I'd say LFC will bid £6m for Dempsey; Fulham will want at least £10m. They will settle at about £8-9m, perhaps with the likes of Robinson or Flanigan going the other way on loan.

Think that is right on the edge of decent value for a 29 year old. I have been surprised that bigger clubs were not in for Dempsey at least 2 years ago.
All the brand name clubs in England except Liverpool had his position covered and I wouldn't call Liverpool an upgrade over Fulham these past few years. Might have been content to stay until one of the champions league clubs needed him. He is moving now probably to get the one last big contract of his career.

Not sure that Dempsey fits into Rodgers' type of play, especially if he is going to cost money. I would guess that the likes of Aquilani and even Cole might fit in better and are already there.

Still see him coming into the club, if anything, to boost American interest.

It might sound like I'm taking this piss but Barcelona should get Carroll on loan. They would have another option. If they had Carroll on the bench than I reckon they would have beat chelsea and therefore won the champions league.

I think Carroll is a good at what he does and deserves a chance at any club. When he played at the Euros he actually changed the game.

Carroll is totally unsuitable for the way Barcelona play. I'm sure I read something recently about Milan being interested in him.

AC Milan were supposedly after him on loan.

Think Liverpool getting shot of Carroll is premature. He looked a different player at the tail end of the season and, regardless of those haters who have blinkers on with regard to his style of play, when he played for England at the Euros he invariably did his job, even against Italy.

The fact that he could not link up with any of his teammates was not his fault. It was the likes of Rooney, Young and Walcott standing still looking at him as the ball came to him in the air, rather than taking a chance on a flick on or getting close to Carroll to receive a knock down.

I realise that but he would undoubtedly be another option for them. Pass pass pass pass doesn't always work. Chelsea showed that. I know Carroll will never actually go to Barca but he would be a perfect signing.

If Ibrahimovic didn't work there, Carroll wouldn't. LFC will let him go if we get a decent offer but they're going to take a massive hit. Rodgers would like to replace him. I think he would work within the squad because he has deceptive pace and if Danny Graham can work for Swansea, then Carroll isn't any worse. I'd be happy if he continued his form from the Euros this season but I dont see him staying.

There's no point Barcelona having Carroll on loan if they don't know how to play the ball to him. The only style they use is the tiki-taka pass, pass, pass, a big man like Carroll would never work. Im also against sending him on loan to milan. Weve been screwed twice by italian clubs already with aquaman, the same thing will end up happening at Milan.
It can't be great for Carrolls confidence to see the club talking about getting hid of him just after him showing some good form. Were better off keeping him and giving him a chance rather then taking a 20-25 million hit on him.

Zlatan scored 22 goals and made 13 assists in 46 games for Barcelona. In what realm is that not succeeding?

They got rid of him because a) he's a prick b) Villa was available and c) Guardiola is totally stubborn to his method and totally unwilling to compromise. The people saying he is one of the managerial greats should remember that, while they are forced to listen to Gary Neville's commentary of Fernando Torres' goal over and over again, while images of Barcelona passing it about the 18 yard box for half an hour before Branislav Ivanovic ***** it up the pitch and they start again are shown on a loop.

Not that I think Andy Carroll will be playing for Barcelona any time soon.

It seems absurd they're even considering getting rid of him given our other striking options are Suarez, who's guaranteed to be banned at some stage, OAP Olympian Craig Bellamy, and Nathan "5 goals in 37 League One games" Ecclestone. Even Dempsey arriving would not make Carroll unnecessary.

Newcastle United have placed a bid for Andy Carroll.

I feel kinda sorry for Andy Carroll.. Bought for £35m, which even he knows hes no where near worth, been told he isn't part of Brendan Rogers' plans and that Liverpool want to sell him, Carroll saying he doesn't want to leave but will 'reluctantly' leave on loan, which Liverpool aren't willing to do! Guy just cant catch a break.

I've seen two prices one of £13mil and one of £17mil but here's a thing: The contract had a 25% sign on clause. So if we bid £17mil then we'll pay £13 due to the reduction.

There's no transfer offer. It's a season long loan with an option to buy. Still, I'm not happy that we are looking to ship him out. Borini should be good but still.

And Tasty, Eccelston was released by the club. So other striking options include untried guys with even less experience than League One.

There has been, it's a season long loan with an offer to sign permanent after the 12 months for the fees quoted.

Well it's been rejected.....I'm kinda surprised but I can only assume it's a delaying tactic.

BBC are saying the bid falls short. I would expect that they want Newcastle to cover his wages and improve the fee option?

It hasn't, here's an exclusive picture of Ashley, Pardew and Carroll:

I watched Borini a lot when he was at Swansea. I remember thinking "he looks like one of those players who's shit but always scores", like James Beattie or something. As long as he's in scoring form.

Liverpool are giving Cole and Aquilani a chance, despite neither of them doing anything, while Carroll has looked better than he has done at any point since he left Newcastle in the last couple of months. I'll be sad to see him go if he does.

To be fair Cole did OK at France last season. Aquilani could fit into the 3rd midfield spot in Rodger's system since Liverpool didn't get Sigurdsson. Carroll could fit into the system as a plan b but keeping a 35m striker on the bench is hard to swallow.

We sold AC for 35million.

Since then we bought:
Mehdi Abeid free
Demba Ba free
Cabaye 4.3mil
Marveux free
Obertan 3.25mil
Santon 5mil
Elliott 300,000k
Cisse 8 mil
Romain Amalfitano free
Gael Bigirimana 500k

=21.35mil.

We could afford to buy Carroll for 13.65mil and break even. But here's the clincher: The AC deal had a 25% sell on clause so we could actually bid just over £17mil and break even.

:lmao:

Chelsea are paying £25M for a 20-year old Brazilian attacking midfielder named Oscar. Let's hope that he doesn't go out loan, and that if he does, he actually returns to Chelsea.
