Mid-Card Championship Winner
John Cena and CM Punk have had 13 matches on WWE television. Which one is your favorite?

1. Raw - November 23, 2009

John Cena won this match in their first outing. I remember this match getting praised with people begging to see more from these two. Little did we know that we were looking into the future with this one...

2. Raw - December 14, 2009 (Superstar of the Year Tournament match)

This was pretty much a squash with Punk tapping out in under 2 minutes. How far he's gotten right?

3. Raw - June 7, 2010 (Viewer's Choice)

The viewers voted Punk into the match, and although it wasn't half-bad, it was overshadowed by the NXT rookies who stormed the ring and destroyed ringside!

4. Raw - January 17, 2011

After his amazing stint on commentary, Punk returned to the ring as the leader of New Nexus and begun his first formal feud with Cena. This match ended in a DQ after Mason Ryan debuted and attacked Punk.

5. Raw - February 14, 2011

This was CM Punk's first real win against Cena. A member of the Nexus gave him a weapon so he could use it to win, but hey, a win is still a win.

6. Raw - June 13, 2011

This was another win for Punk although it only occurred due to R-Truth interference. This match was just used to further the Cena/Truth feud, but it foreshadowing of WWE's next top storyline.

7. WWE Money in the Bank - July 17, 2011 (WWE Championship, Title vs. Career)

The most infamous of Punk and Cena's encounters, this will probably always be remembered as the turning point for Punk's career. Cena had his career on the line while Punk's contract was ending that very night. Vince and Laurinitis tried to interfere to keep Punk from winning the title, but their plan backfired. They distracted Cena during an STF, and allowed Punk to hit the GTS for the win. Even though it wasn't a clean finish, it was still an amazing moment for Punk.

8. WWE SummerSlam - August 14, 2011 (WWE Championship, Special Referee: Triple H)

Punk was back almost immediately for a Champion vs. Champion match. They had another excellent outing, but this time, Triple H didn't see Cena's foot on the ropes and accidentally gave Punk the win. This eventually led to the convoluted "Nash texts himself" storyline.

9. Raw - August 22, 2011 (#1 Contender to WWE Championship)

After 5 straight wins for Punk, Cena got another win when Nash distracted Punk. This was shorter than their other matches, but they still had a good match.

10. Raw - July 23, 2012 (WWE Championship, Money in the Bank Cash-in)

This was the night Punk turned heel. Big Show caused a DQ allowing Cena to win the match while Punk did nothing about it. He ended up GTS'ing The Rock which eventually led to their 2013 feud.

11. WWE Night of Champions (WWE Championship)

Punk and Cena had an excellent main event, but it ended with the crowd chanting "Bullshit" after it was declared a draw. Despite the finish, they both brought their A-game for the match.

12. Raw - November 12, 2012

Prior to the Survivor Series Triple Threat match with Ryback, Cena went one-on-one again with Punk. Here, Cena got his first clean win against Punk in almost 3 years, tying with Punk for 5 wins a piece.

13. Raw - February 25, 2012 (#1 Contender to WWE Championship)

Cena defended his spot in the WM main event and subsequently broke his tie with CM Punk. They're full record is now 6-5-2.

So which one is your favorite match? Do you care to rank them? Comment below and let me know!

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you missing Money in the Bank 2011 on your list? John Cena(c) vs CM Punk for WWE Championship, July 17th 2011 in Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. As for my vote, it would be the MitB2011. Greatly enjoyed it, and wasn't personally expecting the outcome it had.

It's still Money in the Bank for me. Not only was it a great match, the emotion of Punk winning in his hometown, and blowing Vince a kiss and walking out with the belt (when practically no one thought it would end like that) was absolutely amazing, and so was the crowd pop. That night brought me back to wrestling after I left it following the Benoit tragedy.

I was about to give you positive rep and vote but realized you missed the most important match in Punk's career and IMO their best, MITB 2011. This was an amazing an emotional match that really kickstarted Punk's superstardom.

Money in the Bank 2011. The build, the atmosphere, and the match were all incredible. I showed the match to a lapsed wrestling fan buddy of mine, and he was surprised that wrestling crowds still got so rowdy. A few weeks later he actually attended a local show with me. I don't know if he's still keeping up, but there's no way he goes to that indy show if I don't show him CM Punk vs. John Cena at MITB 2011.

It ranks among my all-time favorites because it was a compelling story that was told well. From the infamous "pipe bomb" promo to CM Punk tweeting a picture of the WWE Championship in his fridge, the whole affair was a masterpiece. Taking nothing away from their other encounters, this match set the bar a notch higher then they'll be able to reach again, all things considered.

Money In the Bank 2011 is the best match between John Cena and CM Punk.

They have had a string of good matches during this lengthy feud now, but they have yet to top their confrontation at Money In the Bank 2011 and I doubt they will be able to. Their most recent match on Raw comes close as it was a high quality match, however they will have to come up with something purely amazing in order to be superior to the MITB 2011 match. The main reason is the great deal of uncertainty that surrounded that match. Any other match between them we will expect greatness, but the uncertainty element is mostly absent. We'll have a good idea of who will win based upon the build up.

