Am I the only one not super interested in Fallout 4?

I'm not a fan of Bethesda's "Let's just dump a player in a world" attitude. That and Fallout 3 fucked me with a game breaking bug which I'm still salty over.

I am interested in Fallout 4, but I have such a massive fucking back log of games to play that I can wait it out for a price drop, and the fuck ton of patches that will inevitable have to be done.

In the mean time I was able to pick up GTA V and Resident Evil 6 for my PS3 for $10 from my coworker. He just wanted to get rid of some games and he had them posted up on a Classifieds page for so long he said best offer. I flipped him a ten for the two.

So yes, I say I have a massive backlog, and I go and buy two more games. Such is life.

It's a good problem to have I guess. Having so many games to play but not being able to because - reasons.

You could make that time pass faster if you were playing Fallout 4 while waiting.

I'm excited for Battlefront too, but Fallout 4 is pretty fucking awesome.

I've heard a lot of Fallout fans shitting on the new one so far honestly because it ditches a bunch of stuff from the last games that were popular like skills. Not sold on it, though that commercial with Dion's "The Wanderer" playing is badass.

Lately I've just been playing the fuck out of my SNES. Super Mario World all day son.

Just internet people resisting change, as always.

Fallout 4 blows New Vegas and 3 out of the water in my opinion. Doing away with skills was a great idea as it makes the SPECIAL system more important and forces you to really commit to a certain style. In 3 and New Vegas you could give your character the SPECIAL points to give your character the HP, AP, and carrying capacity stats you want, and then just dump your skill points into skills unassociated with the SPECIAL stats. To provide an example, you could give your character 1 charisma point when making your character, but you can pour all your level up points into speech and barter, effectively making your character the most charming man or woman in the Mojave. In Fallout 4, if you put 1 point in charisma, chances are you're going to fail just about every speech check you hit.

You want to be a melee tank? Put your SPECIAL points into Strength and Endurance. Want to be a mad scientist shooting lasers from hand crafted weaponry? Put your points in Intelligence and Agility. Want to be a smooth talking sniper? Put your points in Perception and Charisma.

The crafting system is also far superior to its predecessors. First of all, there are no useless items in Fallout 4. In New Vegas and 3 there was tons of junk that served absolutely no purpose whatsoever. In Fallout 4, things like toy cars or abraxo cleaner or deathclaw hands can be scrapped for materials used to create something new. And there are no shortage of new things to create. Even if you're not into the stronghold aspect of the game (I'm not big on it myself), you can use those supplies to make modifications for your guns that can be major game changers. They also revamped the armor system so that each appendage is independent. On your left arm you can have heavy armor that boosts your defense, on your right arm you can have light armor that increases your carrying weight, on your chest you can have something that protects you from energy weapons, etc.

Above all else, they did a great job creating a world that's fun to explore, and that's what Bethesda does best. Nearly every dungeon has its own story and set of circumstances that makes each dungeon feel unique.

There are some elements of the game that I really hate, like the limitation and lack of clarity concerning dialogue, and the UI interface, particularly for settlements. But for every bad thing that the game has, it throws two more great things at you, like the improved gunplay, the superior crafting system, the higher focus on SPECIAL (let's be honest, everyone paid more attention to their skills in other games) and the dynamic weather conditions.

I played the original for awhile when I wanted to get into the franchise (and I'm a dweeb who has to play a series in order usually, and thus typically wind up playing the first game for awhile and then never moving on to the other games, the ones I REALLY wanted to play) and I enjoyed it, though I like 90s PC games already.

Speaking of Bethesda, did anyone play Elder Scrolls Online? Was it any good?

I played like an hour of it if that counts, probably not enough to warrant an opinion of it other than it looks like Skyrim with the first person aspect but a clear MMO setup regardless.

My brother in law was into it quite a bit for awhile there. If I had more time for an MMO I would probably give it a proper run through.

If somebody's only exposure to me was me playing a competitive multiplayer game - like, say, Halo - they'd think I was a raving psychopath.

I did play it. It's okay, nothing special. For me the only real selling point on that game is the ability to explore all of Tamriel, and even then it gets fairly repetitive after a while.

yup bout the same for me with console commands. Joined the Brotherhood and did it that way....

Seems to me the Brotherhood is the "evil" ending

I did the Railroad, and they definitely seem to be the good guys. A little disappointed that the Minutemen don't seem to have a role to play, as I would have liked to stick with them.

I never liked the Brotherhood of Steel, they always seemed like pompous bullies to me. I'm sure the Institute would have been just as evil, though.
