This is a first round matchup in the Philadelphia Subregion. The ring and arena are universal throughout the first round and the organization is not a factor. There is a 20 minute time limit. Vote using any criteria you like. Most votes in the poll at the end of the time period wins. In the case of a tie we will go off of the number of written votes. In the case of a second tie, both are eliminated.

Very exciting first round match between to extremely technical and well rounded wrestlers. The location will not hurt or benefit either man since they both spent some time in the Philadelphia area. Really this match boils down to who makes less mistakes and I believe that to be Eddie Guerrero. Eddie was an incredible ring general who could control anyone regardless of size.

Eddie Guerrero for the win.

Very intriguing first round match, would have loved to see this actual match. Lynn is a technical master but Guerrero was the master in his time. I think the edge would go to Guerrero in this one. Throw in some lies, cheating, and stealing for old times sake.

Jerry Lynn is a very tough and accomplished indy wrestler who has stints in the major promotions but never did anything of value.

Eddie, on the other hand, is legendary. He deserved all of his accolades and uses every tactic in the book to ensure his victories.

I'm gonna have to go with Eddie even though i really like Jerry Lynn but i feel that Eddie is the better wrestler and he Lies, Cheats, and Steals so that will give another advantage this match ends with Jerry Lynn getting the Frog Splash.

This is a great first round matchup as both are two very good wrestlers. Lynn is very technical, and Eddy can be technical and can also be very crafty. Eddie will do whatever it takes to win, and I see it an a great match, Eddie gets a rollup and grabs the tights to advance.

I'd be willing to wait a while before casting my vote. Lynn was a highlight of the late ECW but Eddie had ten years as a highlight in WCW and WWE, including a great run in Los Guerreros and an underrated run on the top.

I'm undecided at the moment, leaning to Eddie.

Based on the criteria of whom I would much rather see winning a match that both of them were competing in, I am going with Eddie Guerrero.

As WWE Champion, Eddie was one of the best competitors the WWE had. He was a great in-ring technician and was great to watch. He knew how to excite a crowd and the fans were always behind him. I was always a fan of Eddie since his days in WCW and I feel that having him take the WWE Championship was probably the highlight of his career and was probably well worth it. Having him feud with JBL over the Championship produced one some of the best promos I have seen him do and the same is true of the feud with Rey Mysterio.

I haven't seen too much of Jerry Lynn and I feel that I should have probably just abstained. However, from what I have seen, Lynn was a fine wrestler and should hold up well.

Guerrero will win this but it might be because of his death.

It would be a great match, sure. But you cannot vote for Jerry Lynn here. He's a small time guy, always has been. Meanwhile Eddie Guerrero was WWE champion in Madison Square Garden on the 20th Wrestlemania. These guys don't even compare.

Eddie Gurrero takes it. It'd be a good 15 minutes though. Assuming it lasted that long.

Jerry Lynn, while talented, is just bland indy rubbish to me. Eddie Guerrero, on the other hand, is a fantastic wrestler who found a great connection with the audience in two major companies in the United States, helped build the foundation for a major demo on the SmackDown brand, and looked to be a major part of WWE's future. His best days were ahead of him, in my opinion. Sure, he was old. But he was working smart towards the end and was at the top of his game.



Call me when Jerry Lynn cuts a promo like that.

Eddie Guerrero no doubt, Eddie is probably one of the most all around great wrestlers this tournament has to cough up if you ask me, great on the microphone (to a certain degree, he certainly was entertaining to say the least) entertaining in the ring, able to put on a great technical match, all around one of the greatest ever if you ask me.
And what hasn't Eddie really done? he's done pretty much anything there is to do in the wrestling business when you look in the direction of both holding world titles, tag team titles, cruiserweight titles, United States and Intercontinental championship's, he's so damn decorated it's hard to let Eddie loose to Jerry Lynn who barely if you ask me, has anything more than a ECW world championship to brag about.

I think Eddie Guerrero was a decent wrestler but I felt he always had trouble with technical wrestlers and wrestlers whose strengths are their speed. I would venture to say that he won less than 50% of his matches while in the WWE. If you want to say that his peak was when he won the championship, lets go in-depth.

He beat Angle by cheating and that's true but he never used it much to his advantage especially when it benefitted him the most. He got himself disqualified against JBL at Judgment Day and finally lost to him at the Great American Bash. Angle made him tap out at Summerslam. He lost to Mysterio five or six times in 2005 before beating him in a Steel Cage match. Benoit also made Guerrero tap out two or three years prior to that as well. Lynn has worked great against Styles and RVD whom I consider to be better wrestlers than Guerrero and he will use his technical prowess and his speed just enough to defeat Guerrero in a match that could go almost thirty minutes.

Who cares if Eddie is dead here? When I think "WCW Cruiserweights," I think of Eddie first and foremost...even before Rey. Usually he was warming up the crowd with Rey, but the balance that Eddie showed between high-flying and traditional mat moves was phenomenal.

Add on to this that Eddie beat Brock Freaking Lesnar to become WWE champ and beat Kurt Freaking Angle in a WWE Title match at Wrestlemania.

Jerry Lynn? He did something or other in ECW after Taz and Raven had moved on. Um...he was Light Heavyweight champ....and I guess he's a pretty good trainer?

Ediis Guerrero vs. jerry Lynn is an interesting contest but there can only be one winner and that has to be Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero can wrestle and can fly. he has technical knowlege and can take Lynn out that way. Both have routes in ECW and subsequently there is no advantage to either. Guerrero is a former WWE Champion and a great wrestler, Lynn's good, but he isn't that good.