That was not the case with MITB 2011. Most of us thought Cena was going to win and Punk's first Pipe Bomb was just to cause more interest before he leaves. He did leave, but as the WWE Champion. That's a moment I won't soon forget. We all know he came back and in a very cool way, although at the time the uncertainty that generated so much more interest in the match combined with how good it was in the ring made it their best match and the standard that all of their future matches should be compared to. I honestly doubt it will ever be topped by future Punk VS Cena matches. It would take an equally great match combined with a better storyline that generates more interest in the upcoming PPV.

I have seen all the matches that you have listed and some are quite good while others I cant remember too well. For me its money in the bank. For reasons that were already stated above in previous comments. It had the atmosphere, storyline and surprise.

A close 2nd for me is the match they had on the most recent RAW on 25/2/13. I always knew Cena was going to win, so at 1st I didnt think the match was going to be much different from other matches they had. I thought that it would be average. I was wrong the match was brilliant. There was some great twists and turns. The piledriver was a surprise. Cena did a Hurricanrana at house show i was at in Dublin back in Nov or Dec against Ziggler, so I knew it was only a matter of time b4 it came to tv. Everything about this match worked. I just wish Cena would have these kind of matches more often cause im so board with his shit. This kind of match makes me glad to be a wrestling fan, I watch almost every week hoping for something like this and every so often I get it and that helps me stay with the product and sit through some other stuff I cringe at.

Im annoyed with meself for deleting RAW from the box because that match deserves another watch.

It seems like some of you haven't noticed, but every heading on the list links to the actual match. You can watch all the ones you want before making your choice in the polls.

As for Money in the Bank, I kinda suffered a formatting fail. I wrote a paragraph for it, but I accidentally stuck it inside the URL link for the SummerSlam match. No biggie, it's on the poll, and that's what matters most.

As for my pick, I went with their first match. Don't get me wrong, I understand why people might not think it's the best match, but it very well is my FAVORITE one. I remember being so excited to see that match happen. It was a big deal for me at the time, especially because it was quite competitive for a Cena match. They have since had better matches, but I still remember their first one very fondly.

Plus, I figured everyone would vote for Money in the Bank so why not vote for another one of my favorites? :p

Wow i honestly cant believe the op forgot to mention the best of the bunch Money in the Bank 2011. That match the buildup made you believe if Punk was gonna win the title he would leave WWE with the belt. That being said if it did happen punk would have the most important title in the companies history, and wwe would be left without a true champion.

The hatred the Chicago crowd showed towards Cena that match was indeed a powder keg. Near fall after near fall, counter after counter. The match was a five-star match it really was.

For the people out there saying Cena cant wrestle he sure has been in a lot of quality matches in his career. The MITB 2011 was indeed the best of the bunch wow i get goosebumps everytime i rewatch and think about that match.

Granted I have never seen the NOC 2012 match i do wanna see it but MITB and hell even summerslam match were matches that if someone was leaning towards being a fan,you might wanna show them this one.

The MITB match had a huge unknown quantity and freshness about it that makes it impossible for any of the other matches to compare with, but I thought Cena and Punk did an amazing job drawing everyone into their match on Monday despite most being pretty certain Cena would win, and in ring I actually think the Raw match slightly edges it especially due to being a clean finish with no run-ins or controversy.

The latest one, It was a WrestleMania calibre match in a Raw setting.
can't really remember the other ones now :)

I really quite enjoyed their latest match on Raw Feb 25th, I loved the "story" that was played out, CM Punk had studied Cena and had him scouted, after so many matches he had an answer for everything Cena threw at him. For every big move Cena had, Punk had a reversal. Finally Cena had to come up with something Punk would never expect, hence the Hurricanrana, albeit a very ugly Hurricanrana, but it was a move so far out of left field that CM Punk had no idea it was coming, giving Cena the win.
This story kind of reminds me of Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania when Eddie knew he couldn't beat Angle clean so he had to think outside the box and undid his shoelace so when Angle put on the ankle lock Eddie easily slipped out of his boot and grabbed the win while Kurt Angle was in shock ofwhat had just happened still holding Guerrero's boot in hand.

Money in the bank easily was their best and highlight match in my opinion. It got Punk over in a way that he's never looked back from. He took the lead as the "guy", regardless of Cena's draw for top dollar. Punk has the pulse of the WWE and it's fans whether "face or heel", it runs through him. What more can be said but a possible swan song match (again....) for Undertaker facing "God, and The Best in the world".

Definitely the Money In The Bank match. The build up was the best the WWE had in ages, the atmosphere and the crowd was insane and they gave the ECW crowd at the One Night Stand PPV's a run for their money, and the match itself was amazing and unpredictable. It had everything you would want in a feud. Vince and Laurinatis coming down to the ring to rehash the Montreal Screwjob before Cena broke up his STFU on Punk and laid out Laurinatis with a punch, stopping him, was a great touch to the match also. And the ending to the PPV with Punk blowing a kiss to Vince and running into the crowd with the belt still gives me goosebumps to this day just thinking about it.

The MITB match for me. It had great build with Punk telling Vince he would leave with the title if he won. A great match and the crowd was completely insane just adding even more to the match. Cena preventing the screwjob only to come back in the ring and lose the match. Punk celebrating with the fans and blowing Vince a kiss. One of my favorite matches period in a long time.

MITB 2011 easily. Not only was it their best match, but the build and atmosphere they created was classic. The crowd made the match even better than it already was. This one will remain their greatest and most important match of their feud IMO.
