Future Plans For Matt & Jeff Hardy Revealed

Right now the plan is to move the Hardys back to singles. Their run as a tag team was only supposed to be a one-time deal; however since they went over so well WWE decided to give them a few more matches. At one point they almost decided not to have them challenge Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch at last night’s Vengeance pay-per-view.

The working idea backstage is to have Matt Hardy get a big singles push on SmackDown as a babyface who loses all the time but stays over. They then want Jeff to develop a prankster type personality backstage which could be used to integrate him into the Jackass angle planned for SummerSlam.

So it looks like Matt is getting a push as a loser (kind of paradoxical but anyway) and Jeff is going to turn into a prankster.

Doesn't bother me, as long as the Hardys are on TV, as their popular, they can give them shitty gimmicks. Matt is a perennial mid-carder but the fan response makes me think he deserves a main event push vs. Edge this summer. But this gimmick sounds interesting at least if they do it right. Again, doesn't bother me, but between the two Hardys, I prefer Matt in the ring, so I would rather him get pushed harder.

As for Jeff, the prankster role seems to work for him and with the Jackass crew coming in it works well, and he might actually pull a half decent match out of them, depending on who else is involved. Doesn't bother me again, as long as it doesn't hurt him inside the ring.

Thoughs?

well as long as they do something with matt thats all i care about. i would love to see a number 1 condership tournament for the title and for matt to win it. i mean you would not see that coming and the fans would lap it up.
as for jeff, well i like the sound of this gimmick which maybe seeing how it goes could make him heel. would be interesting as again he needs a gimmick to get him going aswell as a good push

Hmm a push to be a loser does not make too much sense to me, but as far as Jeff's new role goes. I can definatly see him playing that role perfectly. I've always seen Jeff as a guy who would fit right in with the Jackass crew. I'm just hoping that we'll still see him in some matches and not just doing pranks backstage

Here's what upsets me. Matt and Jeff have sacrificed so much, redefined both high-flying and tag-team wrestling, and this is what they get. But some no-name bodybuilder like Daniel Rodimer is set to get some big push out of the gate!?

The first thing I thought when I heard "big push losing matches but remaining over" was Mikey Whipwreck. MHV1 deserves better than that. He could have a natural World Title feud with Edge, little build up even needed, and be a legit main eventer.

Jeff as a prankster has to be done right. If it is done the way Eddie Guerrero's character was, I am all for it. If it leads to Jeff forming a fun-loving six man team with Cryme Tyme, it's cool. As long as they don't change the in-ring product and stick with Jeff as a top star.

Funny thing Irish, I was just thinking about the whole Mikey Whipreck thing as I read the future of Matt on Wrestlezone. I think this could be good, again if done right, and Jeff as a prankster...hmm, probably not a far stretch, he has said many times how he is as random as they come, and this could fit his natural personality nicely

Anything that can spice up the Hardyz is fine with me.

When it comes to ladder matches they'r fine,
but watching them in regular tage matches or singles w/managers are boring as crap now.

They don't do all that much anymore,
it gets repetative.

A prankster gimmick?
I wonder where they'd go with this?

this is cause they cant push Matt becasue Matt vs Edge has been done to death, and I dont think this is the right time to try and get a big draw out of that.

Jeff looks burned out alreadly again, so maybe this new gimmick will give him some more time off so he dosent walk out again
