I second the no bitching rule. We've worked very hard trying to set this up.

A brief explanation of the selection process:

Max of one movie per series per decade. This means one Godfather, and one Star Wars for the 70s, 80s, and 2000s. We didn't want this to turn into LOTR vs. Star Wars in a war of attrition. Also, no films from this calender year. TDK is the hottest movie in the world right now and the impression that people have from it would cloud people's judgement. We tried to balance comedy, drama, action, horror etc. out as evenly as possible, so there will be some in there that make you scratch your head. If we put in every movie we had brought up, this tournament would go on until January.

I originally wanted to do 64 movies per decade. Then I realized I needed time for meals.

These matches were made purely through the ratings system we used. It's a pure coincidence that first round we are having Star Wars vs. Star Trek.

NorCal, TMNT almost made it in. But in the end, it's just not that good. I re-watched it the other day, and for the life of me, I can't understand why I liked it when I was a kid.

300 is extremely popular, made a buttload of money, and used some pretty innovative styles and methods of filmmaking.

And The Blair Witch Project is one scary movie.
