Domestic football - spam version

He was suspended. Any company that suspends someone will say "You're suspended for x amount of days, your review is on this date". It's up to Poyet whether or not he chose to be a pundit on the day in question.

There's a golden line in Iron Man 2 that Mickey Rourke has (yeah, I know, I'm surprised too) about making God bleed or some such. I'd apply it to this drubbing Spain are getting except I've said it for years; they could only bully via possession for so long before someone battered them into submission.

I think that maybe they've finally been worked out. Italy outworked them, gave them absolutely no time on the ball and they couldn't deal with it. Brazil have done the same and spanked them.

I think it is just that Xavi has gotten older or a drop of his previously imperious form. Teams have less fear of the split second counter attacks launched by his passing. Pique's drop in form has also limited Barcelona's/Spain's ability to cover for the cavalier full backs.

Those teams are no longer invincible, but still a heck of a good team. Spain still has really good depth in the team. Might work out well for them. Teams being unafraid to attack them means they have more chances to counter attack instead of labouring to carve out chances against 10 men behind the ball every match.

As long as it sees a return of the entertaining version of tiki taka and not the boring version that has predominated in the last couple of years.

At times, Barcelona and Spain have made me change the channel.

"What's that? You had 85% possession? That is fantastic! How many did you win by? What? You lost 1-0 and only had 2 shots on goal? Get to fuck."

Lets sell the only player who gave 100% last season to Wigan, that'll make sense.

Joe Kinnear :lmao:
“Every top club in the land has got one,” Kinnear told the Gazette.

“We haven’t – that’s the difference. The manager can’t do everything.

“I’m probably the only football manager to be a director of football.

“I don’t know any other ex-managers who have. I’ve been a manager for 35 years. I’ve been Manager of the Year. I’ve won every award there is in football as a player.

“I think all those qualities put me head and shoulders above every other director of football.”
:lmao: This is going to be a long season for Lee.

Here's the same with notes from the unofficial website:

"Every top club in the land has got one (a director of football). We haven’t – that’s the difference. The manager can’t do everything.

"I’m probably the only football manager to be a director of football. I don’t know any other ex-managers who have (Dennis Wise? David Pleat? Kenny Dalglish?)

"I’ve been a manager for 35 years. I’ve been Manager of the Year. I’ve won every award there is in football as a player (excluding mere trinkets like a domestic league championship or any individual awards...)

"I think all those qualities put me head and shoulders above every other director of football.

"Some directors of football have never played the game - Im lending my experience as a manager for all those years - 10 years at Wimbledon+, two years at Nottingham Forest#, two years winning promotion at Luton and, of course, almost two years at Newcastle*.

+ in reality, 7 years and 2 months
# in reality, 10 months
*in reality, 137 days

"I would still be there had it (the heart attack) not occurred.”

He clearly is not qualified to be in that position. He seem like a relic but I sometimes do feel bad about laughing at him. He is after all a really old dude and a heart attack survivor.

When he first was announced someone on Twitter stated all of the Geordies would receive letters telling us to play along to help an old senile man live his dream.

Imagine a Dortmund line-up with Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Gündoğan, Piszczek, Błaszczykowski and Papastathopoulos... You'd feel bad for the commentators.

Liverpool should call Arsenal's bluff and accept. Something tells me the transaction wouldn't be completed for various reasons.

I think £40m would be plenty for Suarez if the market was acting normally but with the likes of Cavani, who is not better than Suarez, going for £55m and the truly crazy figures being bandied about for Bale, I am not surprised that Liverpool are holding out for more.

Time for another season of mixed emotions for us over at Dundee United. I get the sinking feeling that despite some solid movement in the transfer market, McNamara is going to drop the ball, particularly seeing as we've got his old club, Partick Thistle on the opening day of the season. I'd like to think of myself as a glass half full kinda guy though so I'll say we're going to have a top half finish and a couple of solid cup runs but nothing overly spectacular. That's be nice for a season of rebuilding.

The comments of Liverpool and their fans during the Luis Suarez saga is bewildering.

Brendan Rogers: "Why would you leave Liverpool to go to Arsenal?"

Liverpool fan: "Santi Cazorla is your only decent player. Going to Arsenal would be a step down for Suarez."

Are they really in such deep denial about their own club?
