Eric Young is the *NEW* TNA World Television Champion

After tricking Gunner into thinking he'd lay down for a fast 3, Eric Young rolled up Gunner and became a 2 time TNA TV Champion. He along with AJ Styles are the only 2 wrestlers to hold the title under it's 3 different identities now. With EY's popularity seemingly going up, I feel this was a good mood. I would have preferred Chris Daniels but that would also mean sacrificing more titles for Fortune vs Immortal. I'm liking this.

Eric Young is the only wrestler to currently own 2 belts. ok so 1 of them isn't a title anymore since it's the old heavy weight belt that Hogan threw in the garbage.
I was kind of expecting this old heavy weight title belt to be taken off the air after last week when Gunner took it away from EY backstage. figured Gunner would come out tonight without it, and that would be the last we see of it. it was funny when EY had it before claiming to be a champion, but now that has run it's course, especially with EY winning the TV title.

I Love EY and I enjoyed seeing him winning the TV title off of Gunner even though I am also a fan of Gunner and think he has a ton of potential. I think that this is a pretty interesting feud and I've enjoyed their interactions over the last couple of weeks the thing I like most about this is how different Gunner and EY's characters are. EY isn't all serious and intense like Gunner which makes for an interesting dynamic. I would like to see EY continue to mess with Gunner and trick like he did tonight but eventually have Gunner absolutely beat the Shit out of and destroy EY hopefully at the next PPV Slammiversary.

Being a 2 time TNA TV champion is like being a 20 time WWE Hardcore Champion. At least EY has personality. So much for gunner being credible. This belt is pretty much the jobber comedy belt. At least EY can make it a lttle interesting.

I'm down to see how this turns out. If Gunner and EY can make something of it then I'm all for people actually having legit feuds over the TV Title.

EY is awesome , if only WWE could start making use of their EY Equivalent (Zack Ryder) WWKYI

I made my sig a pic of EY w/ the title on cause its just hilarious , dudes awesome

Just seemed another move of a useless belt which has absolutely no meaning. I find EY quite entertaining it just annoys me that TNA are promising me wrestling then they continue having stupid angles like this.

Great stuff. Now in future could you kindly *NOT* put that shit in the thread title. Some of us haven't seen Impact yet.

Fuckin' spoilers.

I mean, sure Impact may have aired last night in the US, but those of us in the UK have to wait 'til Tuesday night to catch it legally on Challenge TV.

You gotta love EY sure people may want him heel and stuff but this EY is just damn funny to watch.

Although admittedly it didn't help the TV Championship but it seems TNA want the XDivision belt to over take it in what ever way, shape or form...

Yeah perhaps EY will just retain the TV title forever by getting disqualified or doing other stupid things etc etc etc for so freaking long that the title becomes utterly worthless and then it has as much worth as his world heavyweight title?

Well the 1st and last match of the show were wrestling clinics was that not good enough? I for one think it would be a downgrade if they completely eliminated stupid/funny things and storylines and made it purely sport... it'd ruin the show imo

EY doing that was the highlight of the whole show :lmao:

Dude, there are websites on wich you can watch Impact live or at least a replay of it way before Tuesday in your country. Oh and by the way if you don't want spoilers why do you come on sites like this one? Hello!!! chances are that you are going to see spoilers. Sorry, not bashing you but still;)

Now back on topic, EY having the title is not a bad thing. People were bashing TNA because the TV-Title wasn't defended on TV. Now it was defended on TV and people are still bashing TNA. Make up your minds people. :banghead:

There is a dude from where I live (Prince Edward Island Canada) by the name of "Kowboy" Mike Hughes. He is challenging Eric Young for the TNA title at a local LCW event. Not that he will get it, but it's a fun bit of trivia for those interested.

Not all title belts need to be taken "seriously" at all times. I have no issue whatsoever with this. Frankly, it was the single most entertaining aspect of Impact IMO. I laughed hysterically when he confronted Gunner in the bathroom and went over how he was going to lay down for him, and I laughed even harder when he won the title and went diving in and out of the ring, running all around laughing before grabbing both belts and taking off up the ramp. Absolutely hysterical. Added a much needed comedy bit to the show!

Go EY!

Yup it was my favorite part of the show.. I was ready to call it the best moment of the month so far... but TNA becoming Impact Wrestling was...

They did this right before the main event of RVD vs Angle... it was short... it was entertaining... and it got these guys some recognition.. along with the TV Title.. The TV Title has gained in prestige... WITHOUT A DOUBT.

This was hilarious, yes. But, you know what would be funnier? If Eric Young kept defending his two titles and winning every match with some funny antic like this. The entertainment value in those matches would excel the otherwise mediocre product. At least Eric Young's angles are as creative as they are comedic.

Eric vs Gunner segments and the fight itself were very entertaining! I was very surprise to see Eric win. I just hope that their feud is not finished and we will see more of it. I started to like Gunner and I hope that his push will continue.

He defended it here a couple nights ago for the Full Throttle '11 tour. (Against Titus from New Breed Wrestling, I believe it's called) I'm just sad that he wasn't doing autographs, and found it interesting that he wears Team Canada gear to indie shows.

I hope they keep the storyline going. To me, playing EY's crazy against Gunner's intensity is gold. I also liked the play off with Orlando, but I don't think many other people do/did. :icon_neutral:

Shoulda taken more pics. =p

Yeah, sorry I was a bit snarky there, it's just I was waiting for a download at the time it caught my eye. Still, you're right, shit like that's to be expected on a wrestling forum.

As for EY winning the strap, I'm all for it, I like the guy when he's silly. He bores me senseless when he's all serious, but daft EY is pure entertainment in my book. Also, I quite like the reactions he's getting from Gunner, that guy's face is pretty intense.

I liked it. It made me cringe a bit, but it was fair amusing.

E.Y. is the man. I would much rather see this EY than the leader of World Elite when he shaved his head and tried to be a dick. Just didn't work. Haha or when he was x-pac's replacement in "the Band" I think he's doing a great job. Good on him.

While I love EY and his gimmick for pure entertainment value, I cannot take him seriously as a legit champion. I se this as similar when comic Santino was the IC. neither is believeable to me.

Well at least E.Y is funny and TNA seems to like him enough to give him the TV title. Santino on the other hand, well WWE books him like hornswoggle (i.e total crap with a totally crappy move).

Considering the various gimmicks he's done well with over the years; from leader of World Elite, to Super Eric, to the now crazy EY, I'm surprised this guy hasn't been given much of a push. He's good in the ring, and will always put on an entertaining match. Now do I see World Title contender, not really, but perhaps an X-Division run could happen.

I actually didn't mind him in that Band role, irony of it was he did look like an Outsider.

Not a fan of EY as a dick, though. I've said it before, I firmly believe they should continue pushing him as an oddball with a crafty streak.

I think this is a good move. Young is a way better candidate for a champion than Gunner, who was better off being in that boring security guard character. I hope this leads to Young going back to his serious character. Regardless, this could lead into some good feuds and matchups because Young can be a great Television Champion if he's booked correctly.

Gotta agree here, I genuinely believe that if booked correctly and if paced appropriately, giving EY a long run with frequent defences on TV, even with Eric's goofy character could actually help bring some prestige to a belt that has undergone numerous name changes and generally meant dick-all since its inception. Seriously, has anyone ever thought that that belt mattered? At all?

Still, gotta disagree on Gunner, kid's got potential and the way they're currently pushing him is shockingly not bad considering TNA's usual creative process.
