Evan Bourne - Definite US Champ?

On Raw last night, Evan Bourne faced Dolph Ziggler in a United States Championship Match. He lost, but that was kind of expected. However, there's something that was bugging me. I had a question on my mind throughout the entire Match. That question was;

Will Evan Bourne Be The Next US Champ?

You can say no all you want, but I genuinely believe that the answer is YES. Why you ask? Well, let's see. Lots of people believe that you shouldn't play around with your Top Title on TV, unless it's PPV. However, last night, the WWE treated us to TWO WWE Title Matches and we saw Two new Champions. During the United States Championship match, I couldn't help but want and believe Bourne was going to be the new Champion. But then it struck me, "Do the WWE really want both of Raw's exclusive Titles to change hands in one night?". Of course they don't. If anything, this is the Title they should've given over last night. Then again, there's making Ziggler look good with at the same time. Anyways, here's what I think we're going to see on next weeks Raw, in some way;

Dolph Ziggler has a Match in which he wins and possibly retains the US Title yet again. After the Match, Bourne's music hits & he comes out to the top of the Entrance Ramp. Ziggler starts off by bad-mouthing him with "I beat you last week" & "What makes you think you can interrupt me?" Bourne says he could've won last week, but he didn't. So, he wants to prove himself, to Ziggler, Vickie, HHH and most importantly, the WWE Universe. So he challenges Dolph Ziggler to a US Title Match, at SUMMERSLAM! Ziggler is hesitant, but Vickie tells him it's the perfect opportunity to show himself off, so Zigger does agree. Come Summerslam, Bourne beats Ziggler and becomes the new US Champ. Now tell me;

1) Is this possible/feasible?

2) Would you be interested in Bourne as Champ?

3) Would you want to see it happen?

1) It is highly possible that Bourne will win the US Championship. Why? The crowd love him, in my eyes he is better than Sin Cara high flying wise, and he looks serious. I enjoy Bourne and everything he does. Shame he isn't already a champion.

2) I am counting down the days until he wins the US Title. Please, Vince, get the strap round Bourne, have a feud with Ziggler, maybe Kingston and McIntyre and get the US Title doing something. I feel that with Bourne, they can do that.

3) As said already, counting down the days...

I have to admit that I don't have exceedingly high hopes for Evan Bourne, at least not anymore. It's not that I don't think that he deserves a few accolades for his efforts. He does. But he's been booked as a loser for a long time, ever since he got out of ECW. He's been able to grab a few short bursts of success, but they've always been smashed down before they could get any real momentum. Based on that, it's hard to see Bourne getting a championship.

But then again, this is the U.S. Championship, which is pretty much the lowest in prestige with the exception of the Diva's Championship. That being said, if Bourne is in line for any championship at all, then the U.S. Championship would be the way to go. It's really only on that basis that I think that Bourne has a shot at any championship. Again, he deserves a few short to medium championship runs before it's all over, but I don't see the WWE exactly bending over backwards to see what he can do.

Zigglar should move one level up - his talent i good enough to be the champ. But shamefully his mic skills aren't great.

On topic, yes he will get a complimentary title shot, and he might win it for 2-3 months but that's it. He has more scope in the Tag Team division IMHO.

1) Is this possible/feasible?

Sure, it's entirely possible. Far stranger things have happened than Evan Bourne winning a mid-card championship in WWE. Is it likely to happen? Not anytime soon. I think one thing people forget about is that Evan Bourne is still a very young man. I think he's only about 27 or 28 years old. Barring serious injury, he could potentially have a very long and viable career ahead of him in the WWE. I just don't believe that it's his time right now. From an overall perspective, I think that there are guys that are much further along than Bourne and Dolph Ziggler is one of them.

2) Would you be interested in Bourne as Champ?

Probably, at some point later on down the line. It'd be nice to see Bourne win the United States Championship but I don't wanna see him have the title just for the sake of having it. There've been too many title reigns like that with the IC title this year and the same thing shouldn't happen to the US strap. Evan Bourne's just not there right now. He needs to rack up a good number of victories in matches rather than pulling out what looks to be a fluke win on occassion.

3) Would you want to see it happen?

I'd like to see it if Bourne is booked consistently stronger over a longer period of time. I just don't want to see WWE put the title on him if he winds up winning a few matches in a flukey fashion.

Yea I could see that happening for sure although for me it's a toss up between Riley and Bourne on who will be the next challenger.
I would lean towards Bourne as Riley is only just breaking out now and I feel Bourne derserves this more. So yes definitely possible :)

I would love to see Bourne as U.S champ - he can put on matches that can steal the show! Would very much like to see this happen :)

With Ziggy going main event in the next few months I would love to see him put the title to someone who needs it like Bourne of as mush as I don't like him a-ry. I push more to Bourne cause there's a little more money in the high flying electrifing evan air Bourne... Ok mark out moment passed. The us title needs to be put on someone with a decent following anyone but Kofi plz. Evan got my vote.

I'm 85% sure he'll be a U.S. or Intercontinental champion in the future. But right now he's being booked as the mid card jobber who gets a good reaction when he pulls out a win. I do think it's funny how he's burying Jack Swagger right now though. Swagger is one of the most boring that the E has to offer and the fact he had a title reign is straight absurd.

i dont know if he'll be the next US champion but i do see him definatley having a run with the championship. honestly i would like to see a bourne heel turn and have him feud with kofi or maybe even zach ryder. IMO i believe he could be a great lengthy US champion.

JackHammer nails it once again. Totally, 100% right

Bourne has always been over, but there are better options for US champion than him right now, although in the future that could change. He is a young guy, has plenty of time to make his mark and the US belt needs to be on someone with a legitimate chance of moving up the card to the main event in the near future, Dolph is one of those guys who is on the cusp of the title scene. He would benefit more.

I think I would like to see it, but he needs to have a couple of good feuds and look like a legitimite challenger first, rather than getting a lucky victory and being booked as a weak champion. He would basically coming from nowhere, and life as a jobber to win the belt, which is bad and far too fast. WWE rush people to getting belts at the moment, which doesnt build their credbility, and pushes wrestlers before they are ready for the strap.

Exactly right. Bourne could be a good mid-card champion, but you shouldn't just give him the belt out of the blue. He needs to be booked stronger over a few months before winning the US belt, that belt shouldn't be given to someone who was a jobber about 6 weeks previously. The US belt needs crediblity, and giving to to someone who wins it on a fluke after getting his ass kicked week after week will not help the title's reputation, or Bourne's career. It would be a throwaway title reign. He needs to be booked stronger until he is ready.

As small as he is, it'd hurt whoever was the heel he was against. You book to your audience, not your own tastes. I'd love to see it, but it's not realistic from a practicality standpoint.

I suggest he wins the tag titles with a larger partner. He's exciting, the people like him. However, think about this. I watch wrestling with my girlfriend to get an opinion from a less seasoned viewer. She always cracks a joke like "is he on so early so his mom won't yell at him for staying up too late" or "how did his Jr High prom go". She even thought it was unrealistic that Mysterio won the title "is the midget mexican gymnist really gonna win the belt?".

That's how most people think, you have to stay within your reality.

Would I like to see it? Yes. I've met his brother and him, both nice guys. However, in the WWE reality at the moment, at this stage in his career, no. Plus Ziggles is really picking up steam.

Like I said, if you want to give him a belt, team him with someone, hell, team with with Riley once Miz gets Riley nice and over. Or even Big Show when he comes back, how fun would that be? Bourne as the perfect beatdown guy, Show as the awesome hot tag and then Bourne does his cool shit in the finishing stretch.
