Wii U. Get.
ACI bored me really.
I need to get back on MGS4. I bought it when I got my PS3 Black Friday 2011 and have played it about 5 times. Great game and I love the whole series, but I just don't play it a lot.Metal Gear Solid is quickly becoming one of my favorite series' of all time. Metal Gear Solid 4 blew me away and I've just started on MGS2 and it's blisteringly hard but brilliantly fun and interesting.
Well yeah, that's why I got it.

MGS2 was amazing. I still need to play MGS1 through. I never had a PS1 and missed out on the Gamecube version, so I never beat it. Don't like MGS3 as much on PS2 (although I think it was better on 3DS). I gotta check out how I can play MGS1 on a modern system (was it released on PSN or as a bundle on PS3?)
Thanks for the info. Forgot about the HD Collection. I remember being really excited when they announced it, then disappointed in the lack of MGS1. I mean really, they couldn't put 1 in there instead of Peace Walker? MGS 1, 2, and 3 sounds better then 2, 3, and Peace Walker. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a bundle on PSN, XBL, and physical disc that includes HD updates of MGS 2, 3, and the PSP-only game Peace Walker. Peace Walker is fun but it's really obviously a PSP port as evidenced by small areas and short missions. Fun to do co-op and online play, though. Really hoping that eventually we get a full co-op MGS game with proper mechanics and co-op story. All three are available for individual download as well, I believe.
MGS1 is available as a PS1 classic.

I am going to have to pick up the PS1 Classic eventually, although I may be better off waiting for an HD re-release, since the PS1 Classics aren't HD Graphics.
Honestly, Peace Walker is worth it because most people didn't play it, and the online capabilities are great. It also looks really good upscaled, and even though it's structured like a PSP game it's still fun to get three other guys and storm a tank, or to team with your friend and clear a mission together. The controls are also WAY better than they were on PSP, since they're MGS4-esque.Thanks for the info. Forgot about the HD Collection. Eternal Darkness would work so fucking well on the WiiU.
I didn't even realize they made that. Good reason they didn't make it just 1, 2, and 3 then.http://us.playstation.com/games/metal-gear-solid-the-essential-collection-ps2.html
You can probably find a used copy of that for much cheaper
It does sound good, although I very rarely play multiplayer (as in I played one multiplayer PS3 game since I had my system in November 2011).Honestly, Peace Walker is worth it because most people didn't play it, and the online capabilities are great. I'm pretty sure they're going to make an MGS HD at some point. There's too much money in it not to. Plus, as said before, there is the Gamecube remake which looks great. And in general, PS1 Classics look perfectly fine.
I don't really remember how good the GCN game was visually. Of course now I'd probably just go with the PS1 Classic, or wait til HD since I use my playstation more and the Gamecube game will be useless once I get my WiiU soon (and as such sell my Wii).
I have a couple PS1 Classics (CastleVania: Symphony of the Night and something else), and from what I remember they look exactly like the PS1 game. That's good and all, but being that MGS1 came out 15 years old this October it would look outdated and needs an overhaul. Besides, when done right overhauls actually help the gameplay (see Ocarina of Time 3D).
Speaking of that, I'd love to see Konami put out a 15th anniversary edition or something.
I didn't like 3 (I remember taking way to long changing the camouflage way too often), and am not very far into 4 (and haven't played it in forever). To be honest, I'd take 3 and 4 over 1 any day of the week. 2's hit-and-miss for me at the moment, since I like the style but it's getting a bit repetitive since I'm not great at the stealth parts and the maps are so small it's hard to hide once detected. Maybe when I beat Fatman it'll change, since I've enjoyed what I've played so far.
I don't remember 2 all that well, but I have long been a fan of the stealth gameplay, and remember loving the game.
