ECW is being brought back as a regular brand just with the ECW name. Its a way to get more rating and money by sucking in old ECW fans but tis not working well.Cuz the new ECW isnt doing well but i think they can change it a bit if heyman had power.ALOT OF POWER!!!

Looking at is as someone who used to watch the old ecw, with all the history it has and everything i remember, i cant give up
I have to keep watching because theres that chance that we will have the old ecw back, and i dont wanna miss that just because it started out on the wrong foot

I think Mcmahon is an idiot but I think ECW will last. Eventually this interpromotional crap will end unless its a big pay-per-view or not even they might hae an WWECW guy vs a WWECW guy. Soon we will all understand that ECW is long gone, and that this new one is another brand that will eventually be worth watching and it'll be good but never like the original ECW. Heyman is going to have more power but never 100% creative control

sure it will get better once they bring in more wrestlers and get things going

they have a 1 hour slot each week and a limited roster you cant expect too much

No, it won't. The fact that matches are being officiated under WWE rules, and the fact that the low-risk WWE style of wrestling is used means that WWECW is nothing like the ECW of old, and is just a third brand of sports entertainment. And it will remain that way as long as Vinnie Mac insists on having any creative input.

Not to mention the fact that WWECW is not crowd interactive in the least. Nobody walks or fights through the crowd (except for Sandman), all of the classic ECW themes (except for Sabu's) have been replaced with generic crap themes, and the match outcomes are just so damned predictable.

What does WWECW have in common with ECW, aside from a name, a few wrestlers and a couple of light weapons? I'll tell you: NOTHING!!!!! It becomes more evident every week that Vinnie Mac didn't want to revive ECW - he just wanted to launch a third brand of sports entertainment and tack a familiar name onto it in the hopes that people would tune in. Vinnie better hope that fans of sports entertainment can make time for his 3 shows, because if they don't, ECW will become as much of a disaster as XFL. And by that I mean a financial one - it's already a mess in its execution.

I will say, that being a fan of ECW since the mid '90s, I have been highly pissed off and disappointed at different levels week after week with the product being put in front of us. There are three moments that I as a wrestling fan will never forget where I was, when I was watching them, for better or worse:

1.) The first time I saw an ECW tape.

2.) Ultimate Warrior vs. Hogan at WM......Good God what was I thinking when I was a kid

3.) Undertaker vs. Mick Foley in the 'Cell.....Some of the craziest bumps I had ever seen at that point as a fan

The only one that I could give a damn about now is the first time I witnessed ECW. I was in high school, in my Independent Studies of Media Class (biggest bullshit class I have ever take in my entire life, got time to roam the halls for 90 minutes). I went to talk to my girlfriend at the time in the gym during some cheerleading meeting she had with her sponsors. I got to talking to a couple of my friends who were die-hard wrestling fans (we were doing backyard wrestling back in '95 and '96 before it became what it is now). Anyway they had always talked to me about ECW. So we took the tape, went to our media room, and watched the thing all day long (skipping a few classes in the process). I had never seen anything like it. It changed the way I looked at wrestling and what it should be.

From that point on I borrowed every video Brad had in his collection. He had taped countless shows and I watched everyone of them. I was hooked. Brad was in fact my "dealer" because I didn't have a dish at the time. So I started watching a new tape everytime he brought me one. Then I started watching PPVs as they came along and I couldn't get enough of it.

I'll never forget how happy I was when I got my first taste of what ECW was. I'll never forget how sad I was to see it go away, even though by then alot of my favorites had come and gone.

I kept watching the WWF product but grew tired of it and turned away from wrestling for most intensive purposes. I started watching again late last year for the guys that were still around that I couldn't get enough of; Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, RVD, etc. I kept watching and realized that I had missed the first ONS. I had heard nothing about it because I was in college and working at the time and was going out and partying way too much. I just never watched TV and never heard about it until after the fact. I went and bought the DVD and loved it. It wasn't quite back to the old ECW but it was pretty damn close. I thought that's great, at least they payed a fitting tribute to these guys and left it at that.

I have continued to watch wrestling again, almost for a solid year and have tried to catch up on the business that I have loved since I was a kid. So when I heard about an ECW ONSII I was ecstatic. I ordered it, had some friends over, and it felt like the old times. My wife, the gf from college, has even become a fan of it again after we both quit watching it after high school. I watched it and thought, my God, we're going to have a wrestling reniessance. I told all my friends about it who quit watching wrestling and was very excited to see what was going to happen the following Tuesday.

