I swear my boss is bipolar. He'll tell me to do something and I do or have my guys do exactly what he said he wanted done and then he'll call me up on the phone and ask why I'm doing exactly what it was he asked me to do. Then say something like, "Remember, I told you not to worry about it," or, "Did you forget when I said I changed my mind?" I say, "No because you never told me not to worry about it or that you changed your mind. I'm not a fucking mind reader!!!"
We just had a big scuffle because my crew installed some carpet at a trade show and the carpet was just hideous looking. It was dirty as all hell and everything. Well I wasn't there to check up on it because he had me doing something else. So, naturally, when the customer called to complain, he threw it all on me saying that I should've been there to check it and make sure it was good and blah blah blah. I told him that first off, you had me doing something else somewhere else and second, I asked my guys how it looked and they said that it was fine. If I can't take grown ass people at their word sometimes then maybe we need a new crew. That's exactly what I did too, I fired the three people that put that carpet down because A: They lied to me B: They were to lazy to clean the carpet before they left, they just wanted to get done for the day and C: They lied to me!!!!!!
My boss does take me out to dinner all the time though and he let's me use a company vehicle. Just sometimes he sends me up the fucking wall. That's every boss I'd imagine though.
