It's probably denial but didn't Arsenal fans feel the same about RVP. That they would be ok to see him go abroad but going to a domestic rival is a kick in the teeth.

But its Real or nothing for him in my eyes and Arsenal would be a step sideways, that would only add to his hypocrisy.

The difference with the RVP thing is that Arsenal fans were hating on the player for wanting to leave rather than Man United or Man City for trying to buy him, even before he was sold.

Liverpool fans are just hating on Arsenal. But Suarez could do more for Arsenal than he does for Liverpool. With a world class striker and another good addition or two, Arsenal go from outsiders to genuine title contenders. Even with someone as good as Suarez, Liverpool are still mediocre.

Time for another season of mixed emotions for us over at Dundee United. I get the sinking feeling that despite some solid movement in the transfer market, McNamara is going to drop the ball, particularly seeing as we've got his old club, Partick Thistle on the opening day of the season. I'd like to think of myself as a glass half full kinda guy though so I'll say we're going to have a top half finish and a couple of solid cup runs but nothing overly spectacular. That's be nice for a season of rebuilding.

I'm certain, that with Goodwillie, you'll finish second. Aberdeen and Inverness could challenge but ultimately United should finish best of the rest.

As for Suarez, I don't think Liverpool fans should be overly bitter. He plays for a team that finishes 7th and he is moving to a team that finished 4th. Liverpool as a football club stood by him but that is only natural. They were hardly going to through him under the bus.

That's just plain wrong mate. Suarez has been courting Real for weeks now. He would have been there if they had the stones to put in an offer but it's not how they do things. That's a known fact. It's the same for Bale.

Arsenal need a lot more than Suarez to be anywhere near the title pack. They got very lucky in the CL chase last season and they simply haven't improved their squad despite it being widely known that they have the cash. They squandered and dallied on Higuain and I still don't think the Suarez thing is serious. They won't stump up the kind of cash that is needed to get him.

Liverpool are a lot better than mediocre. The last four games of the season showed that. We've made some excellent deals so far this summer and are only four players away from a significantly improved first XI.

To be fair most Liverpool fans are being so delusional because selling Suarez to Arsenal will basically eliminate any small hope there is of getting 4th spot in the next 5 years. Losing a player so good you won't be able to replace is one thing but selling him to the team that is perceived as the weakest of the top 4 is just madness. It's the equivalent of Totenham selling Bale to Arsenal. A lot of fans would rather not accept the fact that Liverpool may become a top 8 team for years to come, that's understandable.

I get the feeling madrid may not be interested in Suarez at all, there's been nothing concrete from them about their interest. Just reports that Suarez would like to go there.
There's also the fact that Suarez is the complete opposite of a galactico seeing as he's not near as marketable as Ronaldo, Kaka, Ozil or Benzema. Especially when they could get media darlings Bale or Rooney instead.

I don't think Real are interested. They sold Higuain because they didn't need him, they're not likely to buy someone older for more money.

Four out of 11 is more than a third of the first XI...

Any team can say they are four players away from a significantly improved first XI...

Crap, I didn't realise you were a Liverpool fan. Okay, let the destruction of our friendship begin.

Arsenal do need more than Suarez, but not much more. We've finally got our defence sorted out, as shown by having the best home defence record and the 2nd best overall defensive record in the league last season. These stats show that it's goal scoring that's the problem for us, so a good striker, a creative winger or midfielder and an anchorman in front of the back four would make us title contenders. And the 4th place had nothing to do with luck. We won our matches, Spurs didn't, simple as that.

A four game run doesn't mean your team is good. Norwich and Swansea both had good runs at certain points in the season. Hell, West Brom were in the top six for ages. But all three of those teams are mediocre. How good your team is doesn't come down to a strong run for a couple of months in the season. It's about how well you do in 38 matches. And Liverpool weren't that good.

And Liverpool fans are always saying they're on the verge of being back in the Champion's league thanks to their great signings. They've said it about the likes of Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing, two very average signings.

I respect Liverpool, but they're not good enough for the Champion's League yet.

Why on earth are Newcastle still after Loic Remy after he behaved like such a prostitute 7 months ago? Fuck him, he can suffer in the Championship.

Because the alternative is Shola Ameobi and another stiker who's just acted like a prostitute?

I'd take Shola over someone who was coming to Newcastle until QPR offered more money. Fuck Loic Remy, I want Darren Bent.

I would withhold judgement on Remy's move to QPR until I found out exactly what he was paid.

If they offered him substantially more than what Newcastle were then he be mental not to take it and live in London.

The Championship highlights aren't as good as MOTD, but seeing Barton turn out for QPR is quite funny, and can only mean that the Premier League will return soon enough.

Are we doing fantasy football again this year? I found playing that whilst not watching a single minute of actual football to be surprisingly fun.

I love how 'Arry pretty much said "I can't stop Joey doing what he wants".

I'm sure we will be. If no one has done it by next weekend I'll set the league up.

Comments from the QPR manager, Thursday:

"I don’t think he (Loic Remy) will go on loan. I can’t see any sense in it. I don’t know why we’d pay £8million and then loan him out. If he was to go, someone will have to pay for him. He has a buy-out clause and we want our money back.”

Comments from the QPR manager, Friday:

"If someone wants to loan him or buy him, they’ve got to pay the going price because he’s a top class player - and £2m is a quarter of his four-year contract."

AVB is about to become a hero or look really stupid, as he's essentially just told Real Madrid to fuck off and that Bale isn't for sale.

I hope it's hero. Real have been less than graceful in their praise for the man, although it's not all that much of a surprise. Obviously I'm biased on wanting him to stay, but I'm assuming that there's enough communication between Levy and AVB that they were certain before he said this. Time will tell.

I hope so too, I'm pretty fucking sick of Real Madrid thinking they can buy whoever they want and bully clubs into selling their players. Just once I want someone to tell them to fuck off.

I was working on my Fantasy team last night, still got some work to do on it. I've somehow got a damn good team for under 92mil.
