Domestic football - spam version

Seems to me that RDM is pissed off with the "defensive" tag that have been labeled on Chelsea and he is trying to get rid off this. They could do with another defender but all his signings are attacking.

Except Liverpool didn't pay 35 million up front. If we sold him now, then the club lost no more than 20 million, max. Far from great but not awful. Plus I'm sure any sell on clause would be negated if we sold him back.

It's a moot point. Liverpool have told Newcastle that they want to sign a replacement before Carroll goes. Look for Ba or Sturridge to us soon.

Andy Carroll will take a wage cut to return to Newcastle if the two clubs manage to agree a deal. However the player's agent has reiterated to Liverpool's MD Ian Ayre and manager Brendan Rodgers that his client does not want to leave Anfield and would instead prefer to fight for his place in the team.

Aston Villa are trying to negotiate a transfer fee with Liverpool for a permanent transfer. If a fee is agreed, Carroll will be free to discuss a possible move. Whether or not he'd take it is another matter.

This is the latest update from the site I use. He's going to go.

I'm going on record declaring Oscar a dumb signing who will never work out in the premiership. The last thing Chelsea need right now is another small, inexperienced attacking midfielder.

Apparently Oscar is a major talent. Chelsea can't be the right place for him to mature though, if he does join he must go to somewhere like PSV on loan or something. PSV still have a link agreement with Chelsea I think?

He's played like 50 professional games in his entire career. The track record of young, small Brazilians getting dropped into pro-schedules like the premiership is not a very good one. Hulk would have worked, he had experience performing at the right level and might even have been worth the 40m asked. Oscar is a bad alternative.

It is for this very reason that I don't want United to sign this Lucas bloke we've been linked with. Especially at the prices talked about.

Also, £5 million for Berbatov is a steal for someone. Always loved him at United, one of my favourite players to watch and it makes me very sad he wasn't given much of an opportunity last season. Best first touch in the Premier League.

I've been thinking about this. Lucas is probably the best young Brazilian to make it in any of Europes' big leagues since Kaka. And even he took 3 seasons to get good, 4 to become great.

It was an absolute joke that he was in the 2010 World Cup squad, when you are required to play several times in quick succession if you advance in the tournament. Capello should never have taken a player incapable of that, no matter how good he is.

I said straight away King would barely feature, and yep, he got injured right away. Waste of a spot in the squad.

Still, he was a class player when fit and its a shame that he suffered so many injuries over his career, 31 is no age to retire really. A very good captain too.

If Zola manages to pull that off it would be immense.

Inzaghi and Del Piero have always been heroes of mine and it would be amazing to see them play against Bolton next year if this deal came off.

It would be a shame to see ADP and Pippo dropping to Championship level after being at the absolute peak of the game their whole careers, I think they should probably retire, or head to Quatar or USA.

I sold my Olympic football tickets as soon as I saw the squad, I'm relieved. Poor manager, wanker of a captain, 3 past it players and a bunch of kids no-one cares about.

Because Craig Bellamy is an integral figure to the team that came 8th in the Premier League last year, and Giggs and Richards competed for the title. Beckham has played 16 games this season for the team currently 10th in the MLS. Before anyone says "well, he did so much to win the bid, so deserves a reward." Seb Coe did a lot fucking more, so I expect to see him line up in the 800m. He also has a long history of bottling it in international tournaments.

Hi! I'm new to soccer and want to subscribe to this thread for reasons. Can someone give me a general list of things I need to know? Like, umm, when does the regular season start and the like? Team/club nicknames, rivalries, etc. I'm Texan/American, so bear with me.

Oh, cut my veins and I bleed blue...

Liverpool are from the city of Everton and play at Highbury.

They hate Celtic, local rivalry n all that.

Have to laugh at SAF talking about how Chelsea are not getting value for money on the likes of Hazard (which I agree with) but at the same time being dragged out to paying perhaps £30+ million for Lucas Moura.
