Favorite Non Wrestmania Attitude Era PPV

#heel420

Mr. Wrestling
What is your favorite Attitude Era(1997-2002) pay per view that wasn't a Wrestlemania?

Mine has to be Summer Slam 98 with Stone Cold Vs. Undertaker for the WWF Title as the main event. The card also featured The Rock Vs. Triple H in a ladder match for the IC Title.

Or

No Way Out 2001 The Rock Vs. Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship and an amazing 3 Stages of Hell match with Steve Austin Vs. HHH.

Just noticed I misspelled Wrestlemania in the title my bad.

An old favorite of mine was Fully Loaded 2000 with the 3 main events; Rock v benoit title match, Undertaker v Angle and HHH v Y2J in a last man standing match. The whole event was awesome and typified the attitude era.
Another would be Royal Rumble 2000 or even Summerslam 2000 as both were epic and made for great entertainment

Without a shadow of doubt, mine has to be Summerslam 2000! It was the definition of everything the WWF was about at the that time. You had Blackman face Shane for the hardcore title. They beat the hell out of each other around the arena, ending with Shane losing by falling off of the titantron. Classic. Plus, there was the fun 6 man tag between Too Cool and The RTC. That was a pretty decent match to warm up the crowd. King beat Tazz after JR smashed the candy jar on his skull. The Brothers of destruction faced off in an all out brawl. The bell didn't even ring, they just beat the hell out of each other. We witnessed the best TLC match (imo) to date with The Hardyz, Dudleyz, and E&C. Go back and watch that match and tell me those spots weren't insane! Also, we had Benoit vs Jericho and X-pac vs Road Dogg in two classic singles bouts. I believe Val and Trish teamed to take on Chyna and Eddie. That was a straight match. Plus, the stinkface match between Terri and The Kat. You have no idea how many times I rewinded that match!! Lastly, there was triple threat match for the WWF title. HHH and Angle fought for about 5 minutes. Then when The Rock showed up, the crowd went ape shit! I still mark out sometimes when I hear that music and everybody in the crowd just pops up to life! Next to WM X-Seven, I believe it's the 2nd greatest PPV of all time! Just an overall great show for a true wrestling fan!

I just pulled up my old video tapes (lol ;), of summerslam 2000 and fully loaded 2000, gonna relive both of them.
Thank you heel 420 for reminding me how brilliant the attitude era was :)
my nights sorted now haha

Don't know why, but Unforgiven 2000 has always been a favourite of mine. I remember first watching it on a video tape and I fell in love with the entire show. It was one of my favourite pay-per-view's I had ever seen at the time, baring in mind, at the age I was, I didn't quite get the concept of Raw and SmackDown and PPV.

The show opened with a 8-Man Tag Team Match featuring the Right to Censor defeat the Dudley Boyz and the APA. Nothing special really. Jerry Lawler versus Tazz followed in a Strap Match, which also saw a somewhat of a WWE debut for Raven. A good Hardcore Battle Royal followed for the WWF Hardcore Championship. I found it quite entertaining, seeing guys who don't really have much to do show off in an extreme environment. Chris Jericho versus X-Pac followed. The feud had been good going into it and the match itself wasn't too bad.

The WWF Tag Team Championship was defended in a Steel Cage Match, featuring Edge and Christian and the Hardy Boyz. 'Nuff said. The WWF Intercontinental Championship Match saw Eddie Guerrero against Rikishi. Not much to it. But, next came Kurt Angle versus Triple H, no disqualification, with Mick Foley as the referee. A really entertaining match which saw Angle really come into it early on in his WWF/E career. The main evenet was a Fatal-4-Way Match for the WWF Championship. The Rock beat Chris Benoit, Kane and The Undertaker to retain. A screw finish saw Benoit win the title, only for the match to be restarted and the Rock won.

Overall, good night. I really enjoyed the matches put on, especially the latter two I said and the Steel Cage Match. The Rock's promo before the WWF Title match was also entertaining. Good pay-per-view in my opinion, my favourite in the Attitude Era besides WrestleMania.

Backlash 2000 just for the main event it was amazing. Rock finally beat the mcmahon-helmsley faction i went nuts! Apart from that i probably go with No mercy 2000. It had angle win his 1st wwf title and austin return to the ring since ss 99.

I have seen a lot of good PPVs mentioned, but I'm shocked no one has picked this one:

Royal Rumble 2001

You had Dudleyz vs. E&C for the Tag titles; Benoit-Jericho, in a classic Ladder Match, for the IC title; Angle vs. Triple HHH for the WWF title; and last, but certainly not least, the awesome Royal Rumble match itself.

It was an amazing show and one that still stands up to this day. It is not only one of the best non-Mania PPVs of the Attitude Era, it's one of the best PPVs ever, including Manias, of any era.

i cant name any off the top of my head . . but i would have to say any of the ppv's that included a match with the hardys e&c or the dudleys, whether it was a cage match, tlc, ladder match, etc. they always seemed to raise the bar for everyone else on the roster . . in my mind i cant think of any teams that ever worked better together then those three if so please lemme know . . im still impressed and wow'd everytime i watch those matches

If you’re counting all of 2002 I’ll say SummerSlam 2002. The best SummerSlam of all in my opinion. Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle kicked it off with a great opener. Edge and Eddie Guerrero had a solid match. Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit added to the tradition of good IC title matches at SummerSlam. Brock Lesnar was a fresh new face and established himself as the top guy after only five months by beating the Rock for the world title. And of course the highlight of the night was the return of Shawn Michaels. After a four and a year half hiatus HBK hadn’t missed a beat. He was as good as ever and watching that match against Triple H took me back to my teen years. That is one of my all time favorite matches and one I could watch over and over with out ever getting tired of it.

