Two great hardcore tag teams here, it's a shame they've never faced each other, but the 23-time tag team champions would pick up the victory whether they face them in a hardcore match or a normal tag team match as they're more successful than PE in both areas and are a more accomplished tag team.

Really? I would have thought for sure they would have crossed paths in ECW. Oh well. This one goes to the Dudley Boys pretty easily. Public Enemy was a hot act as Eastern Championship Wrestling was becoming Extreme but The Dudley Boys ended up as ECW's all time best team. Plus Bubba and D Von did well in WWE and TNA. Public Enemy struggled away from the Bingo Hall. Good match for the first round but easy decision.

They've never had a match but they did a segment together once.

At ECW's House Party 1999 on January 10, The Public Enemy made a long-awaited and much-hyped return to the ECW Arena, in order to answer the challenge of the Dudley Boyz. At the time, they were still under contract to WCW, but they successfully brawled (with assistance from New Jack) with the Dudleys. Following the showdown, Johnny Grunge grabbed the microphone and claimed that the past three years had been a "rollercoaster ride" for the team, and that "if you opened up our chest and looked at our hearts, there's only one thing stamped on it, and that's ECW!" Grunge further thanked the Dudleys for house-sitting "the house that the Public Enemy built" while they were gone, and then invited everyone in attendance to join then in the ring for a post-show celebration.

I had no idea that Public Enemy and The Dudley Boyz never faced each other, perhaps their times with ECW didn't really overlap...still a surprise though.

What isn't a surprise is the one sided result so far in the voting for the match. Yes, Public Enemy were a big deal in ECW and did help to put the company on the map, but as soon as they left Paul Heyman (who did so much to cover up their flaws- of which there were many), that they were shown up as the sub-par team they were.

The Dudleyz on the other hand are one of the best teams of all time- fantastic chemistry in the ring, phenomenal heels in ECW and great faces too plus they had so much success wherever they went. They are the most successful team both ECW and WWE ever had in terms of championship wins, plus winning titles in Japan and in TNA.

They should go far in the tournament and rightly so. This is an easy win for the Dudders in their home town infront of the hundreds of weirdly inbred Dudley family members.

Poor Ron Simmons. He was in two good teams but he came up against two of the all time best in the second round. At least he got out of the first round twice. Doom was good while they lasted but that wasn't long. The Dudley Boys were successful for years. They are probably the best team in the last 20 years.