Then I am met with the biggest pile of shit I have ever seen called a one hour television show. I couldn't fathom what I just saw on the TV. I thought hell it's the first week, give it time. I've continued to watch and I'm still being let down. It is not the same and I'm afraid it will never be the same. I just hope to God that Vince wakes up and realizes what he is doing to this company that we all used to love.

While some people are giving up already, my devotion to the real ECW and the guys that broke bones and bled and worked there asses off, who are still with this second version, will not let me turn away. I will keep tuning in just hoping and praying that we will get something close to what we used to love. I think there is a chance to still save this and I think there will be plenty of time to do so.

For those of you who think that this will be cancelled after its run on Sci-Fi, you're out of your fucking minds. ECW is already doing ratings almost as good as Smackdown. Vince won't let this die, although if things don't eventually change, he probably should. I think that Vince will keep spending the money and hopefully once we get another hour and more performers, I am marking out bigger than fuck about Punk coming to ECW, I think we will eventually have a very good product. I am happy with just the fact that we do get to see all these guys we grew up watching, on TV in some shape or form.

I do hope to God almighty that we do get away from the squash matches, pointless Sandman canings, the jobbing of ECW alum, etc etc. Vince always changes his mind so much about everything that I am just trying to make myself believe we will get to a point, with a longer show, where we will have time for better matches, the addition of the other titles, and after such good ratings and reviews on the main event last week, at least a more hardcore style to the matches and dropping this fucking bullshit extreme rules match a week. I don't care about the blood and guts in every match, it's nice from time to time, but you can't put Sabu in a match like they did last week and expect him to be what he is, a fucking amazing talent who is not afraid of anything. You can't have a RVD or Sabu match and take away chairs and tables.

Hopefully Vince will pull his head out of his ass, just this once, and give us something close to what we remembered as ECW, ONS and ONSII are good examples. I can't turn away for the same reason as the poster above, I've got to believe it will get better and I can't get enough of these guys that are getting another shot to make some very good money. I think if we turn away as fans now, no matter how bad it's been, we're fucking hypocrits. If we turn away from this show and these guys that entertained us for so long, when is the next time you'll see Balls, Dreamer, Sandman, etc getting paid the money they are right now. Also, albeit I'm highly pissed off that Styles can't commentate like he wants to, who knows if Joey will have a job if they close down shop on ECW.

Give it time and give it a chance. I'm not happy right now, no true ECW fan should be happy right now, but at least we've got another night of wrestling to watch and occasionally look forward to. At least some of these guys have got a solid source of income and don't have to worry about getting paid independent money and carnival money. I know its easy to forget this shit b/c they are entertainers but I think that getting older, it's hard for me not to think like this. Lets give it time and hope something.......fucking something happens to change the landscape that we've got now.

i think the show is decent still far better then smackdown

i could do without kelly's dance bullshit im fine with her being dudes girlfriend manager chick but i dont wanna see her bullshit dances every week

I am just gonna wait and see. I don't have much experience with the old ECW save a few matches here and there. I honestly can say that Sandman and Sabu have become my two favorite Extremist and I am sure I haven't seen the best of both yet. I wish Vince would just let Heyman do his thing. I get its a business. But most, if not all of these men are professionals. Just let them work. I think ECW will work, but Vince needs to lay off a bit.

Just wait it out, your not going to see intense matches because vince is afraid of that style, thats why the lightheavyweight/crusierweight division has always sucked in WWE

It will succeed.Their is to much going on in it now as far as funds and the wrestlers to let it fail.It gets better each week and it will only improve.Just give it more time to cement itself as a show.Oh yeah,I am by far not gay.I love women and will always, but Kelly has got to go!Give me Candice,or go find Gorgeous George, but the Kelly chick has got to go!

lets get one thing straight ECW is not hardcore wrestling its vinces third brand and i dont care if they bring back everyone itll be the same no xtreme moves nothing that will hurt the talent to much as vince sees it...ECW is dead

We'll have to see how it turns out.Yes,the old ECW is dead. Now it's the new ECW and we will have to deal with that or not watch.I can say that if given a chance,it will surprise alot of people.Wait and see,it will NOT be the old,but a new, maybe even better ECW.(I stretch that notion for optimism.)

