Favorite song ever

Hyorinmaru

Sit Upon The Frozen Heavens

Obvioulsy this is subjective and not everyone has the same critewria when it comes to picking favorites so here's the top 3 things I look for.

1: It has to be my favorite song on the album. When i first bough this album when it came out I had high hopes for it after Hybrid Theory and they did not disapoint I can listen to the whole thing from first to last but I aways start with this one.

2: If it's a single it needs to have a video I can watch for hours on end without being bored. The video was acutally directed by LPs DJ Joe Hahn who got Japanese animator kazuto Nakazawa to supervise the animation. It goes from back to front so it's confusing at first but once you understand it you'll be amazed. Between Hahn and Nakazawa they made sure this is one of the best vdeos ever.

3: There has to be a good story behind the song/video and the story behinf BTH does not diapoint even a little bit.
At the beginning of the video, a man is shown lying on a car's roof. The car has been surrounded by police tape, and a crowd is beginning to gather. Police are shown investigating the reason for the fall. The video then cuts to other characters, many shown to be depressed or frustrated with their lives. The first noteworthy character is a girl who breaks a mirror, then writes "I'm nothing" onto a sheet of paper. She then picks up a shard of broken glass, clenches it in her hand, and smears her blood on the paper. Throughout the whole video, a wisp of smoke twists around the characters as their stories are played out, and Chester Bennington's face flashes around various scenes. Suddenly, the smoke flows into the mouth of the dead body, and video rewinds itself, revealing more about the characters and their stories. The dead body rockets upwards and lands on the roof of a tall building, where it is revealed that it was Chester who died. Once Chester lands on the roof, the entire band is shown playing, and finishes the song on the roof.
So lets go through the checklist. Favorite song on the album (check), Awesome music Video (check), Good story behind the song/video (check). This song has everything.

It is and will always be Oasis- Supersonic

In my opinion, this is absolute perfection. From the second I heard the guitar kick in I was hooked on this song, and have never become bored of it. It is the most played song on my itunes by far, and has been a part of loads of great memories in my life.

It was playing on the jukebox in the pub as my girlfriend turned 18 a few yeara ago, it was playing at my 21st party when I was being bounced in the air by my friends, I have been crowd surfed round nightclubs when this song is playing, everyone knows I love it and always request it for me. Hell, my university hoodie had "Supersonic 94" on the back and my bedroom at my parents used to have the word "Supersonic" painted above the head of my bed.

It was an ambition of mine to hear this played live and I was gutted the first time I went to see Oasis and for the 1st time in all their tours, it was taken off the set list. I am happy to say they did play it again on their final tour in 2009 and I was sat on my brothers shoulders going crazy when it came on, fists in the air and loving it.

Everything about this song I love. The guitaring, the drumming, the solo and Liam Gallaghers vocals have never sounded better. The fact that this is the first song Oasis ever released, and was written in the space of 30 minutes in the studio when it was decided they needed a different song to release as a single as the original one didnt sound quite right, shows just what an awesome talent Noel Gallagher is. It only ever reached number 31 in the singles charts, but people still love it today. I heard it in an indie bar last weekend (and obviously went mental!) It still sounds as fresh as it did in 1994 and there is NOTHING to compare to it in the indie charts today. Bands like King of Leon, Arctic Monkeys etc are not fit to lick the bootlaces of Oasis.

There are 2 lines in the lyrics that mean alot to me:
"You need to be yourself, you can't be noone else"

"You can have it all but how much do you want it?"

This song just gives me confidence, its saying be yourself and you can achieve anything you want to. Oasis had it right, they had the swagger, the attitude, the "fuck you I am gonna do what I want to do" and that radiates from this song. They knew they were going to dominate British music and it shows in their songs.

The video is just basic, nothing special but I love watching it. I had obviously heard the bigger Oasis hits but when I picked up their debut album "Definitely Maybe" and heard this one, it blew everything else away, and I immediately went and picked up the other albums, and made sure I was at the record score at opening time on the release date of all their later albums.

I am obsessed with the band, owning every album, single, vinyl and dvd they have released, with a canvas painting of them on my living room wall. My old room at my parents is covered in Oasis posters from floor to ceiling, and I really doubt there will ever be another band I love as much as Oasis. I am devastated when they split up, but I do think that they will play together again soon.

