How I Met Your Mother

There is no reason for this to be towards the bottom of page two. A legendary bump is needed. The past few episodes have been solid as always. Robin has somewhat become enjoyable again. I was with JMT (I think that is who mentioned her getting annoying), but since coupling with Kal Penn she has been better. Maybe it is the odd style of their relationship, but I think it is working. And the more I watch past episodes the more I believe Robin and Barney are getting married. Remember this season Lily calls Ted in and says the bride needs to speak to him. Well in season 6 Robin asks Ted to be her "best man" and help her from freaking out if she indeed gets married, maybe that is the case.

This week before last was probably my favorite of the season. Mystery vs. History was just a classic HIMYM episode in terms of writing and character. It focused on everyone and added bits to the story. We learn the sex of Marshall and Lily's baby and Kal Penn does a fabulous job describing the group. A great season thus far, I like it.

I agree, it has been solid so far and they haven't had any "filler" episodes like they've had in the past couple of seasons. I feel like they're doing a great job of telling the individual story in each episode but also telling the big story as well.

Theo, I agree, that Barney and Robin are getting married. If you look up-thread, you will see that was my prediction since they revealed that Barney is getting married. I think Nora and Kevin are both distractions and ultimately Barney and Robin will end up getting married.

I still think there's an outside shot that "the mother" is Barney's half-sister. They mentioned it briefly last season I believe then dropped it. Barney's dad said Barney has a half sister who is in school in New York. That has to play a role in the series at some point. They could have had her be in school in any random city but the fact that she's in New York and the fact that they're not talking about it makes me suspect that she could end up being the mother. It would make sense then, that she would be at Barney's wedding.

I'm right there with ya SDS, I believe the lead contender for the mother has to be Barney's half-sister. It makes sense and fits into the storyline. We didn't see a picture of her at the household and being schooled in NY and Ted teaching there, it makes sense. Though at this point that may be too obvious of a choice and usually the staff tends to shy away from the obvious and surprise us. They do a wonderful job at that and usually they never disappoint. So much potential in these next two seasons, as I believe they will likely be the last. I have faith in the writers as they haven't let us down in the past.

It is really good to see that Kal Penn finally had some decent role in the last episode. Him standing up to the gang and going to see Weird Al concert with Ted were nice touches.

Barney and Nora's relationship is quite interesting and they make a good couple. But am I the only one to feel that it is going on too smoothly?

If you analyze the characters, Barney really can't be "Barney" around Nora. I think ultimately he will end up with Robin because she loves him for who he is... Barney!

I think Robin and Nora are really the only two choices. I don't see how there's enough time to introduce a new love interest to the point where Barney would want to marry her.

I loved the ****ty Pumpkin episode. I'm glad they finally brought us some closure to that storyline. What I really enjoyed was the who angle of Barney being part Canadian. I thought that was pretty funny and they did a great job telling that story.

Is this foreshadowing of Robin and Barney ending up together (as they're both Canadian)? Or is this a bluff to make us think that it's Barney and Robin getting married?

Finally, I thought it was funny with the whole "pregnancy brain" storyline.

This episode had 3 solid storylines that advanced the main story.

I love the continuity and detail in this show. For example, when Barney had the American/Uncle Sam Costume, he had the Ducky Tie tied to his arm.

That got me thinking about another continuing story that they haven't brough up in awhile... the slap bet. I think there's one slap left and I'm guessing Marshall uses it on Barney at the wedding.

Loved every episode of the current season until the ****ty pumpkin episode. It was one of the few episodes that was just painful to sit through. First the positive, the Barney is part Canadian sub plot stole the show even though it was given the least time. It is sad that this simple and silly gag was able to steal the show from a really bad episode.

Now the bad parts: everything else. The pregnancy brain sub plot is so ridiculous that it actually insult the intelligence of the audience. Sure you can make a joke about being scattered-brain but making Lilly behave and sound like a complete idiot was overkill and in bad taste (not in a good way because it wasn't funny at all).

Why would Ted be waiting for same random girl for 10 years if he had a few serious girlfriends since the show started? Robin, Stella, Zoey(?) The main storyline just seem like a lazy finish by writers to give closure to the pumpkin storyline for long time fans of the show. They could have made her married/divorced with a kid in earlier seasons when the theme was about how long Ted has been searching for the 'right one''. Instead it is just a throwaway stunt casting episode. Would be better to just leave the story alone instead of giving us a sloppy closure.

