Every Promotion Should Be Pure.

Super Crazy

CABS ARE HEEEERREEE!!

First off let me say I post this in the General Wrestling section as it can apply to any wrestling promotion. So after getting into Ring of Honor and looking up some stuff. I've come to the conclusion that I feel every wrestling company should have a belt similar to what was the ROH Pure Championship. I really like the concept of the championship. Matches for the ROH Pure Championship were conducted under Pure Wrestling Rules. The three Pure Wrestling Rules are:

1. Each wrestler has three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match. After a wrestler exhausts his rope breaks, submission and pin attempts under the ropes by the opponent are considered legal.
2. There are no closed-fist punches to the face allowed in a Pure match, only open-handed slaps or chops to the face are allowed. Punches to other parts of the body (save for low-blows) are permitted. The first use of a closed fist will get a warning, and the second will cause the wrestler to be penalized a rope break. If he is already out of rope breaks, he will be disqualified.
3. A wrestler is subject to a twenty count by the referee if the wrestler goes to the floor.

The title could also potentially change hands on a disqualification or count out.

I personally feel a championship like this could work in any promotion. I mean sure, in the current set up of the WWE and TNA it might not, due to the already large amount of championships, but let's say WWE was to eliminate the United States Championship and introduce the Pure Championship or call it something like that. It could be a belt that is contested for by the wrestlers who show real athleticism and have insane talent in the ring.

The same goes for TNA, they could eliminate the Legends or " Global " Championship and substitute something like this. Although, really in TNA's younger years, The X Division Championship could be considered their representation of this championship as all the men who contested for this belt were amazing in the ring.

I don't know why, but I really love the idea of this championship. Do you guys think it could work in WWE or TNA? Did you like the idea in Ring of Honor?

I love the Pure Championship. Unfortunately it's everything that is exactly opposite of the WWE. The WWE isn't about athleticism, it's about showmanship and midget jokes, or something like that. The WWE hasn't even pretended to call their performers wrestlers in over a decade. They'd never go for an idea like that.

I'd absolutely love to see it though. It could definitely work in TNA, but I doubt they'd ever do something like this because it'd be seen as them ripping of ROH for the ten millionth time. They already stole most of their talent from ROH as it is.

I'd love to see it, but it's not going to happen. ROH treats their product with respect, whereas the WWE likes to throw fart and midget jokes at us. Different worlds.

It's really a shame too. Because a championship like this could save guys like Shelton Benjamin and Evan Bourne. It could even give Rey Mysterio something to do besides his usual David vs Goliath routine.

Shelton Benjamin is full of altheliticism that is often times unmatched in the ring, at least by WWE competitors. I believe that having a championship such as this could help give him something to fight for and actually make people garner interest in his character again. Sure you could say he has no mic skills and isn't charismatic, but who needs charisma when all you could be doing is going out to the ring and showing your talent to maintain a championship that would actually mean something.

I'm not saying that championships like the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship, or the IC or US title don't mean anything, but I mean, most of these championships come off more as props these days rather then championships that are worth fighting for. A belt like the Pure Championship seems like somethign someone could actually strive for. Plus winning a championship in a match that actually has strict rules to it, it would be fairly challenging.

Also for a guy like Evan Bourne it would do wonders for him. He is super over with the crowd, but he has no purpose out there. He goes out there , night in and night out, stuck in lower midcard purgatory on Raw. Everyone says he is a part of the Miz and Swagger feud but I really don't see it. And really, he has never been a part of a feud to begin with. At least having a championship such as this would give him something to do, something to strive for. It could take him out of jobberland and actually make him more entertaining to watch.

As for TNA, like I said, a lot of their guys are really althletic in the ring, and that is why the X Division title was originally created. Since the X Division has kind of lost its spotlight in TNA I feel that either making the X Division championship be contested like this or creating a championship such as this would do wonders for them.
