Gamers unite -HQ

Hands down Metal Gear Solid V was the single most impressive game at E3, absolutely no other game came close to what MGS V was showing.

I am not ready for what that games gonna make me feel.

I'm in two minds about Nintendo. I think they really ballsed up but their lineup for this year is a constant stream.

I love how gamertrailers purposely held onto that interview until after the Sony conference, makes it just that much more brilliant. The entire interview is a joke though, "the only people I know of without a good Internet connection live in neuclear subs" - does Microsoft even have a pr department??

Wii U stuff was pretty great, but I'm not falling into the trap of buying it just for 4 games.... Again... (damn you nintendo wii)

The Wii had some of my favourite games ever.

Yeah it's funny that Microsoft have gone "fuck you bastards with shit internet" where Nintendo have gone "Oh we've had some people who wanted New Super Luigi but don't have the internet. Here's a box version then".

You say that like people have not been buying Xboxs and Playstations for a rather similar number of games/series.

Yeah, but the ones on Xbox and PS come out in a timely manner. Halo, God of War, Call of Duty, etc. don't leave you hanging nearly as bad as Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

I'd still take Mario Galaxy 1, 2, Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword over any of those interminable shooting games even if they are only released once every few years.

Nintendo has made back-to-back paperweights that occasionally act as game consoles. I'm not saying Nintendo games aren't awesome, they usually are. But between the long waits for a triple-A release and the lack of dedicated 3rd party support, I just can't endorse what they've had going with the two Wii's. I mean it's pretty inexcusable for the Wii U to not have any of Nintendo's signature franchises represented and for the next Zelda game to be a remake. If you're trying to get a jump on the competition, bring out the heavy artillery and shell them before they even hit the battlefield.

Seemingly Mario is not a signature Nintendo franchise.

Oh definitely. In a way, Nintendo was very lucky with how popular their new approach with the Wii became as the clamouring to play Wii Sports. It overshadowed the inexcusable lack of top quality/big name games available on release. The Wii U release was perhaps even worse as aside from Nintendoland, which has not proven to be this generations Wii Sports, there isn't even a Twilight Princess type release just around the corner. Both Mario and Zelda are only in the pipeline rather than only a few weeks away.

Had there been Wii U Sports and just one of their headline series - Mario, Mario Kart or Zelda - ready to go on release then combined with Nintendoland, ZombiU, the porting of the likes of Arkham City, Assassin's Creed, Darksiders 2 and Fifa 13, then you the makings of a good and varied line up.

Unfortunately, without a headline game from one of the big series to draw, people have been just judging the Wii U from afar rather than actually playing it. Personally, I think it is a rather good system with just the right amount of interactivity and a surprisingly good Gamepad but many are/will not give it a decent crack of the whip because it is a "kid's console" (which it clearly isn't) or the lack of star power up front.

The New Super Mario Bros. U is akin to The Wind Waker re-release. I'm talking about something fresh.

And Barbosa is right about the Wii U as a console. I've played it a little (twice for decent length stretches with Assassin's Creed and Batman) at a friend's house, and it's a fine piece of machinery. I like the dashboard, I like the controller, graphics are good and I've heard nothing in the way of technical glitches or system failures. But like I say: for me, it's all about the games, and a quality game is only a quality game if it's on store shelves.

It is fresh though, the game is phenomenal. As a long time advocator against the NSMB series, the WiiU version looks great, is a challenge and is damn fun. They sell well also.

The line up has been shocking. Rayman was supposed to be a launch title and it's coming out September, Pikmin 3 the same and that's coming out August. Apparently there was four months between a game getting released from Jan - April. Shocking.

Zombi U, Nintendoland, NSMBU and Sonic racing (which I only bought because I got it for £8) can't sustain me.

Fortunately the schedules better than it seems:
June: Luigi/Wario
August: Pikmin
September: Rayman
October: Wind Waker
November: Donkey Kong
December: Mario

Plus I still need to play Lego City stories.

They do need to pull the finger out their arses though.

I've got the one for DS and played the one for Wii at my brother's place many times before he sold his console and games. If the new one is something different then that's cool, I'll have to give it a shot. It doesn't look all that different, though.

Doesn't play too different just a better mix of levels plus visually it's better than I expected.

I'm pissed off that last year Nintendo said they'd bridge the gap to the hardcore and they've done fuck all towards it.

I enjoy it but I paid £8 for it so that may change my opinion a lot. Currently the game in my WiiU.

I got it because HMV made a cock up with some pricing. Next cheapest I've seen is £20

I know I am late to the party. But as a true XBOX fanboy, I feel as though I should care more that I am going to buy a PS4 instead of an XBOX One.

Is Sonic Racing any good on the Wii U?

My favourite kart racer of all-time. I own it on PS3 and PC, but the Wii U version is supposedly the definitive version.

I thought I remembered someone saying this recently during the conversation about Diddy Kong Racing.

It would need to go some way to beat DKR but if I can get it at a reasonable price, I will give it a go.
