. Dolph Ziggler? We have a great mid card and upper mid card leauge on Smackdown now. Plenty of people to fued and further Morrison's development. I would love to see Morrison make a name for himself. I watched ECW today and Morrison looked strange without Melina or the Miz there. Melina is back on the same brand as Morrison now.
Perhaps she'll turn or he will and they will re-unite?

I wouldn't mind seeing him and Rey go at it! It would re-invigorate Rey's career. But, Morrison has to be serious in his promos. He has to prove that he's not just a Dirt Sheet comic!

It would be nice to see Morrison make it big time, but I dont see it happing. Look, I enjoy the guys matches as much as the next IWC fan but can anybody really see john morrisons name headlining a big ppv? Or getting a title run with the likes of Undertaker,Jericho, Edge,Jeff Hardy on the Smackdown Scene,I guess it could happen seeing how Cm Punk was the champ on RAW for a while, but then again we know how that turned out, and i think it would be a mistake for them to try and launch him into the title scene anytime soon. His Mic Skills IMO are far from being able to carry a Serious long term feud with any if the vets (Taker,Jericho Ect.),and he doesn't seem too get much heat from the crowds. I think in 2009 Morrison should be booked as very dominate in the mid-card for a year or so and maybe next year once he has gotten some experience and a bit more talented with the microphone try his hand at the Main Event.

Its not like he hasn't been a singles wrestler before, or IC champion either. He has done both, now it jsut seems a bit more imortant to stress because he was part of a popular tag team with Miz. I have always respected his ability in the ring, and I think he will do very well on Smackdown A feud with Mysterio would be nice, but he needs a feud with someone that puts Morrison on the map as a serious contender, perhaps maybe someone like Kane.

Ok.. everyone knows i am a big fan or John Morrison. But i keep wondering what your expectations are for the "Shaman of Sexy" for 2009

example: talk about fueds, championships, heel/face turn. Thoughts?

i think eventualy to get him work a program with rey would be the obvious choice. win the title have him defend it alot...at ppvs too. this way the ic title becomes a focus again giving other mid carders a platform to shine on. thats mainly why nobodys getting over lately is because theres no platform (ic title being valued) for them to get over on

I think that he will end up facing and haveing a good fued with REY there styles mesh well and would give some prestige back to the ic belt

Funny, I was thinking the same. Rey/Mysterio IC Title feud for a few months, have him win it, and hopefully by year-end have him starting to get into the main event slowly. Maybe have him win the Royal Rumble and get the title match at WM? Id like to see him get in there the old fashioned way. Like winning the Rumble or just jumping to the main event himself. NOT the money in the bank. Its cool and all, but id like to see JoMo do it the real way.

Morrison will NEVER win the Rumble. Ever.

In 2009, Morrison will win the IC Title. He will own it and defend it very well for about 5 months. I also see a face turn in his future. I've said before, he's kinda like Triple H on a smaller scale because no matter what he does, he's got a following because people see so much potential in him. Same with Kennedy. These guys that are the future of the company have huge followings no matter what. I think the fans will somehow turn Morrison face. Especially now that he's without the Miz, a face turn makes a little bit of sense for him. It will be a great compliment to the Punk heel turn I've been predicting and hoping for in the near future. A good Punk heel turn and a feud with Morrison will bring out a great character in Morrison. The only catch to all that would be that even though Punk has the briefcase, he doesn't cash it in right away. At least I think so.

i woul also love to see a face turn for JO-MO and considering he's never been face (form what i remember) it could be something great or something not so good, i also hope to see him win the ic title from mysterio, then at the end of this year get a main event push, hopefully leading him to a nice world title reign.

hes nowhere near a world title shot to whoever suggested him winning the rumble thats just ridiculous. however hopefully he'l be on the card at the rumble, defending or challenging for the ic title. hopefully the ic title will have gained the value it deserves by then and actualy be worthy of ppv defences. i really cant understand what wwe is thinking half the time with their choices, but thats another matter. hopefully 'JoMo' will find his feet now on smackdown get a good fued with rey, punks there again for him to feud with too, maybe a face turn and feud with jericho would do him good also in the future.

I think a World Title shot is not for him in the works for a good few years unfortunately. I do agree with most everyone else that he is a good forerunner for the IC belt and put some on damn good matches/feuds with people like Rey and those in the upper middle card. I also think a possible reunion with Melena is possible.

First i think he will feud with The Miz for a little bit, because he needs to get his revenge now, and then after that i say...

either one of these feuds will be good
John Morrison vs Rey Mysterio

John Morrison vs Chris Jericho

John Morrison vs CM Punk (they work great together in a match)

John Morisson vs Edge (i would like to see this after a bigger push for him)

and after a big enough push

John Morrison vs The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26

possibly working on a World title reign

Heres the whole issue... Even though Morrison is one of my top three favorites (along with shelton an Edge) hes still missing something. Morrison has the uncanny ability to do some crazy stuff in the ring, but still make his brawling technique look extraordinary painful... his punches look like theyd F'n hurt... and he can have a great match with anyone that is capable (i.e. punk, bourne, hardy ect...)