This is two guys who were around at the same time, and one of them made his way up through the wrestling world, and the other one didn't. Would this be a good match? Possibly, it would certainly be an overrated one, but what I would say is that the fundamentals here are that Eddie Guerrero rarely had trouble with smaller guys not called Rey Mysterio. Eddie would win a match up between these two at any point in either of their respective careers.

This right here is a very tough match. Jerry Lynn was great in the ring, But Eddie was better than Jerry Lynn. Eddie was not the best technical wrestler, but he always used to make any possible. He was great in the mic and he also had a lot of charisma. There for Eddie "Latino Heat" Guerrero gets my vote in this match.

Eddie wins here, Lynn might have torn the house down in ECW with RVD but Eddie beat Brock Lesnar for the WWE title. Lesnar>RVD. Eddie wins a hard fought match but hits the Five Star to end it.

Even with all the personal problems Guerrero had, WWE still went with him. A guy I watched and loved back in the WCW era of cruiserweight greatness, to a guy I loved even when he feuded with Chyna, I have to go with Eddie here. I never connected with Lynn, he just seemed to trash for me.

Well, let's see here; we have two great wrestlers. One of these men has been world champion in the largest promotion in the world, and is overall a more entertaining name.

The other, while a good wrestler, manages to only become champion in third tier promotions, where he barely sells out high school stadiums.

Look, I like Jerry, but his biggest contribution to the sport either came while in the dying days of ECW, or as Mr. JL in WCW. Either way, it doesn't look good for the man who only meant something when wrestling Rob Van Dam. He had great athleticism, but Eddie Guerrero absolutely surpasses him in that sphere. Eddie's a better wrestler, a better promo cutter, and an overall more entertaining character. Mr. JL, however, probably shouldn't be in this tournament, aside from being some mods selection. I'm not really sure who, but at least it's a better pick than The Berzerker.

My vote goes to Eddie, but I will promptly get off the Eddie train after this match, for something alluded to earlier by Thunder.

No, actually, Thunder, he will derserve this win, but will not deserve the next one. Let's not forget the man was an experimental champion, at best. He was brought up to be champion during a time when Smackdown had no credible face to be champion on a consistent basis. He was good, but was always a mid carder, except for this period in his career. Let's not confuse things here: He was good, but he certainly doesn't to go over in the next round.

And voting for a guy that lost to Justin Credible is that much better? Or how about a guy that got beat on a consistent basis by Steve Corino? Or better yet, LJL, how about the same man that fucking lost to Chris Sabin?

I don't care what you say, all of the wrestlers you just mentioned are totally better than any of the guys I mentioned. Sure, Eddie lost a hell of a lot. It's why he goes down in the next round to Harley Race, if this forum has any brains. But Jerry Lynn has lost even more, to far more inferior competition. Eddie's win over Angle trumps anything Mr. JL has ever done in his career. Yes, it even beats almost getting burnt by a fireball from the sixty year old Sheik

eddies will go over jerry in a great technical battle that might last 30 plus minutes eddie held every type of championship from low mid card to high mid card to main event to tag team while lynn is just a guy who put on great matches in losing efforts

Eddie should win this match. There is no doubt how good Lynn is, but he was never a star like Guerrero in the major promotions. Sure Eddie probably got overrated after his death, but what wrestler doesn't? Eddie is a still a wrestling great and he can match up with any wrestler that faces him in the ring. Look, I love both Eddie Guerrero and Jerry Lynn equally, so it would be impossible for me to determine who was the better wrestler, and whose body of work surpassed the other. So, this is going to be one of the very rare matches that I look at from strictly a kayfabe point of view.

First of all, let me say that this would be an AWESOME match, and easily top 3 in the first round of this tournament. I really, really wish we could have gotten the opportunity to see these two wrestle before Eddie's death.

Anyway, Eddie was a crafty motherfucker and found ways to win matches. Throughout his career he defeated the likes of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, among many other greats.

Jerry Lynn, on the other hand, was simply a tough motherfucker. It took everything plus the kitchen sink to put this dude away. His matches with Rob Van Dam are legendary in my book, and those are all the proof you need to see to know just how tough Lynn uss.

You put these two in the same ring against one another, you are guaranteed for a back-and-forth contest, with COUNTLESS near falls and a ton of excitement. At the end of the day, however, I see Jerry Lynn somehow pulling off the upset, like he has done so many times throughout his great career. The guy is just so hard to put away, and he brings EVERYTHING he has to every single match. I really believe Eddie would underestimate Lynn and get caught off guard at his toughness and his technical and high flying prowess. If this were a best of 7 series, I would give it to Eddie, hands down. But in a one-on-one, first time ever match between the two, Lynn shocks the World and defeats Eddie Guerrero. There's no question in my mind about that.

Both these guys are incredible in terms of pure wrestling. They've both held world titles in their respective companies (WWE and ROH), and have wrestled in classic matches all over. The thing is, Eddie Guerrero was better in more than just wrestling. His promos and his storytelling in the ring were second to none. He could hold the crowd in the palm of his hand, regardless of which side he was on. If he was a face, he could make the crowd love everything he did, even if it was a heelish action. And if he was a heel, he could make everyone hate him by doing the same. Sadly, Jerry Lynn can't say the same, so Eddie wins it here.
