Kenny Powers said:
I'm the man who has the ball. I'm the man who can throw it faster than fuck. So that is why I am better than everyone in the world. Kiss my ass and suck my dick... everyone.

This scene is from the first episode and was the opening scene of the show. It's absolutely required viewing as it sets the tone for the series.

Now that we got the introduction out of the way...

Kenny Powers is the protagonist of the show, and all he does is go through numerous failures. He turns each failure into some type of victory however, and as much as he's a brash asshole, you root for him. He was at one point, a flamethrowing closer who notched the winning save of the World Series as an untested 19 year old. He quickly let success get to his head, however, and he wound up getting run out of the league between off-the-field controversies and declining performance. He finds himself back to his hometown, teaching middle school gym class and being miserable over it as he chases his high school sweetheart. You want to see him make it back to the Majors... and the show chronicles his struggles as he goes through misery as a gym teacher and getting ridiculed by car dealer Ashley Buchanan (a Ric Flair prototype played by Will Ferrell) and the player who gave him fits throughout his career, played by Craig Robinson.

Danny McBride (who I've been a fan of for a long time now) does a phenomenal job playing Kenny Powers. He's becoming one of the funniest actors working today, and he should be winning awards for this role. He's that good. It's a fully realized comedic performance by him.

The Season Two Synopsis:

In the Season 1 finale, Kenny is approached with an apparent offer to return to the major leagues and convinces April to break her engagement and move with him to Tampa. As they triumphantly leave town, Kenny learns that the deal was never real and silently abandons April at a gas station. In what they're officially calling "Season Dos: Deep Inside Mexico", we learn that Kenny's shame sent him south of the border, back in baseball but with only Stevie Janowski at his side.

This season is said to be darker. Jody Hill is quoted as describing it as "a cross between Amores Perros and Bad News Bears." Steve Little is the only cast member from Season 1 known to remain a regular along with McBride. Additions to the cast include Deep Roy and Marco Rodriguez.

Season 2 starts September 26th. In the meantime, here are some assorted clips from the audiobook "You're Fucking Out, I'm Fucking In" by Kenny Powers to hold you over.

This show is great. By far Danny McBride's best work to date. I must of watched the first season about five times already. Took long enough but glad season 2 is finally about to air. I just hope season 2 will be longer than 6 episodes. The only thing I don't like is that no one from the first season is in this season except Stevie Janowski. It is understandable though since this season is filmed in Mexico. I would highly suggest that anyone who hasn't seen the show watch it!! It will take a little less than three hours to watch the first season.

To say I cannot fucking wait would be the understatement of the year, as I absolutely fell in love with this show last year and have been DYING for the second season to begin since the first one ended so long ago. Danny McBride is fucking brilliant in every conceivable way as Kenny Powers, like he only had one season and he already established himself as one of the all time greatest characters in the history of comedic television, and that's all thanks to Danny McBride. Well, and Jody Hill the creator/writer/director/etc, who I've been a big fan of for awhile now. No one does hysterical dark humor like Hill does, and McBride is the perfect outlet for his sick and twisted writing.

Holy shit man I can't believe it's only a few weeks until the second season finally begins! It feels like I've been waiting for YEARS, this has felt even longer than the terrible wait in between seasons 1 and 2 of Breaking Bad, and that one got to me. Cannot wait for the season premiere, and I'll post all up in this motherfucker as soon as it's finished, if only to honor the great Kenny Powers.

Sky Pilot motherfuckers. I wish I could describe to you just how hard I was laughing when I first saw this scene during the first season, tears in my fucking eyes and my hands on my sides just from the look in Stevie's eyes.

Damn Guy, you took my thread idea. Anyways, I'm stoked for this season and I'm glad others have brought it up. I've heard that the Directors only signed off on a second season since they have other projects they are currently working on. It sounds like the only members of the returning cast are McBride and Steve Miller (Stevie Janowski). I can't wait for the debut this Sunday. Sunday night is becoming must see TV on HBO again with Boardwalk Empire and Eastbound & Down Season 2.

Everyone else has added some gems from Season 1, I don't think it will hurt to add some more comedy greatness. The Best of Kenny Powers.

I don't know how everyone else feels, but this season has been a huge letdown so far. I would have preferred to see Kenny back in the major leagues with Stevie instead of in Mexico. We found out the real reason he went down there was to find his father Eduardo Sanchez (Don Johnson). There have been a few funny moments like Kenny coming out to Hogan's theme Real American. I just can't get into this season. Last week's episode put me to sleep.

Yeah, so far I really haven't been able to get into this season. The whole "I'm running away to Mexico" thing isn't doing it for me. Stevie can be pretty funny every now and then, but the rest of the supporting cast seems so bland. The cast of supproting characters from last season were a lot more funny and entertaining. I miss John Hawkes and Andrew Daly. Katy Mixon was hot, but she could also make me laugh sometimes.

Last week's episode was boring, but now we know who Eduardo Sanchez is, so I'm hoping the show will get better now.

I have actually enjoyed this season so far, that could be because I didn't really watch the first season so I have nothing to compare to it. However, I thought the Real American entrance by Kenny was hilarious and one of the greatest things I have ever seen in television history. I have also enjoyed Pedro, The "I love to racism bro" owner, the manager, and the girl he is going after. I really think they have done a good job with what they have been given. However, I would love to see John Hawkes on the show again.

The last episode of Season 2 and probably the series is this Sunday. We get to see Kenny and Stevie go back to America while smuggling Stevie's new Mexican wife illegally into the border. It looks like Kenny will get a second shot at the majors by training in the minor leagues. Maybe we will see April and her rocking tits again this season. Should be a fun finale.

Huh? Why do you say that? HBO actually already renewed Eastbound & Down for a third season 2 weeks ago:

So there's more to come.

I've loved this season thus far, not as good as the first season, but still easily one of the most entertaining shows on television. I can't believe tonight is already the season finale, god damnit why does this show only have like 6 episodes per season? Pisses me off royally.