I was iffy about the ****ty Pumpkin episode. I'm glad we finally got closure on that angle as it was a great little storyline. However I found Katie Holmes not to work with Ted, I guess that was the point. I found it a bit annoying and didn't really feel it. Not sure if that sounds confusing or not, but it is hard to explain.

The Canadian Barney thing was freaking great though. Really made the episode better. It was definitely the best part for sure. Barney was perfect through the whole thing and the American thing at the end was awesome.

Pregnancy brain was a nice storyline. Not great, but it was still solid and amusing. I definitely feel this was one of the lower episodes of the season, but you can't be perfect.

This week's episode was great. It was really good to see the Slap Bet, which IMO is the best storyline of the series. Barney's story about how the bird took his tie at the beginning of the episode was hilarious and keeping in line with his ways. The whole Hurricane Irene stuff and Ted's boy scout preparedness was very well done. And of course at the end we had Barney and Robin rekindling their romance which was expected but still good to see. It will really be interesting to see where they go from here on.

HIMYM is really at its best when it mixes a few stories filled with romance and comedy, as seen in this episode.

This was arguably the best episode of the season in my eyes. We see some new storylines developing here. We have Barney, who is dying to impress Nora's parents take a step back and kiss Robin. Meanwhile Robin seems to have a good thing with Kevin. It will definitely be interesting to see where the show goes from here. Could this be the end of Barney and Nora or will Barney hide it from her while Robin and him continue on with their current relationships. They are really making it difficult for us to chose if it will be Robin or Nora that Barney gets married to. We see pros/cons for each one and it was leaning heavily towards Nora it seemed until this episode.

Better episode than the last one for sure. The Barney and Robin storyline is definitely more interesting than Ted's quest to find the mother thats for sure. The ridiculous bear gag was funny because it was so exaggerated that we know it is just the imagination. Last week's pregnancy gag would have the same effect if the voiceover can just claim ' and I am not kidding here kids or true story' to show that it was and exaggeration by future Ted in the storytelling.

Very solid episode. I love that the slap bet returned. Marshall began the episode with one slap left and ended with 2 (after slapping Barney twice!!). I believe I found an inconsistency though. Unless, Barney has to wear the Ducky tie again, they showed him in a flashfoward scene in the season premiere (i think it was) at a casino table with Ted and Marshall, and I"m almost positive he had the tie on. Future Ted said "we'll get to that later." So, if he doesn't lose a bet and have to put the tie back on, they messed that up.

At any rate, I loved the Barney-Robin kiss at the end. I really think it's those two that end up getting married. But now we have to wonder, are they feeding us this angle so we forget about Barney-Nora or so we question that relationship, only to have them end up getting married?

The producers don't like make things too obvious in this show so as of now, I'd have to say it's Barney and Nora getting married, since they're making us think that Barney and Robin are getting married.

Wow. Just wow. I finally watched Monday's episode. I thought it would be the other way around, Robin would show up at McLaren's without Kevin but Barney would be there with Nora.

This really throws a twist into everything. I thought that scene at the bar was done really well and I actually found myself feeling sorry for Barney. When Barney was taking the rose pedals off of the bed and Ted saw him, that was a very sad.

I honestly don't know where we go from here: Are they trying to make us think that Barney has given up on Robin or are they trying to make us think that Barney and Nora are all done and could never get back together? Could there possibly be a new girl, as a rebound, that Barney wants to marry hastily?
The one thing I do know is that single Barney is back for the moment and so the next couple episodes will probably be LEGEN.......wait for it...... DARY!

Just started watching this show about 3 weeks ago. This show is great and I can only assume it gets better. I am currently in the second season (I just watched Slap Bet) and it's not a laugh until I cry type of show but I keeps me very entertained. Unfortunately there is a lot of Canadian bashing with Robin.

This weeks episode was pretty damn good. The whole part with Marshal and Ted high as shit looking for Lilly's nachos was fucking hilarious thinking it was the whole night only to find out that they walked around in a 10 foot circle for 2 minutes thinking it was 6 hours
(
Marshal leans into Lilly
Marshal: Lilly doesn't know I'm High
Lilly: You're high Marshal
Marshal leans into Ted
Marshal: Lilly doesn't know I'm High
).

