Everything to do with big screen TVs.

Excellence of Execution
I bought my Samsung 60" 1080p HDTV back in June and matching surrounding surround sound. Worked three weeks of summer school just to afford it. And I absolutely love it. Haven't regretted the purchase yet. From watching TV, to playing video games, syncing my iPod on it, or even just impressing friends, it's been the greatest purchase of my life?

How many of you have a big screen TV? You like it? Wish you had a bigger one? A different brand?

I don't have one, I would love one as there is a big empty wall in my place where it would look epic. There is nothing better then sitting down and watching the footy on a big screen Telly. the sound is better, the graphics are better and you can rub it into friends that its bigger then theirs.

Mum has one at her house though. I could sit there for hours playing video games on a screen that big. it helps capture the magic...

I will own one soon enough, just got to finish my training.

Samsung 58" 1080p HDTV and its fantastic. I love every minute watching it and I do not regret buying it. I cannot watch tv on my normal tv anymore its just not good enough compared to my plasma. Whether it be watching movies, listening to music, playing Playstation 3 its just the best. And the best thing me and my Dad love doing is impressing friends with it.

I want to say Sony, but it's 2 metres away and I had it debadged. It's bigger than my old one that was about 50 inch, and it's flat. It's also that that HD stuff that I don't need. I refuse to pay for the HD channels because, really, I never saw anything wrong with the image before high definition. It didn't buy it, although my money was used.

End of the day it's just a tv, I'd be just as happy with a small one. PS3 games do look very pretty though, now excuse me while I play one of the two Blue-Ray discs that I own.

I had a Samsung 40" 1080p, LCD HDTV. The base broke, causing the fucker to fall forward and it cracked.

Since then, we've replaced it with a lesser model, Sanyo 42" LCD HDTV.

While I personally don't think it was as good as the Samsung, it's at least not given me any problems. Some of the HD channels come in kinda blotchy though, which didn't happen on the Samsung, at least not that I ever noticed. Also, when I play the 360 on it.. it isn't as bright as everything used to be on the Samsung.

Overall though, I'd much rather have the Sanyo just because it's been a more trusting television in my home for a long time. We had Sanyo televisions for years, and I only switched to Samsung for the upgraded HD.. then it bit me in the ass, by letting me watch $2,000.00 go down the drain via a crack that's not even noticable.

I also don't have surround sound, yet, but I think if we upgrade the other parts of the house with more HDTV's we'll get it.

I got mine about 3 years ago, when not many people had them. Mine is a LG Plasma 42", I believe. It's not HD, but I'm not 100% sure on that. My family basically only uses it for watching TV and DVD's. I play my Xbox 360 in the other room on the shitty TV, so I can play online and play whenever I want. But I love my plasma screen. We have only had 1 problem with it, and it was fixed within a week or two.

The picture is fantastic and the colours are amazing. Watching sport on the TV is amazing and they truly are worth buying. Eventually, I think every household will have one. LG isn't the most reliable brand, but ours was fairly expensive at the time and it's by far the best TV I've ever had.

Also, surround sound works great with the plasma. Nothing beats it.

I'm currently sporting a 42" Samsung LCD (720p resolution, though). It's been good and I've used the heck out of it. However, I recommend buying a service plan with EVERY large TV purchase if you go to some place like Best Buy or wherever. My bulb just went out and they have to fix it for free...at my house. Otherwise, the TV has been trouble-free for the most part. The clarity on 480 standard stuff is kind of shoddy, though. The high-def programming from Dish Network is awesome, though.

I was hell-bent on snaring a newer, larger version with full 1080p res. However, after doing a little research, I've decided to forego wasting my money on a TV and instead opt to purchase a projector.

Specifically, the Epson C6100. I already have a 7.1 surround system that I've been paying through the nose for, so I figured...why the hell should I settle for about 60" of screen space with a large, cumbersome TV, when I can have a smaller projector that sports a 100" screen with pristine clarity?

Projection technology has finally gotten to the point where home theater is a viable option without having to deal with an actual TV. Plus, the cost of the Epson model I'm going for is only about $2,000. The main difference being that the average TV comes with 10-20 watt speakers inside. I don't need those, so I'm not going to pay for 'em. I can't wait until this summer. I just have to bide my time and pay off my drums, and then...BLAMMO! Projector City!

My family got one about 2 weeks ago, 42" Sharp LCD, and it's great, and a major step up from a normal TV. The picture quality's improved dramatically, and you can seriously not beat watching sport on it. Only watched some cricket and some soccer on it, and I can't wait to see how the AFL looks on it. There's nothing wrong with it, and it's the perfect TV for the room where we have it. It fits pefectly. It was a great buy.

My television's a 56" Samsung DLP and my home theater system's a Bose 3-2-1. And, like Kasey did for his TV, I definitely got service plans for both of these bad boys.

I'm glad to see that people here are, for the most part, moving away from projection televisions (not to be confused with projectors...when I can afford one, I definitely plan on getting one). Ultimately, they are nothing but a nuisance in my opinion, since their "color guns" come out of alignment so often if you use them on a regular basis. Moreover, they are prone to image-burn given how delicate their screens are.

Anyway, I opted for the Bose instead of a more intricate piecemeal home theater system because I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing it. The Bose 3-2-1 is just much simpler. However, when I actually build my dream home theater, I will probably opt for audio equipment from either Denon or Onkyo.

My family purchased a 42 inch Sony Bravia LCD with 1080p about a year ago(I think). I think it's great. We have some HD channels and other such things. The picture is great and I don't have any problems with it. One downside is that my parents won't let me hook up my xbox360 to it because if I were to use it, then others wouldn't be able to. Now we keep the Wii hooked up to the HD tv and it's a waste. We're probably going to get a new one soon and move the current one into the secondary living room(I'll be able to use it with my xbox369). We're planning on going 10-15 inches bigger and will probably stay with Sony. We should be getting Blu-ray player to coincide with the purchase and we'll probably replace the current sound system we have. It wasn't that bad to hook up, but it's crap.
