Just looks cheap. Hard to explain.
Boxers and UFC fighters don't do it.
I'm assuming it's because dudes aren't in shape but a fat dude wrestling is better than looking like the talent doesn't care.
Alot of things TNA does/allows their talent to do makes their product look second rate, they could solve a lot of their own problems as far as presentation of the product and visually looking second rate to the WWE.
Wrestlers were wearing shirts long before TNA was around.

That it is, but it doesn't make it OK. I've agreed routinely in the past that Sting should not be in a t-shirt. He just shouldn't. It makes it look like he's wrestling in a gym.
If he's worried about his physique, just go back to wearing a singlet like he used to wear that covered more of his torso/chest.

Who runs creative for TNA?
Eh it never bothered me.
It fit guys like Raven and some of the other ECW guys.
Even someone like Bam Bam Bigelow's attire was pretty much a t-shirt. Just patterned to match his pants.
All of Mick Foley's gimmicks had him wearing a shirt.
Terry Funk wore one at times.
I never thought less of any of them.

Sure, becuase neither Raven nor Sandman, or those types also wore traditional types. The problem is the combination of the two, in the way Sting does it.
Angle, for example, will wear tights, and then wear a sleeveless cut t-shirt on top, but it's not the same as Sting looking like he's self conscious and grabbing a t-shirt out of TNA's bins before heading to the ring.
Funk looked ridiculous wearing it, just as Sting does.
All he said was talent that wrestles with shirts on look unprofessional.
My point is that it fit some wrestlers.
I think we agree that it does work for some talent.
If he meant just the wrestlers that wear them over singlets or tights then it's my fault for misinterpreting what seemed to be a general statement.

Yeah it fit them because they wore boots/jeans/street clothes/etc. anyway
But it just looks silly to me to mix traditional wrestling gear with street apparel in the ring

I thought you meant it as a general statement for all wrestlers who wrestle in shirts.