Summerslam 2000 is my favorite. Rocky pretty much summed it all up. One of the best ppv's ever. The Rock hitting the ring, and the crowd's reaction was awesome. Great ppv.

Summerslam 2000: Brilliant PPV. Tag Team TLC match was amazing. Great two out of three falls between Benoit and Jericho. Fantastic hardcore match between Blackman and Shane. And good triple threat main even Rock vs. HHH vs. Angle. add to that the good action for Guerrero, too cool and co. Also had Undertaker vs. Kane....quick brawl but still was entertaining.

Royal Rumble 2001 The royal rumble match itself is still considered by many as the best one ever ..and rightfully so imo. The show also had HHH-Angle for the title and a great ladder match between Jericho and Benoit. Memorable ppv.

Well you ask for one, I gave 2...there are more memorable PPVs, like No way out 2001, Backlash 2000, summerslam 1998, Survivor Series 1998, Fully loaded 2000 were great too.

The first ppv I remember watching is Royal Rumble 2000 and it's still possibly my favourite.

I'd only got into wrestling shortly before and had seen very little so didn't know any of the wrestlers.

I remember thinking the setup of the arena was really cool baring in mind I was only 8 years old lol.

When I saw everyone get excited when Taz came out I immediately liked him then him and Kurt Angle suplexing eachother all over the place was an entertaining start.

Then one of my favourite matches, the tag team table match, pretty much know it move for move like the street fight, which also made Mick Foley my favourite wrestler.

I also thought the Rumble match and tag title matches were fun, looking back they weren't the best but that whole ppv is what got me hooked to wrestling.

I have been buying quite a few WWE PPV's lately from that era and would have to agree with some of the others above Summerslam 2000 was unbelievable. The perfect PPV. I know I will be hated by some guys for this but I would actually say it was better than Wrestlemania 17.

The show was perfect, and like I said lately i've watched many pay per views but I even text my friend who is also a WWE fan and said "buy summerslam 2000!"

Few honourable mentions for NWO 2001, backlash 2000 and just as we speak im watching Summerslam 2002. I've always had a soft spot for fully loaded 1999, no idea why i wouldn't say it's the best from that era but was a good PPV. the build on the night for Taker Austin was outstanding

Summerslam 2002.
Brock vs The Rock, Mysterio and Angle starting the show off with a blistering match and HBK's return vs HHH. Classic card

Royal Rumble 2000.It's gotta be one of the greatest PPVs of all time.

Taz making one of the best debut in a match against an undefeated angle. An as soon as Taz's music hit the MSG arena went CRAZY. You can tell, alot of ECW fans were there.

Dudleyz vs Hardyz in a table match. I think the names of those two great tag teams sums it all. They always deliver.

Royal Rumble match. Well, I must say, the pop that Rock got when his music hit is by far the biggest pop he's ever recieved in his career. The fans were chanting "We want Rocky" through out the whole match, and him winning was an icing on the cake. Another mark out moment was the 3 members of too cool dancing during the match.

Gonna go with an underrated one here and say Backlash 2000. It just ticks every box.

9 solid, entertaining matches. Every title, except for the Women's, was defended. Highlights included the 6-man hardcore title match with the Hardys bringing the ladders into the fray.
Benoit and Jericho if the IC title in a submission match, and as usual, these two never fail to put on a good match.
Big Show dressed as Hulk Hogan - complete with bleached handlebar moustache - beating Kurt Angle.
Vintage Bubba Ray Dudley putting Trish through a table.
Eddie Guerrero vs. Essa fucking Rios for the Euro title in one the best cruiserweight matches ever in the WWE.
And of course the main event; Rock and Triple H, rivalry of the year with the McMahons getting stuck in, Rock Bottom to Shane and Trips through the announce table, Stone Cold returning and chairing everyone, new WWF champ. Classic Attitude era main event.

Backlash just goes to show, as KB said the other day, that the WWF in 2000 had the best roster ever.

For me it has to be King of the Ring 1997 Bc of Stone Cold Vs. HBK or In Your House: DeGeneration X tor Stone Cold Vs. The Rock with NOD. Both featured a more hungry, aggressive Stone Cold. HBK was in his prime IMO and Rock was finally in his groove and on his way to being a top heel.

Definitely SummerSlam 2000! great ppv from top to bottom, and featured my all-time favourite non-wrestlemania match in the main event. Triple H vs The Rock vs Kurt Angle for the title the match had everything and from that moment on i've always loved triple threat matches!

I agree with Diet Soda, Backlash 2000 is amazing and very under rated! The main event is possibly my favourite title match in history, tied with a couple.

But like Irish Glen, Summerslam 2000 for me! At the minute it is probably my favourite PPV ever
