Gamers unite -HQ

Been having a good laugh at the idiots buying up some of the myriad Wii U games appearing on ebay. Clearly, not only do people buying gifts not know the difference between the Wii and the Wii U, other people do not shop around or completely carried away with the bidding process.

Like a fortnight ago when second-hand copies of Batman: Arkham City were going for £35 when to buy it new from Amazon was £24. Similar story with Epic Mickey 2 today. Copies of it going for £35 plus P+P when it is £31 delivered from Amazon. Madness.

Managed to get a copy of ZombiU for £22.50 - thank you play.com for bringing the price down on Amazon so I could use my £10 gift token. Also, as I have not bought anything from them in a while, zavvi have given me a 10% off voucher that lasts until the end of the month. The only other games I would like are Fifa 13 and SMBU so if they drop in price (which Wii U games seem to do at random junctures) I might go for it.

Onto the actual Wii U. Batman is spectacularly good. The gameplay with the Gamepad is excellent and the graphics are pretty good too. NintendoLand is also a lot of fun.

I'm toying with the idea of buying The Walking Dead for PSN. It's been getting a lot of hype from a lot of different people for some time now.

They could go fire/dark and make it the Pokemon that Ninetails was always supposed to be, but if I were a betting man I'd go with pure fire. If I was going to go really out there I'd suggest fire/ground, given that it's based off a kind of small desert fox.

If anything is co-opting the fighting type, I have a hunch that the grass...thing might be the one given it's very humanoid structure. It'd be novel to have Grass/Fighting, Fire/Psychic and Water/Dark (don't ask me to explain away that one) as a starter trio - double type triangle.

Hurrah for rampant and unjustified speculation.

That would be pretty sweet. Didn't they do something similar in Gen. 4 with all 3 starters getting a second type that messed with the type advantages?

Yeah, Torterra (grass/ground), Empoleon (water/steel) and Infernape (fire/fighting). Wasn't quite the smartest combination though.

Yeah, that's not the best, but I'm glad they tried something different. Fire/Water/Grass makes the most sense, especially since they are trying to reach a new generation of players, but there are ways to make it fresh rather than trotting out the same thing every time. They really need to up the usability of the grass starter this time. I haven't used one since Bulbasaur.

With its dream world ability, Serperior is one of the most usable (although woefully dull) starters made. The problem is not that the grass starters are bad, its that grass is an intrinsically bad offensive type.

It's not exactly a stellar defensive type either.

Bad on paper, in practice I don't think it's horrible, since weaknesses to poison, bug and flying are of questionable relevancy.

Wind Waker HD remake announced for WiiU.
And a new Zelda is in the ridiculously early stages of development.

AND Super Smash Bros will be shown at E3.

AND a new 3D Mario game will be PLAYABLE at E3.

AND a new Mario Kart game will be PLAYABLE at E3.

Nintendo in terms of new games might have won E3 already before it's started.

Oh, and Take 2 is supposedly buying the WWE rights! Kickass, 2K Games is awesome, and so is Rockstar. Granted the shorter development time would make me less excited for WWE 2K14, but WWE 2K15 would be fucking amazing.

Got my copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening ordered today, the game looks fantastic and i can't wait to play it. My 3DS has been severely lacking in RPG's so this should cover me for awhile.

Aside from a small cadre of Star Wars books, the only media I purchased in my latest trip to the US was Assassin's Creed I + II for $10.

Thought that was a decent deal, especially when PC games are usually so disastrously overpriced in America

They charge console prices for PC games when they first come out. Even Guild Wars 2 stayed at $60 and still is today. I got lucky and found a direct download for it for $48 which is a decent deal. I don't blame them for keeping it at $60, with no monthly fees they gotta make their money somehow.

Otherwise Steam is the place to go for PC Game sales. You don't get the physical media but I don't mind using up bandwidth to redownload games if I have to.

I paid £18 (less than $30) for Skyrim a month after it was released and yet it is still $60 over a year later.

Nearly a year and a half, though if it's still at that price it must be selling well this much later.

It was not the only PC game at such an extortionate (at least to this UK gamer) price.

$60 is too expensive even for a new PC game.

$60 is too expensive for any game in general.

Just be grateful you don't live in Australia. I've heard upwards of $100-120 for games. Ridiculous. Remember when you could go to Funcoland with $10 and buy pretty much whatever you wanted? I miss the 90's...

To be fair, the technology and sophistication has gotten about 10,000 times better, but $60 is still a huge chunk of my income. Even if I was making twice as much as I am right now, it'd be a lot. There's a reason I barely ever buy a new game, and stick to things like League of Legends. Last game I bought was Halo 4. Probably will remain as such until I get DLC for Skyrim. It's just not worth it.

Games were more expensive in the 90s.

So the new PS4 will be announced on the 20th February.
The new xBox will be called Infinity.

I hope Sony go for the Playstation Beyond just so this generation is "U, Infinity and Beyond".
