Impact Support Club House

So the injunction basically boils down to "reasons". SOmething about collusion against Ethan and that's enough for Matt to be banned from Impact for a month.

Oh and Dixie can't count. From earlier today: "It's been a very interesting 72 hours since the end of Bound For Glory."

72 hours would take you to Sunday afternoon ham head.

... BFG ended around what, 11pm Sunday evening? 11pm Sunday evening plus 72 hours would take us to the end of tonight.

Yeah, but she said this earlier today. Not 72. More like 60.

I know it's just a slip but after every stupid thing this company and Dixie in particular have done, she's lost any benefit of the doubt. She comes off as dumber and dumber every time I hear her talk.

Oh, you're basing it on the exact time the tweet went out? I see what you are saying. A bit pedantic, but as a fellow pedant I can understand that.

Gotcha. Still, I think we both know she really meant "the last three days", which is an implication that isn't meant to be taken literally, but figuratively. As in not literally 72 hours, but three days since Sunday evening.

Yeah I know, but this is TNA, where they always take the long way to get to any stupid point they're shooting for. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't mock them for it.

Oh and screw Josh Matthews.

When Aries comes out for his match, Josh says the internet nerds must be freaking out because Aries lost a career match but he's here again.

No Josh, actually we're wrestling fans who sit around and listen to your mindless drivel as you try to be the cool announcer while coming off as the biggest tool this side of your local hardware store.

Heaven forbid we listen to the rules and stories your company presents and then expect them to follow your own ideas. No instead we're nerds for trying to make sense of a business that you couldn't even get into because you couldn't beat freaking Maven and then no major company wanted to see you get in the ring so you're stuck with this sinking ship of a company because WWE realized they could get any hack to replace you.

Simple solution. Stop making these guys give up their "careers" in those matches. Loser gets fired. Simpler, safer solution. Because someone who is fired can always be re-hired. Someone who promises to "never return", who returns, is violating a promise.

Or they could say "Austin Aries lost his career but was invited back for a special occasion because he's one of the best of all time."

Nah, that still violates the promise. Just stop over-selling the stipulations. You'll be held to them by pedants, which internet fans largely are. They have deep memories and don't just forget what you say or put into place just because a guy is off screen for a few months.

On a slightly related note (TNA), holy fuck did they miss the boat on Okada. Watching him in ROH and NJPW... this guy can go, and go big. And TNA gave him the worst fucking gimmick ever (Okado) and gave him fuck all to do or work with. Despite AJ Styles of all people pining for him.

Awful. Just awful.

I can go with that. Just don't call internet fans (or anyone for that matter) idiots for remembering the stories that your company put out there.

Well New Japan needed Dixie Carter to explain wrestling to them.

Insulting fans when you aren't a heel is a dumb thing to do, period. It unnecessarily plays against you. Especially as a commentator. Reminds me of Michael Cole when he was ripping on Daniel Bryan years ago, calling him an "internet darling" when he was otherwise a "face" commentator, or at least not actually a heel.

Actually, come to think of it, Matthews already did this in reverse with EC3, championing him and his reign all last year but being a "face" commentator/play-by-play voice everywhere else in the broadcast.

Call me a knuckle-dragger if you must, but I'm a fan of heels being heels and faces being faces. Always have been, always will be. This "tweener" shit is for the birds.

Joke I'm not getting?

Amen. Also, if I'm TNA, the last thing I want to do is insult any of the handful of diehard fans that are sticking with them.

Joke I'm not getting?

Probably. I'm saying Okada is awesome and Dixie is stupid for making him into a Green Hornet sidekick.

Yup. It's one thing for WWE to do it. It's quite another for TNA. Your audience is already slashed and fleeting. You should be doing everything in your power to retain what is left and regain what's lost. Insulting any of your viewers is literally the opposite direction to go in.

Ha, no I get that. I meant was there some joke there from something that actually happened between the companies/people I'm not recalling?

Nah. Just Dixie being stupid and thinking she's a genius, as is so often the case.

I've never been impressed with Dixie Carter's business acumen. Usually the exact opposite.

Very nice lady, probably a wonderful person, but in terms of being the best decsion-maker? History is against her at nearly every turn.

Ditto. It really does seem like she just doesn't get it but completely believes she does. That's a dangerous combination.

I'd have a lot more patience if she were learning from mistakes and surrounding herself with smart people who do get it.

That's something that's done in sports a lot, especially when a team hires a rookie coach, for example, or General Manager. They tend to surround themselves with really smart scouts, executives, assistant coaches, etc. who've been there, who they can learn from on the fly.

That's something I feel TNA did somewhat well early on but just never learned from when those guys moved on or were fired. And it's inexcusable to go back to the well the way they did with guys like Russo, even if you can't actaully blame him for everything gone wrong on air.

Yep. Like we've both said: TNA never learns. It's the same stupid mistakes over and over again and they never get better. It's always old guys who haven't moved the ratings and another heel stable war for control of the company and no face champion holding the belt more than a month or two at a time. For some reason they don't get that this hasn't work and hasn't worked but they keep doing it anyway.

So how the fuck are points awarded in this "series"? And how do some guys already have points? And why is Matt Hardy in there?

I need to get to Vegas and put money on him beating ECIII in the finals.

Also...What are the odds the company closes before this thing's over?

3 for a win
1 for a draw
0 for a loss

Hardy is there because the injunction story makes little sense.

Some guys have points because they had matches tonight. You know, on the wrestling show.

I forgot they air on Wednesdays now :lmao:

The points system was the least of my worries, since I figured it was liked the old global series. But, forgetting the show aired tonight, I thought they just announced participants and gave certain guys points for whatever arbitrary reason.

Probably pretty low.

Reports from earlier have them finishing out with DA through to January/early 2016 and talking to upward of four new networks. They'll probably squeak out of this again.

And then we're having the same discussion in seven months after TNA promises that it's going to be different this time.
