If ya smelllll....

Ol'Canucklehead

Pre-Show Stalwart
Imagine the biggest pop in a long time. I think I know how to accomplish it.

Now I am by no means a huge Rock fan but what I am is a huge wrestling fan. I long for the surprises that the Monday Night Wars provided us. With the Money in The Bank approaching and one match exclusively for former WWE Champions, it makes for a perfect opportunity for The Rock to make a brief return. It could be a surprise that night for all I care although I'm sure they would advertize it for PPV buys. In this scenario The Rock wins giving him the chance to fight for the title he said he would wear again.

Here's the interesting part...

Winning would give him approximately 8 months to cash in. It's The Rock. You wouldn't need to keep reminding people that he won it like they did with Daniel Bryan. This would set up the biggest pop in a long time because he would show up unannounced at a PPV or possibly RAW and win the title. Perfectly I might add setting him up for Mania. They would have to keep it low key and PPV buy rates could possibly increase with the possibility of him showing up at any one event.

I truly believe it would give the biggest pop and surprise in a long time.

Never thought of it, but that's a great idea - I'm sure Creative will never do it. :banghead:

It's similar to some of the thoughts of Jericho winning MITB and taking the briefcase with him on the road w/ Fozzy, but the pop for Rock would be HUGE. Plus it's a great way to "handcuff" him to the company for a while AND likely set up another Rock main event at WM.

A similar thought crossed my mind (though not the way you had it put together--yours was better lol)... however here's my personal problem with this scenario:

The Rock gets the MITB Briefcase. He cashes it in. He wins one of the belts (Presumably the WWE Championship) effectively throwing dirt on (but not entirely burying) that champion. Then, The Rock has the belt... but who does he face? Is he going to wrestle again at WM and drop the belt to someone?

My issue with the Rock being champ is that he wouldn't be making enough appearances to carry the belt, and it's extremely doubtful that he would wear it around at Hollywood premiers and appearances. If he did, this would be excellent... but I do not think he would do this.

THEN... on top of this, the MITB Briefcase is meant to get up and coming superstars over, which is my current problem with the WWE championship MITB match, which right now it looks like Cena is going to win.

It's a great idea, but there are many foreseeable issues that many fans (including kids) may have with the story... but to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing the Rock win the Briefcase rather than any of the guys in the WWE Championship MITB.

I agree and thought of that as well but remembered that Rock had stated on Raw that he wants another run. I'm guessing it would happen sooner or later. I would also only put the belt on him closer to Mania and have people wonder if he will show up sooner. I think that would sell PPVs.

I was thinking about this since they came up with the only former WWE champions stipulation. I was thinking of having him make a surprise announcement right befor the ppv. That would definitely be a shock. I hadn't thought about him winning it though. This particular money in the bank match isn't going to be used to enhance an up and comer anyway, so why not let him win. He can just show up at Wrestlemania and cash it in. It can go either way someone has to be the 1st to lose and if he does win I wouldn't make his title reign no more than 2 to 3 months. However, I rather him not win. I want Jericho to win, but he's not. This is really sat up for Cena to win the title back and probably hold it through late this year or until Wrestlemania.

Of course this would never happen but yeah I guess it would be Ermm...interesting?

Aswell as all the other problems pointed out, I just cannot see the rocks team of people allowing him to be in a match where he could easily get injured. One on one is fine but a multi man ladder match? No chance. The guy would be more out of his element than John mcclaine in Harlem with a 'I Hate N****s' sign. Besides, the rock is a top level competitor these days (even higher than cena) and it would be near impossible to make him look great in a match that is so far out of his comfort zone even when he was full time never mind part time. Vince and rocky's PR team just wouldn't allow it.

Not to mention that rock does not need the title and should never get the chance to be champ again. It should be for strictly full time performers that put in the effort all year round, no dispespect to dwayne! Im sure even he would agree with me.

i like the idea but i really cannot see rock coming back he more interested in making movies and that now he even dropped the name the rock so now people refer to by his normal name instead of the rock in the middle i can only realistic see him coming back and making a few apperance scattered across a year like he did last year which is a shame as him and austin and hbk could also get a huge pop even when they were heels

Unless Rock signs a deal were he has to be a full time wrestler for no less then 2 years I don't want him anywhere near the WWE title or WHC. He's fine with out the belt he draws no matter what or who you put him with. He's a good (for a lack of a better word) sideshow act just like HHH and the rest of the Part-timers.

I agree with you all but I think he will be champion because he said he wants to be which I believe means he will one day and my idea would allow him to do a minimal amount of dates which he wants. The risks of MITB are the only downside but the WWE have a way of making it look good without putting him in danger.
