Do you seriously believe that the Hardys getting drunk and dicking about with tasers for The Hardy Show was a work? That it wasn't just something they thought would be fucking funny [and kinda was, I guess], but it just so happens that a great many people actually frown upon that behaviour from two thirty-something wastrels, one of whom takes far too many drugs and has felony charges looming?
If this were kayfabe and they were working an angle, what the hell is the angle supposed to be?
Who would benefit from this when only one of the three people involved currently wrestles?
That's the thing these days man, social networking sites and YouTube gives people like Matt Hardy a public forum to keep rattling the fan's cages. I'm not saying they're not being legit silly and crazy in the video but just the same, considering the nature of their vocation that being wrestlers/sports entertainers I myself challenge the line that exists with fantasy and reality. Even though only one active in wrestling is Matt at this moment, this little stunt keeps his brother on the minds of those perusing the net. Granted it's not the same like watching these guys on television but like another poster said to me on another thread and it made sense to think about it like this...who's to really say kayfabe ends when the TV is turned off. I think everything in wrestling has to be taken with a grain of salt, even in the internet era where people are supposedly always "shooting" when they're talking on the internet or what not.
I'm not saying I support what Matt and Jeff are doing and I am not saying I'm even a fan, but I'm at this point in my life as a wrestling fan where I miss certain elements of what used to be, these days I think I am being given more of a Jersey Shore or Kardashians-esque touch to the product and I think that takes away from it somewhat.
So basically I am not outright assuming their stunts are works, but I'm not going to believe everything I see or read about either when it comes to the internet. That's just how I see it, boss.
If you can give me decent answers to those two questions I might reconsider my position on your pretty damn wild theory.
It's not so much a theory as it is a suspicion, I mean to be honest the internet is full of tabloid like information, there's just no way I can buy into everything I outright hear and assume it's the truth man. Again we have to think about what entertainment is in all its forms, whether we are talking about movies, television, the media and yes even professional wrestling. The "truth" is not as concrete a concept as some people want to believe.