ECW is far better than smackdown i agree

the whole 1 hour slot is a BS excuse because TNA have 1 hour and they pull off great and exciting matches and storylines so WWECW is just using it as an excuse to why they arent doing well with the fans

When ECW was only an hour back on TNN and even before on syndicated stations, it was 100% better than WWE's and WCW's 2 hour shows combined.

I think once the Sci-Fi trial is over we may see more of the old school ECW that we all love(d). But Paul Heyman must have COMPLETE CONTROL.

On a seperate note, in his WWE blog at JRSBAR**.com, Jim Ross wrote the following:

"After watching ECW Tuesday night on Sci Fi, it strikes me that the ECW boys may be having a few too many Hardcore Rules matches on their TV shows. If you have one every week, they cease being special."

While I agree with changing the rules of the new ECW so that every match is not contested under Extreme Rules as they were in the Original ECW, I must very respectfully disagree with JR's assesment that the new ECW should not have at least one Extreme Rules match every week. Without that single Extreme Rules match, I'm not sure what would make ECW any more Extreme than RAW or SmackDown. Taking into account the weekly guests we have from both RAW and SmackDown, without Extreme Rules, we would indistinguishable from WWE's two other brands and should be renamed WWE Tuesday Night RawDown.

I agree with Styles, I guess I'm getting used to the idea of every match not being extreme rules and i also understand they want to make the extreme matches special by having only 1 a week, although we see the alternative every Monday and Friday. At the same time Styles makes a great point in saying that the ECW World Heavyweight Championship should be contested under Extreme Rules.

I would like to suggest that while Extreme Rules is still defined as anything goes, why not make ECW's standard rules more Extreme than WWE's standard rules. For example, in a standard ECW match:

The only ways to be disqualified would be the use of weapons and outside interference. Choking, eye-gouging, biting, low-blows, etc. would all be legal.

I also think that every ECW World Title match should be contested under Extreme Rules. If the ECW World Champion is not extreme enough to defend the championship under those conditions every time he steps into the ring, then that champion is not extreme enough to represent ECW and should wrestle for RAW or SmackDown. Another point is made in that the ways to be disqualified, I think that chocking, eye gouching, low blows should be legal and i guess the rest depends on management. furthermore in a tag team match (once the titles get there if they do) regardless of the word tag in the phrase (tag team titles) tags shouldn't be necessary like in the old school ECW. As Styles said a title match though (in this case for the tag titles) should be contested under Extreme Rules. the article makes me believe that maybe Vince is serious about making ECW work. Decreasing the times you see Extreme Rules might make the ECW more special (for the new viewers anyway, original ECW fans didn't mind there being ECW rules in every match. One thing is that for us who saw ECW, we know that ECW wasn't always weapons, we had great Mexican and Japaneese wrestlers who brought a different style to ECW without using any weapons. Contrarary to popular belief when Eastern Championship Wrestling first left the NWA to become Extreme Championship Wrestling every match was not extreme. Rather there were DQ's and count outs. With the evolution of ECW, it became Extreme and it became the ECW will all grew to love. This product that Vince and Heyman are giving us everyweek isn't horrible and I believe it will evolve little by little like the original ECW. I don't believe Vince is trying to play them down because of his fear of ECW being better than RAW. My only fear is the burrying of the original and talented ECW wrestlers. There are guys who can put out a match and can be very over with the fans and they need to be given that opportunity. I think that bringing in talent from Japan and Mexico rather than Raw and Smackdown will help their product be diffent and special. Let's see what this evolves too, and what the December PPV will bring to us. i am still optimistic about ECW working out.

Your thoughts?

i think ecw will succeed because the with the ratings being there the fans are giving it chances and Vince will not let it fail. Hopefully he will give full control to Paul Heyman soon

You do not have to be a genius in order to put on a one hour show of good wrestling. You do not need a roster of 50 to pull that off. They could've fulfilled that simple objective starting in week one.

You also do not have to put on squash matches in order to make someone look good. That was never a staple of ECW. I guess the concept of putting on a match where both the winner and loser look good is something that will always escape Vince.

We understand that this can't be 100% the old ECW, but that's no excuse for them to put on the product they have been producing since June.

Vince doesn't want ECW to shine over Raw or Smackdown!

plain and simple.

that's why he dumms ECW down ..

there shouldn't be Extreme Rules matches...it should be that for every match...but jus don't have every match to be an all-out blood bath...it's jus that the option is always there, so we don't have to deal with this DQ-WWE stuff...pisses me off.
