Henry and Ryback Break NFL Record

Fire Marshall Bill

Let me show ya somethin!!!
As advertised by WWE, Ryback and Mark Henry will compete in a weight lifting competition this week on Smackdown, and WWE.com has spoiled part of the segment by noting that Henry and Ryback broke the NFL record for the 225-pound bench press with 53 repetitions each. The previous record of 51 reps was set by Justin Ernest at the 1999 NFL Combine.

I can do that but I don't wanna... :lmao:

:eek2:

What's even more amazing to me is that for the sake of the segment I'm sure a certain number was agreed upon that would result in a "tie".

Meaning the likely case is that one of them(probably Henry, who holds several power lifting records) would have been able to keep going beyond that point. It makes you wonder- how many times could he really put up 225 if he weren't working within the confines of a produced segment?

I'm pretty sure they both could do more (it's kinda stupid to stop at one guy's maximum because if they were having an off day they might not reach the agreed number). Probably not much more, given that's a hell of a set of bench presses but still.

I'm not sure who could actually do more, because while I don't doubt Henry could bench more weight than Ryback, lifting a weight that's not even close to your one rep max multiple times is probably more a test of endurance than strength. But I know fuck all about lifting so I'm probably completely wrong on that one.

This whole thing is FUNNY, the only record Ryback will break is the number of botched shellshock's at WM.

:burn:

I think he'll do it fine.

You're right. But anyone who does 225 53 times (and I'm sure they weren't near max) has pretty much already proven they're really strong anyways.

I may be the only one, but I hope this leads to them having a mutual admiration for one another, and after WrestleMania they become a kick the fuck out of everyone Tag Team ala Big Show/Kane back in 2006.

Do you want to know the ridiculous truth? Ryback is 31, and likely in his peak physical prime. Mark Henry is over 40, and way past his.

This is what he could do in his prime...

I actually think this would be a cool idea. Not heel. Not face. Just destroy anyone in their path. Frankly, they'd probably be cheered like crazy eventually. They wouldn't even need to cut promos very much. Essentially, it'd be just how Ryback debuted except against tag teams.

My biggest issue is the current lack of tag teams makes it seem like less of a big deal. They could build them by having random superstars pair together for a one time deal to see if they can challenge them... I mean that strictly as a storyline so they have more of the roster to run through.

Holy fuck. If they threw Big E Langston (who also holds many legit state and national powerlifting records) this shit would be a segment, itd be the show
