Ings to Liverpool, either a really good move for him or a terrible one. No middle ground.

It's an interesting move most certainly. Do Liverpool have to pay 12 million through a tribunal? If thats the case this is a bad move for Liverpool they don't need a young striker with potential they need to but a ready made player. If it's free then why not he's going to cost maybe 60k a week in wages and there is potential there to be fulfilled. My question though Lee....Is he really any better than Borini?

That's what I was thinking of, they have Borini, Lambert, Sturridge, Balotelli. For Ings he'd need to fight for his place it would seem. He'd be better suited to a lower down club for now.

I'll add that I'd have Ings at Newcastle in a heartbeat.

Exactly. FSGs policy of signing young players (whilst a good one in idea) isn't working for them really. They took a step back last season with the players they signed. This season is the one for them to come into their own and the last thing they need is more potential to hamper their progress. They need to sign some top quality players to really kick on or they will fall behind.
I was of the opinion Brendan Rodgers should be England manager in the future and one of the reasons was his man management skills. I felt he would excel there as he isn't the most acute in the transfer market. Now though I aren't sure if he should even be England manager some day as last season he seemed to lose the dressing room, he constantly hung the players out to dry and the farce of him not player the players who got them to the Bernabau in that game and instead sent out a second string 11 was a fucking disgrace and is what I believe derailed their season.

Liverpool will sell Lambert for what they paid for him. Probably to Norwich. Borini will go back to Italy unless Liverpool can convince Sunderland they still want him. Balotelli will become the wild card option unless someone in Italy takes a punt on him.

Newcastle would be a very good move for him.

Im fine with Ings as long as a proper first team striker is brought in.

But if a proper first team striker is brought in it negates the point of signing Ings considering Origi is coming back and they have Sturridge and possibily Balottelli. I think that's it on the striker front for Liverpool

Chelsea going after Falcao apparently in an effort to replace Didier Drogba. Interesting move, especially if Mou can get El Tigre to fire in the Prem come next season.

Sturridge is too injury prone to be considered a starting option for the season. If he's around it's a bonus.
Balotelli can just fuck off. He added nothing last season.
Origi is still young along with Ings. A starting striker is needed.

I think the reason he had such a stop start campaign is because he played at the olympics in 2012 I believe then i thhink he went to a under 21 tournament in 2013 if i'm not mistake then he was at world cup in 2014 so this is the first proper rest

Well that may be the reason why, but we can't put our faith in him as our number 1 striker like we did last season. One injury and we can forget about top 4. Without Sturridge our top scorer last season was Gerrard with 9 goals.

Liverpool should not be within a million miles of Falcao.

He would be another expensive punt for someone who has not yet recovered from a bad injury.

The problem is that there are very few options across Europe in the striking department. Liverpool should be trying to sign a talisman but who is there available?

Lacazette if you really wanted to go all out, but he would prefer a club with CL next season. Higuain could be prized away from Napoli seeing as they missed out on CL.
Bas Dost had a pretty good year at Wolfsberg.
As i mentioned before i wouldnt mind Icardi from Milan.
Bacca at Sevilla would be a great option but he is 28 and wont be cheap.
Those are they players who would be on my shortlist anyway.

Not the most scintillating list

Without champions league football it was never going to be. Our best bet is to try and get someone like Suarez whos one step away from being a quality player. We can't compete for the top players. But we can find someone who is a year or two away from being one.

And it was only a rumour that Lacazete went to PSG. He's still a Lyon player for now.

Tevez
Higuain
Lewandowski
Costa
Benzema
Messi
Neymar
Suarez
Bale
Ronaldo
Falcao
Ibrahimovic
Aguero
Cavani

For me, this is the upper echelon of what represents the world's striking talents right now. How many of those people would go to Liverpool? Absolutely none of them, I'm afraid. Someone like Lacazette is a good choice because he's "affordable" and just might be convinced. As far as a realistic target for Liverpool goes, Icardi is a great shout. Inter won't have European football next year, right? Might be able to swing it. I hear Munir might be available from Barcelona soon, too. He looks like a good talent and would suit both parties.

McClaren's in. I think he'll do a decent job. Better than Pardew but not trail blazing. Basically where Newcastle should be.
