Election Night LD

The only ethnicity with whom Trump held a majority was white people. However, I do appreciate you getting in the spirit of things by blaming ethnic minorities for things they did not cause.

OYDK wasn't blaming anyone. It was a legit question. While Trump didn't win those groups the numbers were up across the board for members of those individuals voating Republican.

CNN is still shitting themselves and trying to look like they were in Trump's corner the whole time. Two faced to say the least.
Two faced? Are you kidding me? I could make the argument Trump could NEVER have gained the steam he did without CNN. CNN gave Trump a HUGE platform and millions of dollars of free air time during the opening parts of the campaign. They hired numerous commentators whose sole job seemed to be to support Trump. They even hired Trump's own former campaign manager, whose was likely still working with the campaign.

CNN has never acted like they were in anyone's corner, they have given both sides opportunity to present their cases. And I say this as someone who watches a crapton of CNN, likely far more than anyone else on the forum.
This election made a lot of people realise how much of a fucking joke CNN is. When Fox is producing better content, you should just give up.
Do explain. Tell me why you think CNN is a joke because of this election.

Two faced? Are you kidding me? I could make the argument Trump could NEVER have gained the steam he did without .....

Sly is correct here. I go to the Right and I became so disgusted at times w/Fox that I turned to CNN for an outlet to provide Trump an opportunity.

Glad to see the neo-liberal anti-white rhetoric that caused this to happen (and submarined a perfectly fine Ghostbusters remake) is still going strong. Keep it up so the repubs can maintain a super majority well into the future as well.

Let us be frank, this is very similar to Brexit in that this is what happens when you neglect your blue collar workers, fail to make them feel like they belong and then give them enough rope to either hang themselves or someone else.

In turn, the Democratic party fell into the same pitfall as the Labour party did over here; they relied on the adversary cocking it up and they didn't. When they had the opportunity to front a different candidate who would have challenged Trump for that neglected vote, they chose to turn there nose up at it and go for the tired, tame, status quo.

People are tired of the same faces, they're tired of political dynasty's and they seek a charismatic leader who offers change. That's how Obama got elected, and in that great twist of fate, that's now how Trump got elected.

Trump won the election, no doubt, but he did not do it alone, the Democrats are suffering from several, hefty, self-inflicted wounds.

I still cannot believe the US allowed this to happen. Trump's views regarding gender and culture are disgraceful and if he represents the Average Joe, then I am well and truly speechless.

How so? I honestly find nothing so off putting it can't be forgive or explained.

Think about this; now Donald has to finish what he started.

Imagine we're at 2020, and there's no wall, the ACA is still in effect, NAFTA is still in effect, the Iran deal is still in effect, North Korea is still testing nuclear weapons and the population of undocumented immigrants hasn't gone down at all. On top of all that; he'll have to behave himself the entire time. I realize that his mannerisms are endearing to his base, but they also galvanize his opposition.

Also; fuck Alec Baldwin, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Samuel "ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER!" L. Jackson, Lady Gaga and every other dipshit that thinks they deserve to be politically influential because they can manage to look stupid in front of a camera or wear a firework bra. I really can't listen to anyone mock Donald Trump for his rhetoric when their Hollywood heroes were talking mad shit up until election day, and they're still not humbling themselves. Beyond their childish attitudes, they're reneging on a promise to leave the country.

If you promised to leave the country if Trump gets elected, get the fuck out of the country. Those same fucking idiots were screaming about how people who made the same claim if Obama was elected didn't go through with it, now they're proving that they're no better.

Whole lot of people who cried all of the cries about how Obama was treated....

ARE NOW DOING THE EXACT SAME THING.

Its easy to be the high and mighty moral authority until you don't get your way and the fit throwing begins.

Actually, it's easy to be the high moral authority when you're not a sexual predator.

The people 'throwing fits' are not doing so because a Republican won and they're a Democrat. They're doing so because 50 million people think it's ok that the president of the United States sexually assaults women and brags about it, that we are constantly told rape culture doesn't exist in this society, that women are equal, and yet more people would rather have a pervert than a woman as president. For the thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people, who brushed off his assaults as 'locker room talk' and 'just words' - would they be ok if it was their daughter, their wife he assaulted? If you voted Trump, I have no respect for you, and it has nothing to do with political party affiliation.

But its actually not that simple at all. Trying to throw in its because they would rather have that than a woman is just the kind of lazy generalization that got us here in the first place.

I understand why you are upset.

Not to mention, someone could easily ask you how you would feel about Hillary Clinton if it was your child's rapist she negotiated a plea bargain for. Or if it was you who was assaulted by her husband and she did all she could to besmirch you and drive you away from testifying.

The left turned their nose up and ignored this stuff and acted like it didn't matter....when it pretty clearly did matter.

How can anybody be surprised by this? You can squeeze that in anywhere between the transition of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Trump. Hell even farther. It'll never change. I remember watching Fox News explain to me how 9/11 was Obama's fault.

One thing we could all agree on is South Park and SNL are about to get really interesting. So there's that win.

Maybe, but then explain to me why people did vote Trump, without the absolute nonsense that 'people are tired of career politicians'.

I would love a child, but I am also so thankful I don't have a daughter, so I don't have to explain to her that despite the fact she is intelligent, and VASTLY more qualified in every way than her opposition, she won't get the job because an old, rich, white man wanted it too.

No arguments there - but, whilst Hilary's part in stopping her husband's witnesses testifying has been denounced several times, I would not have been voting for Bill. But why is Trump, who admitted sexual assault (until his women came forward, then he lied and threatened to sue), a better candidate to the majority of American's, than a woman whose husband may have attacked someone?

Never said I was suprised. Congrats on missing the point though.

Of course the exact same thing is happening....the difference is its coming from people who for years acted like they were so above it and so morally superior.

Its awesome when I provide an argument and then someone who thinks they are providing a counter point then goes and gives an example proving my point.

THIS IS WHY YOU LOST.

All of the above is lazy, head in the sand stuff that is exactly how this happened.

ITT: Folks who don't realize/know Trump's actual political views are pretty moderate.

Indeed, a lot of people on both sides are forgetting that Trump was a Democrat.

It will all come down to how much he actually cares about doing the job.

Will he attempt to act on his more middle of the road, perhaps even Democratic, leanings or will he simply bask in the power of being CinC and let the GOP run things?

He could easily look at all the work Obama put in and think "well, it got him nowhere and I am not a loser..."