I also liked the other story with Barney and Robin hooking up and the ending was expected but with a twist as I definitely thought it would be Barney with Nora not Robin with Kevin and it made you really feel bad for Barney at the end cleaning up the rose pedals and candle surprise he had for her in her room. Also the boat ride had some funny moments like the song that was sung while they were on the boat. It was a funny episode and hit some emotional and necessary cords to boot.

You hit the nail on the head deanerandterry. This week's episode was fantastic. It hit every chord possible when it came to emotion. Ted and Marshall were great at the concert, and Barney was hilarious on the boat. You gotta feel for Barney and I'm interested to see how his character develops throughout the rest of the season. Definitely keeping us on our feet.

I've always loved how they call smoking pot, "eating sandwiches." Last night was hysterical and I figured Lilly would say it had only been a short period of time that they had been out there. I can definitely relate as I've eaten plenty of sandwiches in my time :icon_wink:

Man, this week's episode was brilliant. The whole bit with Ted and Marshall scavenging for Lily's nachos was hilarious when they showed it in two minutes. But damn, gotta feel for Barney in this one. I'm interested to see Ted's reaction to this Barney/Robin thing going on. Maybe we see Ted somehow getting involved with Robin and we see Ted and Barney going for Robin who's still with Kevin. Great episode, spot on with all the emotions this week.

This week's episode was brilliant. The flow of emotions between Barney and Robin were well portrayed. The whole Ted-Marshal getting high part was hilarious. The scene involving Kevin in the hospital expressing his feelings for Robin was well done and showed Kevin in a very positive light. And of course, Sandy Rivers was great. Though the whole episode was filled with cliches, there was not a dull moment in this episode.

I am really excited to see where the whole Robin-Barney thing goes.

Yes by far the best episode of the season. I know the buddy get high joke is either love it or hate it but the twist at the end really made me burst into laugher. How did I not see the its a sign thing initially was a giant hint? Haha.

The song on the boat was hilarious too. And if you notice carefully the concert goers behind the main characters were sharing sandwiches too. When Barney told Nora the truth, I felt really sorry for Nora as her expression show she really thought Barney was her 'the one' and wanting to believe the cheating was a one time thing. Wonder if this episode means Nora is out as the potential bride or another curveball thrown at us by the writers.

I am excited about the latest casting for a recurring role later on in the season. Spoiler alert:
Becki Newton of Ugly Betty has been cast to play Barney's love interest. Excited to see her on the show as she's hot and funny.
.

I just saw Monday's episode.

Holy shit is all I can say. The episode itself was alright, nothing special but again the ending with Robin and Barney was a jaw-dropper. So many questions now.

If you haven't seen it, I don't want to spoil anything but Robin drops a bombshell at the very end.

Holy shit is all I can say.

Couldn't have put it in better words myself. I actually thought that the whole episode was brilliant. The Ted-Barney wanting to adopt a child was a great storyline and kinda made sense considering their luck with their past relationships. Ted is really his at best when he acts like a deeply emotional guy who longs for a family. The Lily-Marshal part was also fine.

The ending was simply mind-blowing and would be very interesting to see where they go with this story.

This season really has been one of HIMYM's best especially because of the way that Barney's character has evolved from a guy that hated relationships to a guy that wants to settle down and have a family.

Three episodes in a row with meaningful endings. That has to be a record for sitcoms.

The highlight for me were the scenes between Barney and Ted. The idea that two straight friends would adopt a kid together while drunk felt fresh and original. Their back and forth dialogue was hilarious and so well done. I can't believe sometimes that Doogie Howser M.D. is one of my all time favorite comedic actors in 2011.

I've only recently watched this programme regularly and I absolutely love it. Definitely one of the better ones out there.

The latest series has been fantastic so far, I can't wait until next weeks episode to see how Barney handles Robin's bombshell.

Another great episode!

I was shocked with how it appeared that Future Robin had revealed something so major, it was mind blowing. As the episode went on I figured it was some sort of bluff but they handled it really well.

I loved that kid that fooled Marshall. That was hilarious. It was great when Marshall looked throught the skylight and the kid was eating a sandwich.

Good stuff.
