What the fuck are you doing to your consoles? I've had every PS console & I don't think a single one has "shit itself", all of them still work perfectly fine.

I hope I don't regret saying this, but...

Not one of my consoles has ever shit itself.

Well, once my PS2 broke, but that was because my dog ran into the controller chord and it slammed to the floor.

I've had my XBox 360 since 2009, and it's still kicking. I use it maybe once a week, but it gets the job done.

I only had my PS3 for three or four years, but again, no problems. And I bought it used as well.

I haven't had my PS4 for that long I suppose (I think I got it around my birthday in 2014), but again, no problems thus far.

I just finished Virtues Last Reward (sequel to 999 which I think Doc liked) and holy crap that's a genius story. Does make me genuinely scared of the fact I finished it just before the new one came out without knowing a new one existed until halfway through my playthrough.

999 is one of my top ten games of all time. I think bits of VLR are just as good, but as a cohesive package the first one holds a special place in my heart. Hoping the one that caps off the trilogy manages to blow me away. I've been going in almost totally blind and I can't wait.

Yeah I love that series and only just found out about the latest one yesterday.

I forgot to tell you! I'm so pissed though, my copy of Zero Time Dilemma's not here til the third thanks to Amazon messing up. I want to play it now!

Sony has one last chance. Got another PS4.

PS3 shit itself way back which sent me to the 360 and now my first PS4 has shat itself.

If this thing breaks again this company can go fuck itself.

Firstly QFT. Secondly the only console I've ever had that's died on my was my Playstation One and that was because some cunt stole it and took the laser eye out (to replace the one in his chipped playstation) before I could get it back from him.

I really liked the style of 999 and the story was pretty cool but I struggled to get into the actual game side of it. I think for much the same reasons I struggle with the entirety of the Metal Gear Solid series because there's just endless cutscenes...

Honestly, with Zero Escape and MGS, it's easier if you think about them as hybrids. 999 is a novel with adventure game bits. MGS games are hybrid movie/games. The cutscenes are all part of the experience. They're not traditional games so you need a different mindset to play them but they're so worth it.

I mean, really, 999/VLR's novel bits are even called that. They're as much part of the game as the locked room puzzles.

Oh yeah I realize that but I feel like games as a storytelling device have grown so much in recent years that 999 and MGS feel like they're living in the past. I mean when you look at games such as The Last Of Us or Until Dawn or Limbo they tell complex stories with layered narratives and shock twists and turns whilst still focusing on gameplay over endless dialogue.

I'mm not saying they're bad necessarily but they're not for me. That being said I got the 999 app which is just the story and enjoyed it immensely. I'd imagine because it's not pretending despite it's protestations to be something is isn't.

No game in existence has worked a gameplay element that is solely for convenience into the plot in such a good way. Are the cutscenes in 999 unskippable or something? In VLR it's just standard visual novel text with character on screen stuff that you can get through by pressing the A button. Even the new one lets you skip cutscenes. Speaking of which - I've played about 10 minutes of Zero Time Dilemma and it's already blown my mind.

I had a weird thing with my Xbox 360. At one point, I got the RROD, then a month later, just as I was about to ship it off for repair, I decided to test it one more time, and it worked.

999 and VLR play basically exactly the same, but 999 doesn't have the Flow system. After you beat the game once you can fast forward through any unread text easily.

The flow system in VLR blew my mind. Pretty intrigued on how 999 handles that part of it, but I've already unwrapped Zero Time Dilemma (have you started it yet?) and I don't think it's physically possible to go back at this point. Especially since I 100%'d VLR and read all the documents which did get me up to speed on everything.

Noticed Gamestop is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on pre-owned games this weekend, so I picked up Frycry: Primal, Shovel Knight, & Street Fighter V (which I mostly bought because it's played on UUDD so much).

It is, I wish they had it for Wii U so I could use the Amiibo with it, but they only had it for PS4, also it was my freebie. I'll probably start on Farcry: Primal later today.

So, anyone else been playing No Man's Sky? Kinda liking it, but anyone who buys it thinking it's a multiplayer game where you get to trade with other players and sex beautiful alien females is going to be disappointed.

Anyone that's looked up the game should know it's a pretty, universal Minecraft/Terraria and little more. That's not a bad thing. But if it's not your thing, you shouldn't buy it. I'm on the fence. Those games usually aren't as fun on consoles.

This is why I'm giving it a wide berth - I think I'd just find it boring or, worse, frustrating.

They can be if you have someone to play with.

...

I pondered buying No Man's Sky, but decided it would be best to wait to see what the overall reception was. Besides, I have Overwatch to keep me occupied.

Well I'm not saying they're not fun on consoles. But more fun still on the PC. Multiplayer or not. Not a masterrace thing. Crafting games just control much less tediously with a mouse and keyboard because of the mechanics of those games being tedious themselves. Repetition gets old really fast if it's hard to do.

Arkham Knight is freakin amazing. Very first game I played on PS4 and it is worth every second spent playing it. Also, the free skins and stuff you can download are awesome too.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I finished Zero Time Dilemma like a few days after it came out. Just as brilliant as the first two if not more so in some regards. The series as a whole is deserving of its spot in my top ten favorite games of all time list. Fantastic trilogy and a brilliant conclusion.