However... Even with his awesome matches and his main event look... the crowd just doesnt seem to back him up, to the point that he needs them too. Dont get me wrong, u see him fight bourne on ECW and they boo him, but, its ecw and bourne is one of the biggest rising faces in the company, so they are gonna get into that regardless.

Now that JO MOs on Smackdown, i think they are gonna start pushing him as a devastating wrestler... JR even said something along the lines of " i dont think were gonna see morrison lose too many matches in 2009", and if thats the case, i think thats how morrison gets the crowd reaction he needs. By WINNING, all the time. Making people upset that hes beating theyre favorites... but if they give him a 50/50 type of run, hes not gonna ever develop that last piece with his connection to the crowd.

Last thing, i think he needs a personal feud, one to get people to relate a little more... and not against miz... theres no need for that, he needs to be hated more before he becomes beloved, which i believe will happen eventually... but if u start him in a feud with someone like punk, rey, or jeff... and bring something personal, idk what, but something... ppl would love to relate to those three faces and hed be hated just for being against them.
And as much as id love to see rey vs morrison, i see rey coming out the victor in that feud and i dont wanna see that happen, so id much rather see him get on punks case and challenge him for that MONEY in the BANK contract, even if he loses the cash in match.

WWE needs to work a program between Morrison and HBK while he still has some gas in the tank; I think this feud would elevate Morrison beyond belief. I think he's been wrestling guys beneath his level for a while now and all he needs is a feud w/ a big time player like HBK to elevate his career.

What do i see in John Morrsions future? I dont know but i know what i would do with him.

John Morrison currently has a lot of steam, he & the company itself need to to quickly grasp that fact & elevate him to being a Main Event Player by having him feud with HBK.

MVP & Mr Kennedy for me were both on course to be World Champion not to long ago however now they are no where near due to multiple reasons such as injuries, wellness policy & political reasons.

If WWE were smart they wold capitalise on John Morrisons momentum & build up a feud between HBK & Morrison & they should do it the right way, as in have a 3 month build leading to a PPV match at Summerslam in which HBK jobs clean to Morrison.

I worship Morrison and I think Vince likes him because over his career he's gotten prominent matches even if they are squashes. He faced Triple H in a few matches and wasn't made to look weak (they even inexplicably had him face HHH alone while Miz and CHAVO handicapped against him), he pinned Shawn Michaels clean, he went 15 minutes with Batista and dominated, he's held title after title, he was the go-to replacement to win the ECW title after Benoit. He and Miz were given total freedom on the Dirt Sheet, they made a LOT of appearances for the company. Morrison was one of the select few talking about Mania moments at Mania 25. He was featured in the Vince piece on ESPN. I think it's safe to say they like him and what he offers.

As to what it actually is that he offers, well, damn near anything they want. He has the athleticism and humour to be a highflying face, he has the swagger of a heel. I'll be first to admit his promos aren't top notch, but like so many before him he'll work on it till they're passable (Jeff Hardy anyone?) and get big matches.

Everyone's picking Rey as his new rival and it makes sense, they're about the only mid-carders on Smackdown, except Shelton of course. They'll work well together, swap the IC title perhaps. The feud against Punk is also logical... maybe a ladder match for the briefcase... unless Punk cashes it in on Sunday and beats Cena after he barely gets up at 9 during the last man standing...

i am likely in the minority here but i think that john morrison will struggle without the miz. to me he just doesnt have the natural talent and comfort on the mic to warrant a huge main event push. when he talks it sounds scripted and unnatural and weak, the miz sounded brash and like he enjoyed talking on the mic. i will say that in ring hands down morrison is much more talented, but sheer charisma? gotta go with mike mizanin.

John Morrison has so much talent and if pushed could be a solid main eventer. However the WWE tends to drop the ball sometimes and i am worried John will be lost in the draft shuffle. I hope not though, he is a very talented wrestler. He doesnt have the greatest mic skills but they are definatly improving and after a fued against someone like Edge or Jericho he could be elevated to the top. I too would love the HBK story but with him on RAW and Morrison on SD i cant see it happening anytime soon. I think Jericho or Edge have the talent and charisma to build Morrison up in a good fued though.

I think if wwe really wanted to push him to the moon (hope they do)

1) Hopefully some midcard based big match to see who gets a title shot at a ppv, with the winner getting to go on to the next ppv to face rey, this will be won by Morrison.

2) He will beat rey in mayb a ladder match for the ic title at the ppv

3)He will hold the IC title for a long regin with lots of challengers adding a bit of prestige to the belt and give him some time to work on his micand promo skills.

4) Loses the title at the royal rumble in an epic 30 minuite plus match to some one maybe Dolph Ziggler (I know what your thinking but they're ment to push him soon).

5) To everyones surprise wins the royal rumble (or a tournement afterward to decide who faces the champ at mania)

6)Teases a face turn cos fans are cheering for him (heel champ at this point guys) turns face wins the title at wrestlemania, gets drafted to raw for a whole new set of feuds on the a show.

I know it probably won't happen but thts wht id like to see happen.
