JJ Dillon's Book Trivia

Question 2, IC?

I was going to save it for tomorrow, but if you insist...

Question #2 -After a full night of drinking and card playing with the Funks, JJ Dillon had to begin a 5 hour drive with his wife to a 9 am taping for the Amarillo Texas territory. Dillon stopped at a rest stop for coffee, when a fellow wrestler tapped on his window. When Dillon told this man what had happened, the wrestler sent his chauffered car service away with his wife, and took over driving for JJ and his wife so Dillon could sleep before the show. Who was the kind superstar who sent away his car service to make sure Dillon arrived safely at his show?

It's a big name, but Thesz is incorrect. Dillon has referenced Thesz a few times, but he has yet to work with him at the point I am at.

Which decade did this happen?

Late 70's.

Very close guess, but wrong.

No, Funk didn't have to go on the trip, hence why he was drinking. Dillon didn't realize the Funks didn't have to make the taping, so you can imagine his shock.

Buddy Rodgers is wrong.

It was not von Erich, great guess though.

It was not Flair. Ric was still in North Carolina at the time.

It is not Race again.

Dillon was working Amarillo Texas with the Funks and Abdullah the Butcher at the time, fresh off a stint in Japan.
