If you could watch the matches of just one wrestler...

In my current mood I have 3 choices that I can think of really, the one I am leaning toward the most may surprise some of you, although perhaps not some of the people that know me better.

JBL - During his title run and quite a way afterward, he wrestled everyone Smackdown had to offer at the time and always had good matches. It was great to see him constantly come out with the win after being on the brink of defeat so many times and just how much it pissed people off.

Whether he was cheating Undertaker out of last ride matches, or somehow beating Booker T and being chokeslammed through the ring by the Big Show his matches were always entertaining. People talk about Orton's heel psychology but JBL's got him beat in just about everyway possible.

Not counting Lou Thesz (who I would pick), it would be between Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, and The Rock. They've all had some great matches and were always putting on entertaining matches.

I'm going with, drum roll please:

The Undertaker

This guy has had some of the greatest matches, feuds, programs, you name it he has had it. Even against complete shit, he still made you care about his match or program. He has always been interesting and wonderful to watch. His oppenents that he has beaten reads like a who's who in wrestling. He has faced them all and he has beaten them all. He is The Phenom!

Hands down for me it has to be Chris benoit.
He really told a story in the ring. He had that intensity of somewhat of a brawler but he had the attributes of one of the best technical wrestlers ever. He had the classic matches with the likes of Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Too Cold scorpio and Booker T among others.Every match he had was always a piece of art even with the not as skilled wrestlers (Big show,Jbl,kane). One of my favorite 'mania moments was him winning the title, finally.
Even though what we did was just horrible, you cant deny what a great wrestler he was. If you ever come across the "hard knocks: The Chris Benoit Story" dvd, do not pass it up.

VERY GOOD PICKS GUYS, VERY GOOD, BUT I WILL HAVE TO SAY THAT NO ONE AND I MEAN NO BODY HAS EVER BEEN BETTER THAN RIC FLAIR, IF I HAD TO WATCH THE MATCHES OF JUST ONE WRESTLER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RIC FLAIR! HE'S THE BEST, HAD THE BEST MATCHES AGAINST EVERYBODY EVERYBODY, EVEN A GUY CALLED JACK VENENO WHO WRESTLED IN MY HOME COUNTRY DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, THAT GIVES YOU A HINT THAT RIC HAS WRESTLED EVERYBODY AND HAS GOTTEN THE BEST OUT OF EACH GUY.

NATURE BOY HAS THE BEST RING SKILLS OF ALL TIME, GREATEST PROMO GUY EVER, PSYCHOLOGY, SEQUENCE FOLLOWER, AND HE INTELLIGENCY. HIS MATCHES ARE SO GOOD THAT EVEN TODAY I WATCH THEM AND I LIKE THEM MORE THAN ANY OTHER BOUTS OF TODAY'S WRESTLING.

OF COURSE HONORABLE MENTIONS:

*TRIPLE H
*SHAWN MICHAELS
*EDGE
*UNDERTAKER
*RICKY STEAMBOAT

My first time to write on here but have read many of the threads and let me first off just say very entertaining stuff but now i figure i will chime in from time to time...
To choose just one wrestler is virtually impossible as there have been SO many great ones over my 25 years as a wrestling fan... however if forced at gun point to choose just one it would probably be "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase...
Dibiase was absolutely flawless when it came to ring work, dedication, psychology, and just overall entertaining!! His promos were delivered with such "heel" passion and his in ring manuvering, techniques, and psychology were deffinately second to none... Not too mention being able to maintain a very high spot on the roster with quite honestly a relatively small frame for wrestlers in his time and certainly not even the best of physiques to be completely honest. Too great for the Intercontinental Championship and not physically intimidating enough to be World Champion... It's certainly a crime this man wasn't ever the WWF champion... but some people just don't need title belts to show how truely spectacular and meaningful they are, were, and will be in the World of Professional Wrestling. A true professional without question. I could certainly watch his matches (and please some promos) for the rest of my wrestling fanaticism.

