Jason Campbell

Welcome to My (And Not Sly's) House
Was told of the McNabb trade by a reporter who called him and asked him about it according to Mike and Mike. Seriously? I know McNabb is a big deal but it's not like Campbell is a terrible guy that you want to run out of town. Give him a bit of respect.

As a Carolina Panthers fan hopeful of some competition for Matt Moore, I approve this method simply because it increases the odds that Campbell will get the fuck out of Washington and perhaps make the move to Charlotte...

Why should the Redskins tell Campbell? What business is it of his? Campbell is a mediocre quarterback the Redskins don't want playing anymore. Should they call every member on the roster anytime they sign/trade for someone who plays their position?

Campbell is the player, he does not work business side. His job is to play, not to choose Redskins personnel.

There was a baseball player a few years ago, can't remember who it was, that found out during a radio interview that he had been traded to I think Anaheim. Like, the guy interviewing him literally stopped in the middle of the interview and said something like "We just got a breaking news update...you are now an Angel. What is your reaction?" Player: "Uh, what?"

You don't tell someone of the trade, reports that McNabb was allowed to choose the Redskins has been proven wrong.

Shanahan called Jason after the trade was done, but not fast enough. They had lunch Monday and discussed his options. It was just the reporter was faster then Mike was.

I wouldn't mind Minnesota trading for Campbell. I think Campbell has talent, he's just never had a solidified position to actually you know, learn an offense. He's had a new offense to learn every year he's been in the NFL and that can't be good for him. With a steady front office and a year of learning from Favre, Campbell could become a very good QB.

I agree assuming that Favre comes back which we all know he will.

Even then, Campbell's still afraid to hit his receivers if they've got a little coverage. He has issues seeing the field. He's a middle of the pack, kind of a guy, but a good solid starter for teams in need of a QB. The Bills are a likely landing spot right now.

It would seem to be a common courtesy to let your starting QB know that he is no longer going to be the starting QB, the NFL is a business after all, weather you're in the front office or you play out on the field you still have the right to know, without the players on the field their would be no NFL.

They don't have the "right" to know, they have the right to play for their paycheck. The other stuff has nothing to do with him.

Even if its not his "right" it is still a common courtesy, and why would you not want to communicate with your QB, it just seems like their sneaking behind his back.

Now don't get me wrong, McNabb is by far the better choice at QB, I just feel that some communication will help Cambell fit into his role as backup instead of him getting upset and demanding a trade.

He doesn't have a right to know, but I don't think that a phone call to tell a guy who was told he could compete for a job is now not going to be able to compete for a job would have killed them.

I believe he would have the right to know if they are contemplating on trading him to a specific team. If he has a family they would need to plan and find suitable living. Unless they stay in Washington and he goes alone. But trading and moving down on the depth chart are two completely different things.

He can still compete, Shanahan's said he's giving him all the chances to find another team, but he'll be welcomed back if he cannot find one and he'll have (like every person on the roster) to win a starting spot.

I would happily take Campbell for the Jags. Hell, I say trade Garrard for Campbell, even though I know they wouldn't accept it.

Jason Campbell is a career backup QB who happened to start for a few years. Be thankful and sign on with a good team and win you a ring while holding a clipboard.

Campbell is much better then a career back up. He isn't a great qb but he is good and his numbers are proof, especially considering the lack of talent he has had at receiver during his career.

Agreed, though Moore was a beast last year and will be good IMO. But who the fuck is your backup QB? Need a vet, Campbell sucks ass but he'll still be good for development.

As for the thread, read Brian's post, true shit.

Unless he goes to the Raiders, whomever wants him will place him as a backup. If he can play his way into starting, then kudos, but he's proven to be mediocre at best.

QB ratings in the mid 80's with jack shit for receivers and an aging offensive line is better then mediocre. He'd start in Oakland right away and also Buffalo and Cleveland if they tried to get him. Campbell at this point is a top 20 qb in the league. There's some young guys who may pass him up in the next couple years, but right now he is easily top 20.

I can't believe you'd say something like that.

I'm a Carolina Panther's fan, through and through. I'd rather go 0-16, and risk taking the next future unknown rookie QB prospect.. than sign Jason Campbell, even as a back-up.

Matt Moore was the right decision, and I'll forever say I miss Jake Delhomme. (For this up-coming Season, I'm going to be cheering on the Browns for 15 of their 16 games - sans the one against Carolina, of course.)

However, to say Campbell should be cut - so Carolina could have a crack at signing him, is like asking us to willingly commit team suicide.

Nothing against Campbell, besides the fact he's not lead his team to any Playoff games. Nor has he done a whole hell of a lot to help that Offense. (lets be honest though, that shouldn't all fall on him) However, Carolina is a run-first, throw when we must, team. Matt Moore proved he can light it UP against teams when we need to.. and I have the highest of confidence in him, that he'll lead us back to the Playoffs this year. (Assuming our Defense doesn't kill us, pre-hand)
