Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I'm definitely looking for The Man with the Iron Fists to be more of an ensemble piece rather than relying on any one particular actor. Well, more than anything I suspect it will be a movie you watch to see people get into awesome kung fu fights, but as far as the acting go I can't imagine that they're going to rely too heavily on any one person.

Sorry to beat you to the punch, not really but I'll say it anyway.

RZA is actually a decent actor but he's gotta be put in the right role, and this obviously wasn't it. He's got a lot of charisma but for some reason showed none whatsoever in the film. Directing wise I think he did a fine job and considering he's a huge fan of kung fu movies I think he did pretty damn well.

Also saw the trailer for Django Unchained, looks pretty solid I'll probably check that out as well.

I think RZA would have done a lot better with the character if he wasn't directing the film. The character had some serious potential but when it came down to the moments where the character needed to develop it just fell flat. He still did a great job directing the movie, my friends and I had a blast watching it, and Batista was pretty good in the movie too. My only gripe with the film was RZA's character, and the Steven Tyler looking motherfucker with the creepy eyebrow dude Poison Dart following him around.

Django looks fucking cool, more so that Quinton Tarentino is directing it and from the looks of it everyone who is going to get shot is going to burst like a balloon. "There's no such thing as too much blood."

From what I understand RZA had given Tarantino somewhere around 4 hours worth of film that he actually wanted in the final cut, but they cut it down to the 1 1/2 hrs that it ended up as. I'm thinking if they fully release a director's cut on Blu Ray with the cut scenes it may actually flesh the story out quite a bit. A few times it felt fairly disjointed with the story like we were skipping over a lot of plot points that should have been covered, and that would've helped RZA's character a lot.

Trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible here so I'll stop before I accidentally post any. It was rough around the edges, I think there's a lot of the movie that got left on the cutting room floor, and whether some of that would have helped or hurt we may never know.

It looks like it's gonna be a bloodbath and a half.

And with that, I'm off to bed because I'm at my in laws and completely blanked on bringing my laptop AC adapter.

JGlass, you seen Rampart? Once you get over the weirdness of Woody Harrelson playing a morally ambiguous cop, it's a hell of a ride. Superb supporting cast and some really nice shot choices.

Also congrats on your book Barbosa.

I can't say I have, but I think I heard my roommates talking about that movie last night. Weird.

I'm kind of in the mood for a JGlass double feature at the movie theater today, but I'm also in the mood for a JGlass sits around and plays video games, naps, and takes a Chinese quiz type of day. If it wasn't for that Chinese quiz I'd have a sit around and play video game and nap type of day, but as such I'll need to be at least a little productive.

It wasn't too bad up here at all. Classes were cancelled for the day which was probably the right call considering there were some strong gusts of wind that could probably knock a light student off of their feet, but it was business as usual on Tuesday.

My parents got lucky back home. My mom was home alone because my dad was in China on business, but it seems like my town got extremely lucky as she said things aren't that bad, and I don't think she ever lost power either, or at least not for a long stretch of time. I think my dad is flying back today, provided Newark is open, but my mom still can't go into work since she works in the city, and New York is pretty messed up right now.

I saw LI got pretty clobbered, is the recovery going well for you?

1. Glad to hear everything is OK.

2. All things considered I got pretty lucky. We are without power since Monday, but a few people I know lost their house and/or the vast majority of their belongngs. I live about a mile and a half from the ocean and the water got about10 houses away. I am hopeful that we will get power back in the next day or so.

I'm considering going to the theater & doing a double feature myself, just not seeing both movies back to back (does that still count as a double feature?), I'm thinking of seeing Cloud Atlas in the theaters first showing of the day (12:45), then going & taking care of Walmart shopping & hitting up on LCS, before going home eating, playing some video games & possibly taking a nap, than later tonight heading back to the theater for the 9:50 showing of Wreck-It Ralph, since I got preoccupied & didn't go last night as I originally had planned.

I'm in a "Doc plays WWE13 all day" day. Been making CAW after CAW. So fun. But man I want to see Wreck-It Ralph some time. My friend saw it yesterday, gave it two thumbs up.

Nah, you gotta go back to back for a double feature, two for the price of one style.

I'm actually going to see Argo with a few lady friends tonight. All things considered, I could do worse.

I might go to the movies tomorrow to see Wreck-It Ralph all by myself. Seems like a movie I might enjoy more if I'm alone so I can mark out to all the video game references to myself. Then again, Sunday seems like a good day to take your kid to the movies, so maybe I'll just wait until it's a weekday or something.

Enjoy WWE13, and post pictures of your Saxton and Saboteur CAWs!

Argo is amazing, easily in my top 3 for the year.

Not sure if I'm going to get to Cloud Atlas today after all. My cousin & I are suppose to swing by my grandma's & pick up the 12 or so bags of leaves she needs dumped. I was told not to disappear anywhere until this is done. I have no problem doing this, & I'd rather just do it in the morning & get it out of the way so I don't have to deal with anything the rest of the weekend, but god damn I wish my cousin would get his shit together & get over here so we could get it done & over with, this is literally like a 15-20 min. job.

Yeah, I have an editor and a publisher so my next step is to post it to them and wait for them to send me the "prototype" book.

Already in preliminary negotiations for another book and have a form to fill in regarding getting my PhD published too.

So hopefully soon, you will all be able to contribute to the "Barbosa never has to do a proper day's work again" fund

I suppose congratulations are in order, how was the writing?

Arduous? Joyous?

This is the part of the year I hate - when 'Muricans get all the good films and I have to wait months. Fortunately, Argo is only out on the 7th this month, not next year.

At least you got Skyfall like, a day early. Also, normally I'd like to hold the fact that we get so many great movies before you over your head, but Cloud Atlas is so phenomenal that I just can't do it. It's sort of like... wait, how did that pokemon quote make it into your signature?

Your analysis of dragon pokemon needs to reach the masses, OK? Just accept it.

It's weird that I just noticed that because this morning I similarly voiced my opinion about the Dratini evolutionary line when my friend posted a picture of his Pokemon, one of which was a Dratini. He needed to know Dratini sucks.

I'm a fan of the Dratini line. Sure, its level up moves aren't great, it levels up slowly and evolves at a stupidly high level, but Dragonite is awesome.

My Scrafty knows Ice Punch. Yo' dragon pokemon better run.

Multiscale + hurricane = Fucked Scrafty. Dragonite then roosts off the damage.

I'd take one Scrafty before I took one thousand Dragonites, and I haven't even played past Gen 3. Scrafty just looks like a badass and has an awesome typing combo.

Just got back from Argo. Pretty fantastic stuff. I wish I kept better track of the films I've seen in theaters this year so I could rank it, but Argo was definitely one of the more enjoyable ones.
