If you could call one match...

From WWE(F), ECW, or WCW history (WWE owns ECW and WCW, so I figured this is a perfect forum to put it in), which match would you go back in time to call and why?

Personally, I would love to have called the Wrestlemania 21 match between HBK and Kurt Angle. This is one of my all time favorite matches, and is probably one of the best matches ever in the history of those businesses (atleast in the top 25).

Hmm! I think that the match I would want to call is probably... Probably The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin from Wrestlemania X-7. I know, I know, it is completely unoriginal and many people will likely say it in this thread. However, to me, there was no bigger match in all the years I had been watching wrestling and there is still no match that surpasses it yet. When I clicked on this thread, I imagined that I was sitting in the commentary booth for this match and I got goosebumps up and down my arms.

Please imagine, if you will, that scene. That you are sitting in front of 70,000 people calling a match that will always be described as one of the turning points in wrestling history. When and icon for everything you wished you could be and the 'People's Champion' met in the squared circle. I will always remember that match and the interference of Vince McMahon. In all of the years I have been watching wrestling, I have never been more shocked by proceedings and I don't think I ever will be. The emotion, the atmosphere and the sheer talent that was in the ring was exceptional and I am sure that I am not alone in the belief that it was one of the finest matches that the WWE has managed to put on.

That being said, I thought that Heyman and JR did a fantastic job of calling that match and if I did ever get the chance to call it again, I would likely just sit there in awe.

I would love to have called the Wrestlemania 20 main event, Michaels vs Triple H vs Benoit for the world heavyweight championship. Not only is it one of my favourite matches of all time, but it's the main event of Wrestlemania at Madison Square Garden. That just sounds like a dream come true.

I think it would be a fun match to call because the match flowed so well and there was never a dull moment in the 25 minutes it lasted. It would be so exciting to call the end in particular. When Benoit turns around into Triple H and you're so sure he's about to get pedigreed before he counters into the crossface. I don't think I'd even be able to say anything useful there. I'd probably just yell "YES" at the top of my voice.

Then it would be great to be able to call Benoit winning the world title and celebrating with Eddie after the match. I doubt I could have called it with such emotion as JR did, but I'd give it a good go. Sounds to me like one hell of a great night.

I'd like to call Michaels V. Jericho at WM19... thats my favorite match of all time showing in ring talent and charisma. The mocking eachother, stealing finishers. Not necessarily a "slobberknocker" but still a great match.

It's not so much calling a match but i would soo take out Jim Ross saying "I just had an Outerbody Experience!" at Wrestlemania 25 during the HBK-Taker Match. It just sounded so wierd and thats the first thing i think about when i think about Jim Ross nowadays...
But if I could call one full match, it would have to be the TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, E&C, and The Hardy Boyz at Wrestlemania X-7. I mark out every time i see that match and just go completely nuts the whole way through. And i wouldnt want to call it on my own, I'd want Heyman and J.R. (his outerbody experiences aside) to call it with me. And when J.R. says "Lita-Jerkin' Edge Off!" I'd say "ooohhh yeahhh"

This is a great question. I have five that I really would like to choose from.
Sting vs Hollywood Hogan - WCW Starrcade 98
I have always loved this match as it was the one that got me back into Pro Wrestling after taking a break of about 5 years. Sting to me was THE wrestler. He was mysterious, big, the face paint, the long hair. Everything about it was just incredible and Hogan was Hogan. He was still The Icon. I remember watching this match and got chills up and down my body. I can't imagine how great it would be to sit there and call that match as it happened.

Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker - WrestleMania 25
This to me is the best match in recent memory and possibly the best match of 09. Everything about this was spectacular. From the totally opposite entrances of HBK coming from the heaven and Undertaker rising from below, to the in ring psychology (the image of Shawn Michaels on his knees begging the ref to count faster as Taker was on the outside sill pumps me up), to the two kicking out of everything. To be in that arena, behind the table and watching it take place in front of me would just be incredible.

Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn - Living Dangerously 98
These two always put on a barn burner in ECW and I believe it was Living Dangerously where Jerry got the nickname "New F'n Show". These two went nuts on each other and it was the match I always use to get the point across that ECW was more than tables and barbed wire.

Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart - WrestleMania XII
Is there any explination needed? This match is still a bar setter for Mania main events and surprise suprise Mr. WrestleMania makes his presence known once again.