So, essay over. "Supersonic" is my favourite song of all time. I fucking love it

Mentioned it in another thread and i'll say it again! my favorite song of all time is The Only One You've Gotby 3 Doors Down. I actually compiled a list the other day of my top 5 favorite songs of all time at the request of one of my buddys, but the OP didn't ask for a list just the top one. So anyway,

I could literally be having the most awful, depressing day of my life and I can turn this song on and sit and vibe. It makes me forget everything bad in my life and gives me reason to carry on. Why the band never released this as a single still baffles me today, but in a way its a good thing that way it's not butchered by radio. Lines like "A crowded street can be a quiet place, when you're walking alone" and "What would you say if this was the last day of your life?" just restores my sense of hope for life in general. Pretty basic song music wise, but lyric wise it just hits home in every way imaginable.

This is difficult. I'm going to go with "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin.

Regardless of what the lead singer is actually talking about, this song to me is about facing difficult times but facing them with the hope of someone/something better. That facing whatever your facing is something that you need to do and no matter what happens in your pursuit, you will always have the memory and feelings of that person with you. No matter what happens, that will never change. And you can't do it without them.

This song can fuel me in a way that no other song can, and I love it for that.

My all time favorite song will always be...

Don't let me down- The Beatles

The song was written when John Lennon first started dating Yoko and it was after johns failed married and he was pretty much just begging yoko not to let him down. A really simple song but the emotion he sings with gives me goosebumbs still to this day after I first heard it when I was a child and my parents would play there beatles records. I didn't like alot of there songs till I got older but I always loved don't let me down.

Another reason it's one of my favorite songs is because I had just got out of I relationship of a couple of years and when I started dating my fiancé I asked her one day somewhat jokingly to not let me down and she said "oh that's my favorite beatles song!" and I pretty much new after that she was the one.

Favorite Classical Song: tie between Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead and Ravel's Bolero. I came across both these songs in films (La Captive and some porn starring Lisa De Leeuw, respectively). While Bolero is just all kinds of awesome, I think part of my love for Rachmaninoff's composition comes from the fact that it was so perfectly used in La Captive. Dark, foreboding, and lugubrious are the words that come to my mind whenever I hear Isle of the Dead:

Favorite Rap Song: Snoop Doggy Dogg's It Ain't No Fun. I've always been a fan of the extremely offensive rap, and this one's just as bad as anything you'd hear off of a 2 Live Crew album (actually, the whole Doggystyle album owned, but this is the best song from it):

Favorite Rock Song: AC/DC's Hell's Bells. No other song in the world gets me as pumped up as this one. The opening guitar riff combined with the tolling of the bell and the gradual introduction of the drums...fucking perfection:

Favorite Electronic/Dance/House Song: Daft Punk's Make Love. So haunting and beautiful. If lives had soundtracks, this song would be perfect for so many moments: making love with your soulmate, working late at night all by yourself, driving in the rain in the midst of one of life's many crises...I have never heard a song encompass so many moods and emotions:

Brown Shoes Don't Make It - Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - It's really hard to pick a favorite song ever, as I love so many. However, "Brown Shoes" is a masterpiece. It has everything I love about the early Mothers - it's equal parts inventive, offensive, and entertaining, covering multiple music genres in only seven minutes. Zappa eventually became known for songs about anal sex and transvestites, but his early stuff is the shit and influenced a whole mess of experimental rock bands in the 1970s.

I knew this was here and seeing how my favorite song has changed i figured I'd bump it. I have a small set of Criteria that I use when picking a favorite song.

1: It has to be my favorite song on the album.

2: If it's a single it needs to have a video I can watch for hours on end without being bored. .

3: There has to be a good story behind the song/video.

favorite song on Album

Not a single but the yt vid I posted is kind of a video and I could still watch it for hours on end and enjoy it the whole time.

The story (as you can see from the vid) is based on Megaman 2 for the NES and it's a good story/game so it's enough for me.

Great music at it's finest with this song here. If you're reading this and haven't listened to the song yet stop and do it now I promise you won't be disappointed even if you've never played Megaman 2.

Escape the Fate - Not Good Enough For Truth In Cliche

This song is definately my faveourite song of all time, no doubt about it.

Escape the Fate is probably my faveourite band and this song was recorded with their original singer, Ronnie Radke and released on their debut album, Dying Is Your Latest Fashion.

