Jack Swagger Gimmick Change?

This is a topic I have been quite vocal about. In my opinion, Jack Swagger is an amazing wrestler that has TONS of potential, but he lacks a gimmick that will get him anywhere. He is the type of person that is a great wrestler, but he sucks on the mic. He needs a gimmick that includes less talking and more wrestling.

Only thing I'd suggest is change the All American American name. It more or less serves no purpose anymore. He's the cocky young heel that gets over on raw talent and that's all he needs. His gimmick works fine for what it is. In FCW he was more or less Goldberg mixed with Kurt Angle. Not so much a gimmick as a persona. I wouldn't change much in him. He's doing fine as he is.

Jack Swagger is better on the mic every time he get on it than he was the last. The mic is a confidence thing more than anything else. Working with Christian is helping him out tremendously.

I don't think he needs a new gimmick at all. He has wrestling skill, which they play up. He lets his technical superiority make him cocky. His arrogance really comes though.

Jack Swagger is the best new talent in WWE in some time. While Evan Bourne may be fun to watch, the overall believability of Jack Swagger makes him more valuable to the product as a whole. The best gimmick for him is the one he has now. As he rides the booking staff's grace to the top, no other gimmick would allow him to embrace his quick rise like the one he has now. I think he should work with Miz and Morrison a little. Those three would make a great arrogant heel tag team, and would be great working with Bourne, Finlay, and Christian. Keeping Swagger how he is now is best for his future.

Why would you change the all american name?? it speaks to his massive amount of legit athletic ability. It also seems to annoy the shit out of people for some strange reason, so it works to his heel persona. and the answer is no, hell no they shouldnt change his gimmick. Its great, and the fact he has a lisp is something faces can make fun of to get cheap pop. THe gimmick is fantastic, and shouldnt be touched.

Theres no need to change his gimmick, he's already over as a heel. Wrestling ability-wise he is one of the best mid-carders in the WWE right now. The feud with Christian is giving him renewed momentum, and if keeps picking up momentum it wont be too long before we see him reaching the main event. As far as the gimmick goes, if its getting him over in ECW then it can get him over anywhere. Sure he's had the benefit of working with probably the two best mid-carders in WWE in Matt Hardy and Christian, but his gimmick as it is has got him this far. There is no need to change his gimmick, until he stops getting over. I honestly can't see that happening so it should stay.

I think at some point he will turn face though (much like John Cena did), and then what? Will he keep his All-American-American theme,or change it up? What could he do to make his character likable, and make people cheer for him?

I agree that he has mountains of talent and potential, but i honestly can see him turning, he garners great heat, and im sure WWE would realise this, and use this as a long term investment. However, i never thought that The Great Khali and MVP would turn, so it isnt out of the question. Every great has gone through a face run and heel run (HHH, HBK, Undertaker, Angle, Hart to name a few) So in all honesty, it may happen later on in his career, when he is on the boundaries of becoming a household name in the industry

There is no reason to change anything about him. Especially while he is still essentially a mid-card champion.

Changing anything about his name or persona, will ultimately serve to look like he couldn't cut it, so he needed to change. He's working fine in the ring, and his mic skills have improved since becoming champ.

His entrance is classic in my eyes. The music works well for his character, and is great for a heel. The chest pounding adds to the "Swagger" that he has, and the cocky smile makes people wish he'd lose. The matches I've seen of his work well from beginning to end, and are better than what ECW has put on TV most of the time.

He's great for leading ECW, and should stay as a heel. He'll do big things there, and will end up getting the obvious push to Smackdown or RAW, and will be competing for a major title before long.

He's over with his current gimmick.
Last time I checked that's a fairly good reason NOT to change your gimmick.

He doesn't need to change his gimmick. The fact that he is a cocky, brash, has a cheeky smile gets under the skin of people and that's what makes us the audience want him to lose. Him working with Matt and now Christian is great for him because it alows him to learn from some of the experienced guys and help him build up in confidence especially with his mic skills which have got better since he won the ECW Title and his wrestling skills are getting better as well so there's no need for change.

I think he will be pushed harder as time goes by and I think will end up on Raw or Smackdown when the draft comes around in April. I think it would be a good way to enhance his character if he won the US Title on Smackdown. Imagine it, the All American, American as US Champion. It would be a huge boost for his career, bring some prestige back to the title and it would annoy people because maybe on the mic he could proclaim that since he is the US Champ as well as a 2x All American he is the best on the USA. That would piss people off a lot I think. Then no doubt creative will push him for a world title shot at some point. But all in all, no he doesn't need a gimmick change at this time.

I think that Jack Swagger is fine the way he is. I don't think that his mic skills aren't that good... they're okay, but the only problem is the lisp. Even with the lisp, he is still able to get his point across, which is something that not every wrestler is able to do. He has the nickname ''The All American American'', which is the only little gimmick chnage that would fit him. He's okay now, but he got a gimmick change, he would have to turn face and fued with various international wrestlers and try to defend America. Similar to what Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, and Undertaker has done. If WWE doesn't do that, then he could still have a long, successful career in the WWE with his current gimmick.

I like his character but his nickname honestly would sound better if it was just "the all-american". And getting some new tights, I like the singlet but maybe something a little less generic. Other than that the guy's actual gimmick shouldn't really change at all.

The lisp doesn't really bother me at all. I do agree with "The All American American" being a ridiculous moniker. Just call him the "All-American Jack Swagger".

I would think that he is fine the way his character currently is. He almost comes across as a young Randy Orton; a gifted athletic wrestler who comes across as an arrogant, cocky, I-know-it-all jerk that fans love to see get his ass whipped. And the lisp? I think it's hilarious! He may overcome it with time, but I think it helps his heel character. His promos are getting better every week, and this guy has some huge potential in this business. I used to hate him when he first started, but he's made a believer out of me. Go Swagger! I'm just saying.

Okay i am just going to throw this idea out there. I know it is crazy but think about it anyway. Draft swagger to raw, where he becomes the leader of a stable along with 2 old run-down superstars (the complete opposite of Legacy). Then they fued with legacy.

As of right now, He is doing pretty good with his character. It hasn't been used for long. I give him at least another year with the same name and gimmick. His nick name is actually kinda catchy. I laugh everytime I see it. He has a sizeable fanbase. The only thing I can see them doing is taking out one of the "American" just to make him more legit.
