Hardcore Justice

shattered dreams

Hexagonal Hedonist
I do not put much stock in those "reports" about TNA PPV numbers because they never have enough context to mean much but I thought it might be of interest to the haters around here that Meltzer said Hardcore Justice was their second most purchased PPV last year.

I'm speechless, really. Well, then again, Wrestlemania did over a million buys, so clearly wrestling isn't an issue when it comes to getting buyrates.

I don't want to make this a WWE vs. TNA thread, but...

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

WrestleMania was a better wrestling show than anything TNA has put out in the past year and a half.

That doesn't really surprise me. It was a special attraction and it probably drew in outside fans. What would matter in my eyes is what buyrates did after that, as in how many fans did they keep.

According to these reports, it's 30,000 for Bound for Glory, 20,000 for Hardcore Justice. Pretty damning indictment if true IMO.

It would certainly explain why they kept the ECW guys around for a while in spite of all you experts telling them how stupid that was. They had a little bump before and after in ratings but it wasn't necessarily sustained. I do think you could make an argument that this was the catalyst towards getting back to where they were and then actually having their best second half of the year ever ratings wise.

Just another chapter in ROH doesn't sell and nostalgia beats almost anything going today as far as I am concerned. Why the IWC insists this isn't the case I have no idea.

Nostalgia. Same as bringing The Rock back but on a far smaller scale, drags in those who were fans back in the day and stopped watching.

As a side note I think Sacrifice was perhaps match for match the best PPV I've seen in a good long while. The worst match was the world title match quick wasn't exactly unexpected, but most every other match was at least solid and some were really good. And it wasn't just wrestling, there was some good dramatic moments thrown in.

More heel wins might have been better such as Harris and Hardy beating Beer Money to carry things on a little bit, but it's a marginal complaint. Watched it avidly.

Right. If I wanna see fancy people with fancy entrances, I'll watch a Red Carpet show. If I wanna see wrestling, I'd watch anything but Wrestlemania 27 and 25.

Interesting. It makes you think what they were doing in the ring all that time. I could have sworn it was professional wrestling.

All what time? They wasted a good bulk of the show on pomp. If you want wrestling, watch the PPV after WrestleMania?

What's TNA's August PPV this year?

"All that time" was a meaningless turn of phrase. I wasn't trying to say that WrestleMania was all, or even mostly, wrestling.

So you admit I'm right and Wrestlemania 27 barely had wrestling outside of Triple H vs Undertaker and that a HUGE (too huge) premise of the show was wasted on intro's, lousy promo's, more intro's and a brutally underwhelming main event?

Not shocking at all. Many people hated it but I really enjoyed it. Had a old school feel and gave the ECW guys one last show to preform at since WWECW went to crap after all the good talent left.