It combines everything that I want in a good song;
1. Catchy lyrics
2. Catchy music
3. Good singing
4. Some screaming

It has all of those and is just a classic song and was one of the first songs I heard from them which completely changed what music I was listening to. I saw them (With Craig as vocalist) do this song live and it was amazing, I only just wish it could have been Ronnie. From what I understand, the song is about the relationship with Ronnie and the girl he sings about Juliet and how they can't be together. Great song and everyone should check it out.

Jesus by Brand New

This song is absolute perfection and it really along at a time when I was really trying to figure out who I was and who I was wanting to become. It is just a powerful song with about as simple piece of music as you could write. It's about gripping with the reality of death and understanding there is nothing we can do about it. We may have problems in life, we may have a great life, but no matter what there is death at the end. It's not a "Christian rock" song either. Although the members of Brand New are Christians, their music often questions their faith and beliefs and can be tough to listen to sometimes. It is just an all-around great song.

Although it was released as a single, there wasn't a video made for it, so here it is with the album cover. "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" is also my favorite album I've ever bought and is perfect from start to finish.

My favorite line from the song:

"Jesus Christ, I'm not scared to die.
I'm a little bit scared of what comes after.
Do I get the gold chariot?
Do I float through the ceiling?"

I just love this song.

I have two, the first is probably the first real song I ever truly got into and is from my favorite band of all times. It was the first I heard from them and still remains my favorite. Superman's dead By Our Lady Peace, this song just never gets old no matter how many times I listen to it. I love it

The next song is my current most played song on my Ipod, I find it insanely catchy with some very thought out lyrics that make you just want to sing along.Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. Just like the previous song it never gets old, I listen to it at least once a day. Its just so cool. Everybody needs to listen to this song at least once in their life.

Rap/Hip Hop: 2pac Hit Em Up

This is my favorite song because you could feel real passion coming from 2pac. He was always an emotional man but when he put this out it brought me some new found respect for him. Even though it was a dis song for one of my favorite rappers on Notorious B.I.G it was a window onto the thought pattern of one of the greatest story tellers in Rap.

RnB:
Mickael Jackson - The Way you Make me Feel.

Michael Jeckson will always be on my top 5 lists of artists he invented the art of movie motion music clips. He was as innovative as an artist as one can be with a following still growing today. Regardless of his life outside of music he will always be remembered as a great talent to the music scene as a whole and a giant loss to it aswell.

The reason why I chose this song was because of the beat being more uptempo and upbeat leaving you in a positive state of mind. It is infectiously catchy and a great song with classic lyrics that everyone can and does relate to.

Rock: Linkin Park - In The End.

Even in it's relatively modern state many would consider this a classic and a great song that basically launched them into the Stratosphere. On the back of a solid album like Hybrid Theory with songs that were all great in their own way this was the one that stuck out for me. Chester shows just how strong his voice is and Mike SHinoda shows that he has flow for days.

Marching On Together The vocals on the original recording were sung by the then-members of the Leeds United team and their supporters. The record stayed in the UK Singles Chart for almost 3 months, peaking at number 10, in 1972 after Leeds reached the FA Cup Final, and later won the domestic Cup. After Leeds' promotion back to the Championship in May 2010, the song was digitally re-mastered and re-released in an effort to get the song into the UK Singles Chart. By 4pm on Monday, the song was already sitting 8th in the iTunes store charts and top of both the Amazon.com and Play.com singles charts. On the Official Chart Company's Official Chart Update the song charted at 10 and was the highest new entry apart from B.o.B's Nothin' On You. Marching On Together, also entered the Irish Singles Chart on the 20th May 2010 at number 41.

It's gotta be Friday-Rebecca Black.
The incredible lyrics, for one, make this song legendary. Lyrics like;
"Kickin' in the front seat
Sittin' in the back seat
Gotta make my mind up
Which seat can I take?"
They represent the hard decisions some face in life. The front seat represents doing the thing that's easiest, and the back seat represents doing the right thing.
And her voice is like it came from the angels. If I can appreciate anything, it's good, auto-tuned singing.
I can also appreciate the fantastic sequence in which she explains the sequence of the days of the week. I was completely unaware that these days came in that order. She really opened my eyes, and pleasured my ears.
I think that this girl is on her way to being a legend.
