I have an idea for Cody Rhodes...

Don't worry. It isn't me taking the mickey or anything, it's a legitimate idea although I will admit I only came up with it because I'm a fan of the guy. I'll try and summarise my points as much as possible:

- Firstly, Rhodes needs to be drafted to RAW
- Next, after Punk defends AND beats Jericho, Rhodes attacks him, getting a ton of heat in Punk's hometown
- Rhodes and Punk have a competitive title match at Over the Limit (bit of a throwaway PPV) with Punk successfully retaining
- After this, Rhodes announces his upcoming movie role as 'The Marine' (of course I know this is dependent on him actually getting the role but all of this is dependent on various scenarios)
- He turns this into a gimmick, like how The Rock had a 'Hollywood'-esque gimmick after his role as the 'Scorpion King'. He announces he's leaving for a while to film.
- Money in the Bank: One of the participants is injured and Rhodes returns and replaces him, winning the briefcase in a very cheap fashion (this doesn't have to happen to be perfectly honest but I think it would help legitimize the gimmick)
- The participant he attacked: Goldust. Yes, his brother who's trying to have one more run. They begin a feud with Rhodes new gimmick vs Goldust (whose original gimmick was basically his obsession over the glamour of Hollywood. He was made to look like a friggin' Oscar) with a match culminating at Summerslam (which takes place in L.A. and admittedly this coincidence was just that)

This path, if done would take Rhodes from now until Summerslam with a renewed push and no title needed whatsoever although he did a great job with the IC title imo.
With this last feud I'd also try and extend it to Survivor Series (a big 4 PPV) and have Cody retire Goldust there either in a one-on-one match or a traditional SS elimination match.

i like that idea, but this path can be done without him changing his gimmick imo.

I like the idea its pretty solid. I would also have had Goldust return a little earlier so he can re-introduce himself and get back in the fans mind. Have him have a mini feud with Swagger or someone just to get back over. Then have him feud with Rhodes. Id have Rhodes take out Goldust at MITB but don't have him return until around HIAC.

Cody could feud with any mid card guy for a bit. Maybe another feud with Orton, Rey or Punk. Then Goldust returns at HIAC screws Cody out of a WWE/World Title Match, make it a triple threat so theres no DQ. Then they have a Team Cody vs. Team Goldust match at Survivor Series, then a Career vs. MITB match at TLC. Cody wins then moves on.

Also as a side, id like to see Cody win the MITB. At WM have a title unification match (it has to happen soon and make the IC Title the second best title). Have the title match be Brock vs. Rock vs. Cena. Rock wins rumble, Cena WWE Champ, Brock World or any combo of those. Then have Rock win at WM pinning Brock. Then Cody cash in at WM and pin Rock. It would give him major heat and instantly on top of the pack since he is the Undisputed Champion.

i appreciate the time and effort you put into your post, i for one am a guy who wants to like rhodes, he has a great look and great on the mic, but he has not really given me a reason, and i try every week...

beautiful disaster is a great spot, but nothing else really sticks out in his matches to me...

i just cannot see cody rhodes as a main event guy with this roster...

cody is still very, very, very young, 25 if i am not mistaken...and brock was what, 27 and the youngest champ?

see where i am going with that?

Cody has many years of main eventing wrestlemania's and being champ(whether he deserves it our not), its just not going to be in 2012...

I think Rhodes can pull off the character. He is talented enough and it is not a complex idea. On one side this enables WWE to promote their film within the shows and still make the promotion seems genuine but on the other hand WWE would be promoting a movie using a guy that they want to be hated. I know it is 2012 but this still seems counterproductive. Maybe Rhodes does not get the film role and acts this way out of spite. This also gives him another guy to feud witha reason to feud with.

I like it, Well thought out. And Cody Rhodes is good on the mic, i liked his work with Big Show leading up to WM. Has 2 good finishers and could very well be the next big star.

Best Point you made: Have him attack punk, I disagree though about RAW, i think Punk should go to Smackdown. Let the Cena's, Brock's and Ortons have RAW, Let Smackdown be about Punk, Bryan, Rhodes and the new generation of Stars. And your also right on the money, he should be heel, Bryan is the only non generic heel and most interesting heel, Cody could establish himself up there with Bryan as the two top heels.

Worst Point: Id have to say winning the MITB. Its cheap, it devalues the title and the champion. I wouldnt have a problem seeing Cody get a title shot and winning clean. Having the fued with Goldust and getting some heat would be great. But have him bring Vickie Guerrero to Smackdown to manage him. The heat would be insane.

Can't see Rhodes involved in either of the top 2 titles any time soon. He even said on, i can't recall if it was Raw or Smackdown that he wants to win the IC Title again. Seems like WWE are keeping him around the mid card for now.

wow i really like that idea, it would certainly give rhodes direction for the next 4+months which would be better than a contiuning feud with Show. As a fan of goldust and rhodes I would love to see them fighting at Summerslam in hollywood, seems like it'd be the perfect way to end Goldust's career and let Cody take off into the main event picture

Wow I really love this idea for Cody and if anything it will make him more of a serious main eventer and it actually builds him up to become a more larger-than-life heel who can make any brand his show centered around him

If I can interject and add something, first of all, I like the idea. Lots of thought put into it. Heres what I would add, Cody is skinny, like an Oscar. I would have him attack his brother and announce that hes "As good as Gold...on second thought, Better!" and after winning matches, stand over his opponents in the Oscar pose. If the feud does go on long enough, you even could have him paint himself gold, like an Oscar, thus mocking his brother.

As a HUGE fan of the Runnels wrestling family, I absolutely LOVE this idea; every bit of it. Perfect push for Cody, perfect end for Dustin.
