Right then, where do I start.
The Burnley game was a joke. Two games left to save our season and we go and play like that. There as no backbone, no urgency, no passion, nothing - even when Burnley went down to 10 men. Laughable. In a weird way it made sense, because it basically just sums up our entire season. The scenes at the end of the game were disgraceful to be perfectly honest, but I wouldn't expect anything less from some of the fickle ***** that call themselves "fans" of this football club. I'm not going to condone their behaviour or what they tried to do to Morgan/Moxey, but the bottom line is that those two are destroying this club. The stadium expansion, the abuse towards players & manager, lack of respect, neglecting the fans, ridiculous wages for players, bogus transfer policies, having 4 managers in the space of 12 months, oh, and the constant reminder that we're nothing more than a settlement prize because the cunt couldn't get what he wanted up at Liverpool. Disgusting. I could go on and on, but simply put, this decline is just going to continue with these wankers at the helm. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again - we never should have gotten rid of Mick, followed by the unexplainable hiring of TC as manager.
This season has been so, so painful to experience - even worse than last season. If you'd have told me 9 months ago that we'd be locked in a relegation battle with Peterborough and fucking Barnsley heading into the final day, I probably would've pissed on your seemingly illogical bonfire and had a quick chuckle while doing so. There is no excuse. Morgan & Moxey are bellends, yes, but with the players we've got in this team, the prospect of relegation from the Championship should be absolutely inconceivable. We've chopped and changed the squad numerous times throughout the season, and nothing has worked. We've proven that we can beat the best that this divison has to offer, but the combination of poor tactics, lazy management, lazy players & a distinct lack of leadership and confidence has led us to the position we're in now. I could try blaming injuries, but we've got more than enough decent reserves and youth talent to make up for those injuries. Why haven't we given some of the best young prospects I've ever seen at the club a chance? Maybe then we can get some players on that pitch that actually give a shit about the club and the fans.
If we do go down, summer is going to be so, so brutal. The majority of the top players at the club will inevitably leave, numerous fickle fans will get on the club's back even more than usual, and we'll have the embarrassment of having to play in the third tier of English football just 18 months after playing in the Premier League. Maybe, just maybe we can give some of the younger kids a go in the first team, so that we can finally have a team we can connect with and really get behind.
Saturday could be one of the darkest days in the club's recent history, and alot of people are already writing us off. Despite my negative approach in the earlier parts of my post, I'm not one of those people. I've seen this club do some amazing things in my lifetime - stay up on the final day due to an 87th minute wonder goal, go on a 20+ game unbeaten run in the league, and beat United, City, Chelsea & Liverpool all in the same season (aswell as beating all 3 of our Midlands rivals). Call me crazy, but I don't think survival this Saturday is beyond us.
The important thing for us on Saturday is to focus on our own game. Away against Brighton, a team that might still fighting for 4th, isn't ideal - I know that. That's why I'm praying that Palace lose to Millwall on Tuesday, because that way Brighton will have 4th wrapped up before our game so they might rest players, and Palace will still be fighting for their place in the play-offs when they place Peterborough on the final day. Whatever the case, we need to come flying out of the blocks and we desperately need an early goal to pile the pressure onto Barnsley & Peterborough. For Barnsley we just need them to lose, so I'm hoping that Huddersfield do us a favour. Meanwhile with Peterborough we need that 4/5 goal swing, which is what makes Palace's game against Millwall extremely important. We've got the quality in this squad to pull this off, so I'm just hoping that those ***** put their hearts and souls into those 90 minutes on Saturday. All we can do is win, hopefully by a couple of goals, and pray that the footballing gods smile down upon us.
I've supported Wolverhampton Wanderers for most of my life, and I've experienced alot of jubilation and alot of heartbreak in that time, so all I can hope for is that we pull off a miracle of Saturday. I know just how disastrous relegation would be, I mean, I experienced it less than 12 months ago. I've poured everything I have into this club, and I know that alot of people think we're virtually down, but until it's made official I'll still believe. Fuck it, we can do this. Even if we don't - I'll still follow this club through thick and thin.
Wanderers til I fucking die. UTW.
