WAY too big of a job for Koeman
Touted by who??Well, he was the touted front-runner before January when Messi and LE had an apparently 'huge' fallout, and he even got posed quite a few questions regarding such as well.
Managers aren't or at least shouldn't be appointed on sentimentNtm, he is a Barca legend and a 'product' of the Johan Cryuff school also.

He's had a few decent spells in charge of some dutch clubs which in the grand scheme of things aren't big clubs. When he was put in charge of a largish european club he made a mess of it and now after less than a year in charge of an english team where he has exceeded expectations you want to give him one of the biggest jobs in world football. A job where the teams star player has actively tried to get the manager sacked. Talk about throwing him to the wolves![]()
I think what needs to happen is a change in philosophies. Tiki Taka ain't working no more as we all know. What Barca needs is a manager like a Josep Guardolia who can create a tactic and modify it on the fly. And maybe a change in the presidency.

Enrique getting sacked would be more to do with keeping Messi happy. Luis actually has the team playing well right now.CMF is correct in that there needs to be some continuity. However, Barca went trophyless last season as well, so IF they were to go trophyless this year again... LE would most surely be shown the door.
Im sure a lot of managers would want to manage one of the best teams in the world, what a surprise. As for Koeman, as recently as last month, he was questioned regarding a role at Barca and has also said that he does want to manage them eventually.
No they dont. Guardiola and Vilanova are the only "in house" appointments. Enrique went off to Roma and Celta Vigo so can't be considered in house.Which is natural. Given that Barca usually look 'in-house' for their managers, and moreso in recent times especially, given the success of Pep(hence the appointment of LE), Koeman will surely be under serious consideration should the manager role become available once again, whether sooner or later.
I agree the board should walk but their problems go beyond that. The team that won them so many trophies in the late 2000's is finished and they need to rebuild(which they are in the process of doing). No great team lasts forever. All that said; the main problem with Barca is the board which has needed the boot for sometime, and are responsible for the Transfer ban that has been imposed on us by the Authorities. Until such problems are properly addressed, Barca will always be under a cloud of uncertainty.
Barca has used such a philosophy for a long long time, so there is no chance of a change as it has become a part of the club's identity.
Who can't really predict who wins the prem at the start of the season?
Chelsea/ManCity and no other real contenders given ManU's recent disappearance... so I guess there ain't any fun in Prem either(based on what you claim about La Liga)
As for the part about Europe.... I guess you admit that the "Standards of EPL" schtick is a load of BS... which was my point all along.
And using IF doesn't cut it.... in La Liga, clubs like Sevilla/Atletico/Valencia all compete in Europa with strong teams and still fight on both fronts... I guess that the inability of EPL to 'give a shit' is more along the lines of 'they can't compete on both domestic and european fronts at the same time'...
Dick Advocaat to Sunderland with Kevin Ball as assistant. The jokes write themselves.

And fuck me not everyone who once played for Barca and has shown a shred of managerial capaibility is going to be another Guardiola. Feel free to ignore the fact Koeman made a mess of the only biggish club he managed.

Bullshit. If a tactic aint working anymore because the rest of the world has figured out what to do when they come against it then you find something else. Simple as that
I never once said that English teams are stronger in Europe the point i'm making is that the EPL is more competitive
You say it's only Chelsea and Man City that people tip to win. I disagree. I know plenty of people who backed Manchester United/Arsenal/Liverpool to win the league. In Spain it's only ever been Real/Barca with Atletico been the freak exception last season. I guess the un-even distribution of T.V rights money will correct that though!
Maybe the fact that a weaker line-up gets put out in the Europa league is because English teams are confident they can progress to the very top of the EPL and into the Champions League places. In Spain the teams that compete in Europa know that they have reached a glass ceiling when it comes to their league and that the Europa is their best chance of European silverware.
As I said, IF Barca were to go trophyless, LE would be given the boot, whether he has them playing 'well' or not.
But, Enrique is "in house" regardless of him coaching elsewhere. He is a Barca Legend and a former Captain of the club. He is 'in house' as you can get, actually.
Martino was the guy who was out of house, and unfortunately he tried to tinker too much with the playing style and never was able to get over with the Camp Nou faithful.
No one is saying these other guys will be the next Guardiola, but many have a tendency to try things again and again when it hit the jackpot once... as a Wrestling fan, you should know that with all the Heel Authority figures that come up again and again in the WWE.
I do agree that we are building and that has been encouraging this season, but still, being a West Indies fan, I know that as long as the "Head" is bad, it trickles down to the other parts.
