The fact that Shane "£7 million" Long managed to take his sole chance, while the 50 million dollar man was launching a one man blitzkrieg on West Bromwich town centre had nothing to do with it, nor did Chelsea arrogantly resting some of their best players whilst playing the team that are 5th in the league away.

Re. the Zlatan vid, someone posted this:

"And the pudding in this case is that....football....err...SHII*IT did you see that!!"
he's so lucky that amazing goal saved him from the awkward moment ;)

I think they think it's real commentary.

Oh sweet I didn't realise that MK Dons had drawn AFC Wimbledon in the FA cup.

I actually agree with you to an extent. West Brom were good, and Di Matteo selected too weak a defence for this match. Ivanovic should have started ahead of Luiz. After Di Matteo announcing his interest in Falcao, I'm thinking Torres' time at Chelsea will end in the next year.

Yeah, I watched the Swansea match too.

See that £4 million that FSG set aside for Dempsey? We'll give you that for Torres.

I hear Arsenal are willing to allow Walcott to join Liverpool but only if Sterling goes in the opposite direction...

Deal.

Sterling > Walcott.

Sterling isn't going anywhere. It's agents playing up a non-story, he'll sign a new contract and then we'll sign Walcott as well.

I would take Torres for £4 million in a heartbeat. Not sure Torres would as he would be arriving back at Anfield as a #2 striker and that contributed greatly to his dire start at Chelsea.

The details I heard were Walcott + £8million for Sterling.

Liverpool should do they all they can to hang on to Sterling. He's excellent. I'm sure that if Liverpool waited awhile instead of accepting this offer from Arsenal that City or some other rich club will come along and make a stupendous offer.

Torres wouldn't necessarily relive his glory days at Liverpool now, but he'd certainly score goals just as he did in his bad patch before leaving the scousers. That is if he played ahead of Luis Suarez.

Why on earth would we sign Torres and drop the league's top scorer? Simple. We wouldn't. They could easily play together. Suarez was bought to play with Torres, not replace him.

If there is truth to the Walcott to Liverpool rumours, I hope Rodgers is looking to buy him as a striker. While he has the pace to be a winger, his final ball is atrocious, although Arsenal is not the best place to improve those skills as crossing it in is not 'pretty' enough for Wenger.

Even if Walcott is bought as a striker, I still think another is needed. Maybe someone from the lower leagues. Had Jordan Rhodes still been at Huddersfield I would have urged BR to take a punt on him; now, I doubt that Blackburn would part with him for anything less than £12million.

Having said that, I would take Torres back in a heartbeat but only for a single figure fee. Who knows, if he could get himself into the box, the slippery Suarez could lay on a real hat full of goals for him.

I agree entirely. Walcott is a good finisher and scores goals for fun but I think we need a target man-style player. Llorente would be incredible but there are lot of good players who are running down their contracts. Rhodes would have been very good but Rovers paid £8mil for him and I don't think he is setting the world on fire.

A target man is the last thing on BR's mind if his treatment of Carroll is anything to go by, especially someone the price tag of Llorente. However, the constant links with Ba suggests that BR is interested in adding someone with more of a physical presence than Suarez, Borini or potentially Walcott can offer. Would not mind testing Villa's financial position with a sneaky bid for Benteke.

Rhodes has done pretty well at the chaotic pit that is Ewood Park. 9 goals in 14 is not bad. Charlie Austin could be worth a look too.

Ba's been linked with everyone.

The sooner he fucks off the better.

Can't believe the ref tonight, Chelsea should have had 7 penalties. Gah! All 3 were offside as well.

Di Matteo gone. Must be Clattenberg's fault or the fact that the Champions League win masked that Di Matteo was never who Abramovich wanted in the first place.

If Roman was a clever man, you would think that Guardiola is all but signed.

If...

Sky Sports News are saying that Benitez is the favourite for the job. I would take that with quite a big pinch of salt though.

Funniest name I've heard so far was Alex McLeish. Love the big ginge but that's pretty ludicrous.

It would be interesting to see Guardiola manage another club though as he had a lot of history and continuity with Barcelona and their playing style. I wouldn't be that sure that Chelsea's mentality would fit in with what Guardiola was used to. Again, that's not to say he couldn't make it work, but it would be very interesting.

Statement read out on the radio this morning said that Chelsea will make an announcement "Shortly" regarding a new manager...looks like they have someone lined up. Talk Sport were saying Benitez on a 6 month deal til the summer, then Pep comes in.

I think Di Matteo has been treated very unfairly here, but this shows that he was never Roman's preferred choice, he was just looking for a reason to give him the boot even after the Champions League success.

Tony Cascarino raised an interesting point earlier that at first I thought was pretty bullshit, but the more I think about it the more I (kinda) understand. He was essentially saying that because of the pressure put on the managers to top what the previous manager has done and won, pretty much all the different managers have been able to win a trophy or two aside from Luiz Scolari.

Its not an ideal way to run the club in the long-run and a counter-argument could be that the talent on the pitch are always good enough to win big games, but it was an interesting viewpoint.

Edit - John Terry, Zola and Avram Grant are all at 20/1 to be the next manager. John Terry. Oh my.
