Impact Support Club House

Listening to Dave Lagana talk about the plans he and Corgan had for Impact... so good.

tl;dr, DCC were supposed to be a catalyst to galvanize heels upset with "the company" who would eventually go head-to-head with the Hardys and a few faces including Decay and Eddie Edwards who would be trying to protect "the company". As a way to save "the company", Matt Hardy would delete it rather than lose.

Then they completely relaunch in January.

Fuck me, that'd have been so much better than this GFW bullshit.

It was totally in line with the whole Broken Universe and was an on brand approach to resetting the company. Way more original than a takeover, and way more effective than a half-assed rolling announcement that the company that Anthem acquired after it acquired Impact was now, kinda, sorta, the new company name.

@IMPACTWRESTLING: Impact Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its business relationship with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment Inc., effective immediately.

...and like that, I just noticed the "new" titles...

Jesus fucking Christ

If this was ANY other promotion, it wouldn't be getting any kind of attention. The fact that Impact used to be entertaining has given it a ridiculous amount of steam, but there comes a point where your promotion is a disaster and you're only big in name only. That was about three years ago for them.

I actually quite like the concept of following its talent around the world.

However, not it being 75% of your 2 hour main show. Also with it being TNA doing it, it is hard to shake the impression that it is all a cash-saving exercise and not for any intriguing set ups or character/story-building.

It is the kind of thing that could work well as say an NXT spin off on the WWE Network - Pete Dunne defending the UK title in ICW, Moustache Mountain competing in Progress, a RAW/Smackdown dark match, maybe some of the Cruiserweights working in say PWG where they can show off some character.

It's an interesting concept, but they are heavily overplaying it (thanks to this being the tail end of their insane taping run). It's so much better with one or two of these matches per week, not six or seven or however many there were last night.

Yeah it's a combination of both of those things. TNA simply does not have the track record to make fans believe this is anything more than convenient for them. As for last night, there's a bigger problem for me:

Of seven matches on last night's show, three of them involved people competing at Bound For Glory. OVE, Mundo/Drake and Lashley/Moose are on the BFG card. I know the TNA vs. AAA six man (which still isn't interesting) and the X-Division are going to be added but maybe they should spend their TV time on that instead of airing one off matches that mean nothing.

Yup. This is giving me the same disinterested feeling I had throughout the entire World Title Series, which felt like a grab bag of otherwise useless live show matches that were given some kind of weighted value after the fact because they had nothing to air.

Earn and Brian Hebner, as well as Brian Stiffler and Robert King have all left Impact. If you're keeping count, that's all of the company's referees.

Given the news earlier this week that Anthem suffered massive layoffs, I'm starting to think Jarrett was right. They're out of money.

Looks like no one will be watching the Taya vs Rosemary first blood match at BFG. Nor will Taya be at the tv tapings either. She did say on Twitter that she will be back in 2018 if there is a 2018 for Impact.

So at the moment, we're looking at a seven match biggest show of the year. With no referees at the moment.

I'm so looking forward to this delicious train wreck.
