DA-DA Da Da Da Bah Da Da DADADA

Kenny Powers said:I'm the man who has the ball. I'm the man who can throw it faster than fuck. So that is why I am better than everyone in the world. Kiss my ass and suck my dick... everyone.
This scene is from the first episode and was the opening scene of the show. It's absolutely required viewing as it sets the tone for the series.

Now that we got the introduction out of the way...
Kenny Powers is the protagonist of the show, and all he does is go through numerous failures. He turns each failure into some type of victory however, and as much as he's a brash asshole, you root for him. He was at one point, a flamethrowing closer who notched the winning save of the World Series as an untested 19 year old. He quickly let success get to his head, however, and he wound up getting run out of the league between off-the-field controversies and declining performance. He finds himself back to his hometown, teaching middle school gym class and being miserable over it as he chases his high school sweetheart. You want to see him make it back to the Majors... and the show chronicles his struggles as he goes through misery as a gym teacher and getting ridiculed by car dealer Ashley Buchanan (a Ric Flair prototype played by Will Ferrell) and the player who gave him fits throughout his career, played by Craig Robinson.
Danny McBride (who I've been a fan of for a long time now) does a phenomenal job playing Kenny Powers. He's becoming one of the funniest actors working today, and he should be winning awards for this role. He's that good. It's a fully realized comedic performance by him.
The Season Two Synopsis:
In the Season 1 finale, Kenny is approached with an apparent offer to return to the major leagues and convinces April to break her engagement and move with him to Tampa. As they triumphantly leave town, Kenny learns that the deal was never real and silently abandons April at a gas station. In what they're officially calling "Season Dos: Deep Inside Mexico", we learn that Kenny's shame sent him south of the border, back in baseball but with only Stevie Janowski at his side.
This season is said to be darker. Jody Hill is quoted as describing it as "a cross between Amores Perros and Bad News Bears." Steve Little is the only cast member from Season 1 known to remain a regular along with McBride. Additions to the cast include Deep Roy and Marco Rodriguez.
