Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Eurovision this year was worth it for two acts in particular. Greece's "Alcohol Is Free" and Romania's "It's My Life". Alcohol is Free was an incredibly bouncy and catchy tune, and It's My Life...well...it needs to be seen to be believed. Everyone in the Skype call popped hard for both.

I still don't understand why this happens, and I don't know what's more hilarious: the music and performances or the fact that this is actually a thing.

Caught an early showing this morning, and Star Trek Into Darkness was just amazing. Loved every second of it, and Cumberbatch was a great villain.

Amazing is exactly what the movie was. It gave me faith in the J.J. Abrams Star Wars sequels, as well as the sci-fi genre in general. It was an unbelievably good movie. I'm happy to see everyone likes it as much as I did!

And yes, Cumberbatch blew the lid off with his Khan performance. Has to be one of the most compelling film villains I've seen in years.

I had similar feelings after Into Darkness. Although, Abrams or no Abrams, I'm convinced nothing can be as bad as Attack Of The Clones.

And speaking of Abrams, did you enjoy Super 8? More often than not, I thought Abrams was trying way too hard to imitate and pay homage to 80's Spielberg, but I still enjoyed Super 8 as a nostalgic summer blockbuster.

Those 2 acts were pretty great. I only ever watch the Eurovision for it's silliness these days. Moldova suspiciously lacked absurdity this year. Romania's act looked like the final boss of a JRPG, particularly with his dancers. Still bummed Ireland came last, i know we were better than Bonnie Tyler anyways.

The half time show was utterly amazing. Sweden can take the piss out of themselves like no other.

It actually used to mean something. Now all the countries just give their neighbors votes, England could resurrect Lennon and Harrisson and send the Beatles but they still wouldn't win because they don't have enough neighbors. One of the few exceptions to this case was when Lordi won years ago.

Wow, that Romanian can hit some serious high notes.

The halftime show was fucking brilliant. As my friend put it, "It's like the Triple H promo before the pedigree." Best performance of the show, and it wasn't even up for vote!

Also, for nobody who's never seen it: Moldova and their string of epic acts:

Duke Nukem on sax

I have no idea how to describe this:

Suspenders guy(The tamest of the 3 but he looks like some sort of Ed Norton/Collin Farrell hybrid

I just got home from it, fucking awesome movie!! Makes me want to check out some of the other Star Trek stuff on Netflix & rewatch Wrath of Kahn (which I don't think I've seen since like 5th or 6th grade).

I remember think at one point during the movie "If they ever make a Mass Effect movie, J.J. needs to direct" then thinking "I should to start playing Mass Effect this afternoon when I get home".

I'm really looking forward to his Star Wars films now more than I was before, I think with guys like J.J. Abrams, Guillermo del Toro, & Neill Blomkamp around that the Sci Fi film genre could be about at the best it's been in a long while.

And yes, Cumberbatch blew the lid off with his Khan performance. Has to be one of the most compelling film villains I've seen in years.

His performance kinda makes you wanna check out Sherlock now doesn't it.

Same thing happened to me today! It's funny, because I've never been a big Star Trek fan, and I hardly know anything about the shows or the movies. Wrath Of Kahn is the only old Star Trek film I can clearly remember, and I haven't seen the ones starring Patrick Stewart since I was a kid.

And of course, I go to Best Buy to pick up Star Trek 2009, and they didn't have it. :suspic:

Would any of you chaps be so good as to join me in the Extreme Rules LD later tonight? Worth watching just to see The Shield/Hell No and what will actually be quite a significant title change.

Same. I've been popping on Original Series episodes while I'm hanging out.

I think they are making a Mass Effect movie, and I think Abrams would be fantastic with that. And yes, you should play Mass Effect.

No, but only because I don't really watch too many TV mysteries and because he just has the perfect face for a villain.

It sounds like Star Trek stuff on Netflix is getting a lot of hits.

This is why the internet is a thing. Well, that and to watch porn.

Sorry pal, I was doing the NJX thing and watching it with IC25 and D-Man (NorCal was working). Thought the show was fantastic though. Top to bottom it was a great match.

I added a bunch of Star Trek series to my queue, probably gonna be my "go to sleep to show" for a while.

Started ME1 earlier, I'm not very deep in but thoroughly enjoying it so far.

"I can see you, Kirk... can you see me?"

I have come to realize that I am scared of my little sister. It's not that I'm afraid she's going to do any serious physical or emotional damage to me if I upset her, but I know that if I anger her she will do everything she can to make the rest of my day shitty.

For instance, she is still asleep right now, and I have to wake her up so she can take her stuff out of the car we share (she just moved back from college this week) so I can take it to get an oil change, because in the five months she was driving it at college she never once took it in for an oil change.

Anyway, I know if I wake her up now she is going to be pissy as shit and just spend the rest of the day being a complete bitch to me, but I really need that car to get an oil change because I want to drive it to the Mets game tomorrow. I'm going to have to bite the bullet on this one and prepare for a very trying day.

Why don't you just take her stuff out of the car... or you could just get a job & buy your own car & not have ot share one with your sister anymore

We all have our Kryptonite.

She was super bitchy when she woke up, but fortunately for me she took it out on our dad. I don't know why, our dad is awesome, and the only thing he said is that she should go to bed earlier so she doesn't have to sleep until noon, to which she replied, "Screw you."

Good thing she's so polite to us. I took her car in for an oil change and maintenance and he's paying for it, so it only makes sense that she acts like a total bitch.

Why don't you just take her stuff out of the car... or you could just get a job & buy your own car & not have ot share one with your sister anymore

Because it's her shit, and it's been in the car since Thursday when I took time out of my day to drive down to Baltimore, help her load her shit into the car, and then drove her back up.

Oh, and now I'm the one taking her car in for an oil change and tuneup because in the 5 months she was driving her car around Maryland it never occurred to her that maybe she would need to get regular maintenance.

And the reason we share a car is because, except for a short stretch last year, I didn't need a car, and at this point, still don't. In fact, I rarely even use this car because most of the time I have to drive I'm running errands for my parents, and I'll just use one of their cars. I'm only doing this because I know she won't and I'm trying to be helpful to my parents since they're, you know, letting me live in their house and eat their food for a month or so.

AND... I'm probably going to buy a car sometime within the next month because I'm planning on starting my own business in Boston and I'll need a vehicle for that.

If you're worried about having a shitty day, why would you go to a Mets game?

That... is a good point. They really suck lately. Their only real bright spot is Matt Harvey, but I don't think he's pitching.

Looks like I'll be joining you in watching Star Trek: TOS when Space (Canadian television channel for nerds) decides to start airing it from the beginning. They're airing 1969 episodes right now, so it shouldn't be long.

As for Sherlock, don't bother. Steven Moffat has take Doctor Who to a terrible place creatively. Undoubtedly he'll find a way to fuck up Sherlcok as well.

Here's a thought. Let her sleep and bring the car to wherever you plan to bring it and get the oil change done with her stuff still inside it. Then bring it back and tell her after she wakes up what an awesome brother you were by getting the oil change done without disturbing her beauty sleep. Why does her stuff have to be out of the car just to go for an oil change?

Or here's another thought. Change the oil yourself. Now you're an even better brother.