Goldberg vs Hollywood Hogan - NITRO
This match was without a doubt the biggest NITRO main event in the history of the show. Just the roar of the Georgia Dome crowd when Goldberg lifted up Hogan was earth shattering. And it was the changing of the guard in wrestling within WCW.

there a couple HBK vs Taker WrestleMania 25 for obvious reasons one of the all time great matches i just hope this years can live up to last year

and Mankind Vs taker hell in a cell match i will never forget seeing mankind fall off the cell on to the table getting up and climbing back up to top and then going though the cage (i thought he was now dead) getting wheeled up ramp on the stretcher standing up and walking back to the ring and giving one hell of a match

For me it would have to be the Mike Awesome vs Tanaka match from ECW One Night Stand (the frist WWE one).. Simply because they were both clearly not in the best shape but put on one of the most physically bruising matches I have ever seen (when Awesome jumped out of the ring and put Tanaka through the announce table my jaw hit the floor in amazement...

Calling A Royal Rumble would eb fun too, challenging but fun...

I'm going to go with a royal rumble match as I've always found them some of the most exciting matches and it would be interesting to call one. I think I'll choose 2001 as its one of the best rumbles in my opinion and has some classic moments.
If I were going for a straight wrestling match I'd gor for Stone Cold vs The Rock from X-7. Its the peak of the attitude era, a defining moment and a fantastic match as well.

This is my pick too and it was named Match of the Decade for a reason, HBK/Taker was great too but came in at Number 2

Those two had great chemistry

I would love to call that match which would be sure to be a great entertaining bout

I'm stuck between three choices:

1st- ECW Heatwave 98 Dudleyville Street Fight- That was one of the 3 most emotional feuds I've ever seen and would love to have called the match at the end.

2nd- Wrestlemania 23 MITB- I'm a sucker for a spotfest

3rd- Survivor Series 1997 mainevent- would loved to have been a part of that momentous moment in WWF history

The first ever match between Eddy Guerrero and Dean Malenko..a time limit draw that left me speechless!!

Any Eddy/Dean match would make me happy!!

I remember before WM23 when they still had Taz and Joey Styles doing commentary,at wwe.com they had people vote for an all-ECW mania and the match that everyone wanted more than aything else was another Eddy/Dean match,
Taz said how hard it was to follow them,Joey said that they always had great matches....Taz quickly quips.."Did they ever have a bad one?"

I'd have to say the match I would have LOVED to call would have been the Stone Cold v. HBK match @ WM 14.
Having tyson there would have just been great! love boxing, and LOVE WWE. Also, the build up to that match was BIG! I remember the Raw when Tyson was 1st announced as "special Ref", by the end of the show J.r. Was screaming "TYSON AND AUSTIN, TYSON AND AUSTIN!!"
They had a hell of a match that night, really stole the show.
I can still remember the finish.. HBK goes to kick Austin in the gut, Austin grabs his leg, flips the bird, spins HBK 'round and gives him the Freshest Stunner I have EVER seen. That match was at a point when I wasn't "too" sure about following wrestling anymore and was just watching because my family did. After watching the PPV I was BACK, you can be "here" but if your heart isn't into it, those "mark out" moments don't come full force, it isn't the same. I flip SHIT sometimes and you know what.. I'm DAMN proud of it!!
The entire 'Mania was one of the best IMO. The pete rose tombstone was also a staple of that classic as well.
J.r. And the king called a great show and I always loved me some J.R. And I have to say that I would most CERTINALY have to emulate Good ol' J.R.'S style! "STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE COLD!!!"

Ultimo Dragon vs. Chris Jericho in W.A.R. in around 98' or so. This two guys put on an amazing match that I have not yet seen an equal to in WWE or TNA. Sure I can't speak Japanese or Japanglish, but these two went to WAR. The old school and technical abilities showcased by them was truely amazing. Queen Suplexes, Tiger Suplexes, Planchas, springboard moves, etc. just amazed me. That is why.

For me, Since i'm old school it would have to be Jerry Lawler vs. Austin Idol for the CWA Southern Heavyweight Title/Cage/Hair match. this feature tommy rich coming from under the ring to make the king lose his hair and title. The mid-south coliseum also riot and just to think i was just 4 years old in 87. Great Match