RUNNER UP: Bret "The Hitman" Hart (my personal favorite wrestler of ALL time)

Dang I don't know...
Chris Benoit is a great wrestler and I loved his matches. His outside life doesn't take away from his talent.
Undertaker is one of my all time favorite guys and I'd watch all his matches over and over with out a problem.
Mick Foley is damn great whether he's Cactus Jack, Mankind, or even Dude Love he is great.
Teddy Hart is another I would love to watch all his matches. I like Brett Hart however I didn't think he was the best Hart.
And RVD is another one who would have to be up there.

This is a hard choice for me between RVD and Bryan Danielson, however, I think at this moment I would have to go with Danielson. The energy that he gives to the crowd makes seeing him perform live a special thing. He just captures my full attention in every match he wrestles. He can work such various styles, that it amazes me.

I know alot of people think he is all about submission holds and technical mat wrestling, but he's got so much more to offer than that. He can work a fast pace match and incorporate aerial moves; he can work a hardcore style and use brawling effectively; and he is the best at using various submission holds when he works a slower paced match. He can get a good match out of anybody because of his ability and willingness to adapt his style.

Three words........BRIAN FUCKIN PILLMAN!

Many would argue that Pillman didn't have enough good matches (and almost no good matches at all in WWF/E) but his WCW work against Jushin Thunder Liger, Luger, Malenko, Austin, Steamboat and Douglas are some of my favourite matches of all time. Not to mention his promos were killer and when he started working as a heel his psychology was flawless.

Bret Hart, as he seems to be the guy that I look forward to each and every time I want to watch some of my oldies. I love watch him go at Stampede, I love his early stuff in the WWE, I love his late stuff in the WWE, and I even love his presence on WCW.

As a kid, certain channels would play old Stampede matches and I loved to see him go in the Calgary ring. If you have never seen his matches there, he brought something different to the ring. He was not a huge looking threat, he was not a joke of a star who would be gone in no time, he was something special. My parents would attests for this, because at the same time I was watching those old Stampede matches, that same man was on a different promotion (In my youth I had a hard time really telling the difference between promotions, not thinking that Stampedes pale mat in a small center was much different than WCW's fuzzy matches or the WWE's darkened arena matches.

But seeing Bret in the WWE was special. He was colourful, and with the guy who I did not know was his brother, wrestle was great. At this time I also seemed to have trouble telling that the IC title was not just as good as the World. Because the IC title looked fantastic around Bret's waist.

When he would go on to wrestle for the main title, it was special to I think most of Canada at the time. I still remember Yokozuna being a feared wrestler, and me hating him for what he did to Bret. Sure I was a mark, being a child, but still, Bret sold it like no other. I remember his triumphs and being so excited for him. And I remember the day he left, in fact, it made national news here.

When he went to WCW, it was very unmemorable. WCW was declining. But his angle with Sting and Goldberg were great. If it wasn't for the latter's mistake, I wonder how man more matches I would get to see.

I'm surprised no one has said him more than twice....Bret Hart. He ALWAYS put on a good show. Even his short stint in WCW was good. He will always be my favorite wrestler. I just wish I could have seen him squre off with Edge, Jericho, Christian, Kurt Angle or even John Morrison. By the way, these are my honorable mentions. I am an Edge fan and can't wait 'til he returns.

Shawn and it's not even close. The guy has faced pretty much everyone and has gotten the best match possible out of them.

Marty Jannetty - RAW
Razor Ramone - Summerslam 94
Bret Hart - Wrestlemania 12
Undertaker - Badd Blood
Kurt Angle - Wrestlemania 21
John Cena - RAW
Shelton Benjamin - RAW
Chris Jericho - Wrestlemania 19
Ric Flair - Wrestlemania 24

Even sodding Vince at WM22. I'm probably forgetting some matches as well. Really there's no-one who comes close to having so many great matches.

he faced benoit & hunter at Mania
he faced undertaker in first ever hell in a cell
an was in tha officall first ladder match vs. bret hart.
he has done all that an been wwe/wwf champ an been tha leader of nwo that guy has done it all he truly is tha headliner.

