Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I've still not seen any of Cloud Atlas or Argo, trailers and such. What are they about?

Just typed up a review in that review thread and after reading it, I feel like a dick. Don't worry though, I like being a dick.

Just got back from Argo. Pretty fantastic stuff. I wish I kept better track of the films I've seen in theaters this year so I could rank it, but Argo was definitely one of the more enjoyable ones.

Remember when people use to shit all over Affleck & call him terrible because he was in shit like Paycheck, Daredevil, Gigli, & Surviving Christmas, etc.? The he comes out & makes his directorial debut with Gone Baby Gone, hits that out of the park, that directs another home-run in The Town, & now kills it again with Argo. Turns out the Affleck fella has some talent after all. I'd have to say he's among my favorite filmmakers right now. I just hope he sticks to doing his own thing & doesn't go off & start doing remakes, sequels, or film adaptations of famous licensed products, I like what Afflecks doing right, not only cause his films are good, but they also feel fresh & different from all the reboots, unnecessary sequels, & cartoon/comic/book/ect. adaptations.

If I were to list the five movies that I've enjoyed the most this year, off the top of my head & in no particular order, I think I would have to go with the following

  • Argo
  • Looper
  • Avengers
  • TDKR
  • Prometheus

Cloud Atlas is a very complex movie that you really just need to see and draw your own conclusions on.

Argo is about a CIA/Canadian operation launched in 1979 to rescue the US hostages in Iran where they created a fake film and extracted six hostages under the guise of being a film crew.

Review thread? What review thread?

Prometheus made your top 5? That's rough. Go see Cloud Atlas to bump it.

Damn, I was hoping Argo was about Jason and his pals' quest for the golden fleece.

Argo is actually short for Argo fuck yourself.

I was planning to, but had to wait for my cousin to get my uncles truck so we could get rid of all my grandmas leaves, which was stupid cause my uncle just decided to do it himself, but by the time that happened I missed the showing I was planning on going to. I was going to see Wreck it Ralph but got sucked into my game & just realized it started like 35 mins. ago, oh well, I'll just see Ralph later this week after work, probably Weds. cause there isn't shit on TV Weds. nights anyway, especially now that Baseball is done & Hockey is still in lock out mode.

I've heard nothing but great things about Wreck it Ralph, so I'll probably see that next weekend, probably in conjunction with The Man with the Iron Fists.

After I realized I wasn't going to be able to see Cloud Atlas today I thought about seeing Iron Fists, but it's not playing the theater by me, & I really didn't feel like driving 30 mins. across town to see it.

Oh & fuck Hades, fucking asshole JUST WON'T FUCKING DIE!!!

Just came back from Wreck it Ralph and holy fucking shit that was a fantastic film, if I had to make a top 5 of the movies I watched this year it would be

  • Avengers
  • Wreck it Ralph
  • Seven Psychopaths
  • The Expendables 2
  • Ted

Mind you this is a list without seeing Argo, Cloud Atlas, and Tyler Perry's Witness Protection.

I've seen the Avengers, Exp 2, and 21 jump street this year, I'm not a really big movie theatre kind of guy. To many people that I want to tell to shut the fuck up.

How the fuck did Prometheus and Expendibles make it on top 5 lists? Where's the Paranorman? Where's the Moonrise Kingdom? Where's Hunger Games?

If I had to pick a top 5, I'd likely say...

Cloud Atlas
Argo
Avengers
The Master
Moonrise Kingdom

I haven't seen Paranorman, Moonrise Kingdom, or Hunger Games. I can only go off movies I saw, & my list consist of movies I enjoyed, & I enjoyed Prometheus. The Master looks boring as hell to me, nothing about the movie interest me at all.

Dredd, Expendables 2, & Amazing Spider-Man would all be just outside of my top 5 as well.

Any of you **** see Louis CK host SNL tonight?

I haven't watched SNL in like 15 yrs., so no.

Well what I was getting at is that there were a bunch of great movies that nobody listed so I assumed nobody had seen. Had you seen them I would assume they would have bumped Prometheus off your list, considering Prometheus was all sorts of bad. An enjoyable ride until you turned your brain on.

Dredd, Expendables 2, & Amazing Spider-Man would all be just outside of my top 5 as well.

Spider-Man was pretty fantastic and I heard very good things about Dredd. I get the appeal of The Expendables, but I'm surprised to see so many people putting it in their fave 5 for the year, especially because I heard Expendables 2 was a mess.

Why yes, yes I did.

There were some slow points like normal but it was still pretty good if only for the man above. His monologue had me rolling- "I wish I were attracted to old ladies."....

It was a mess, but a fun mess. If you wanted a movie of fights, blowing up shit and one-liners then you got yourself a good flick. Random Chuck Norris sightings, a certain disappearing Asian had me perplexed enough to rewind and Van Dam is a douche. There is your review.

End Of Watch is the only film worth talking about this year. If you haven't seen it, we have nothing to talk about. And even then, I doubt I'll be yammering for long.

Sounds like things will be staying the same around here then.

I want to go see movies, but I have no car, so it's an awfully difficult proposition for me. There's a theater that's theoretically walkable from my dorm, but it's in a less than savory neighborhood...so.

Is public transportation an option? I know students can ride the bus for free if they show their student ID here in Utah.

There's no public transit system in Cleveland? I figured Cleveland never wins anything in sports there buses and trains would be safe from destruction.