This is tough. Great thread question. Rep coming. I'm going to take a different route and also assume that since I can watch every match, I can watch every segment the superstar has been involved in during his career. If you include segments and mic work... I'm going with none other than The Ayatollah of Rock n' Rollah... Chris Jericho. The man is hilarious. His segment of being the man of 1,004 holds was sheer brilliance. Ralphus, his debut, his WCW matches, his ECW matches, his WWE matches. He's arguably the best all around performer of all time in terms of the vast difference of character change he can adapt to. He can be the biggest face ever. He can be the biggest tool ever. But his matches are always amazing. Jericho=Excellence.

I will have to go with Bret Hart. I don't think there are more than a handful of wrestlers even close to having consistantly good to great matches. Prommo wise he was decent, definetly got the point across. So many great feuds from the Foundation through his WCW run. Damn shame this guy got hurt.

there are a few names that come to mind, lionheart jericho, mysterio, eddie, edge, mr perfect, benoit, but the one that does it for me would be bret, this guy would up against guys that out weighed him by who knows how much, taker, nash, yoko, and take it to them, his matches against, hbk, mr perfect, austin, owen were classics to this day i pop in the bret dvd just to watch the matches, u cannot say that about all of the wwe dvd's

For me hands down the Rock, he was soo entertaining in the ring, just the way he kicked everyone's arses and didnt back down. also a pre match or post match promo would always be golden. for present day it would be Randy Orton because i really like his viper gimmick at the moment. Both of the above have the physique and speed, so are really entertaining

I think it would have to be the rock for me. He simply had all sorts of matches and overall, he was just an amazing entertainer. My second would probably be Bret Hart.

Hmmm...one wrestler for the rest of my life? That's a very tough one. Their are several choices I could go with here. I could go with Shawn Michaels, because of my love for him and his work in the 90s. Stone Cold could be another choice, as he was my childhood hero and I absolutely never get tired of his work, ever. Terry Funk is another good option, I could watch his work as NWA Champion for days on end. But then there's also a guy like AJ Styles, who is quite possibly the most entertaining wrestler I've ever seen. Yeah, I think I'd have to go with AJ here. I'm a huge fan of his and every time I watch one of his matches, I feel like I'm truly watching something special. It helps to have great wrestlers like Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels working with you on a regular basis of course.

So, probably AJ Styles. Stone Cold, HBK, and Terry Funk would all be very close though.

I have been thinking of this a lot latley, i could go with HBK(hence the user name), I could go with someone like Bret Hart or Kurt Angle, a wrestling specialist, or i could go with someone with so much charisma it makes my teeth itch. After much thinking about the subject i came down to one wrestler, John Cena.

He may not be a wresling specialst, he may not know a lot of moves or grapples, or do a lot of flips, but there is no denying when the man is in the ring, people watch him. he is this generations hulk hogan and you can tell this every time he wrestles.

I'm tore between a wide range of wrestler's, these are AJ Styles, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guererro.

AJ just entertains me and makes every match great to watch, can work a good match with almost everyone, is a great seller and would be happy to watch him forever.

Shawn Michaels, I have a great love for him as a wrestler, i just think he is superb and bring so much emotion to matches, being it desire for a championship or a personal fued, he makes it interesting and gripping, such a great story teller one of the best.

Chris Benoit, this man is for wrestling ability alone, i mark out when he locks in the crossface even when ive seen the match one hundred times before it still draws me in to see if it will win. I just love seeing him hit those German Suplex's and the diving headbutt.

Eddie Guerrero, This man is just great technically sound, can tell a good story but can make me laugh in all of his matches using his lying, cheating and stealing like when he kicked rhyno in the nuts then acted like he got hit too, i was in stitches, he can always bring a smile to my face when watching him.

Simply for that reason i gotta vote Eddie G just for that reason, plus he can bring real emotion in also.
