Domestic football - spam version

I was sat in front of an American who didn't ever stop talking at Fulham. At first it was incredibly annoying, but ended up being quite charming. Jems included:

"Possess! Possess! Possess!" ad infinitum
"Aw man, they're just playing kickball now, they need to possess"
"When I played in college, we weren't as good as this" thus confirming that the US college football league is worse than the Premier League, for anyone who wasn't sure of that.
"The AR needs a talking to" (I assume this means Assistant Referee)
"Frei them!"
"Possess!"
"Hey!" every time there was a shot.
"Oooooohhh" about ten seconds after the rest of the crowd did following a chance.

It's the closest I've ever seen to this:

Fucking FA need shot. Calling off a game due to a tube strike? Fucking hell.

Yes we were raped for 20 minutes but we had two away games in three days. So much for a level playing field.

Real Madrid will comfortably knock Man United out of the Champions League. There's so many reasons, I won't bother explaining why.

After trying so hard to get him a move so they can get paid, it sounds like Ba's advisors are becoming so greedy as to potentially price him out of a move. How can a £7 million asking fee become £12 million?

The same Real Madrid that have looked a shadow of their former selves for most of this season? They'll need to play at least as well as Bilbao did against us last year and they haven't really got close to that level yet.

It'll be a cracking couple of games thought, that's a given.

They're also wanting 80K a week for him.

The problem is Ba has about 5 or so agents. When he signed for Newcastle one of them wasn't told and was actually in a meeting with Everton whilst the deal with Newcastle had been finalised.

Meanwhile Dundee United's season continues to be exceedingly mediocre. Lucky for us that our neighbours are dreadful otherwise we'd potentially be in a bit of bother.

Their struggling form in the league and the increasing liklihood that they won't be winning it is what will give them strength in the Champions League. Borussia Dortmund have the same advantage. Also, have you seen Mourinho's record against Ferguson? It's one-sided to say the least. Pile on top of that, Man Utd's ongoing defensive woes and rather weak midfield then Madrid are definitely favourites.

As for Chelsea signing Ba, I don't agree with it. Him being there is probably going to upset Torres, and he's not really good enough to replace him. I'm not saying Torres is a better striker, but Ba isn't title-winning No.9 material. The only positive is that Chelsea may not pay a ridiculous amount of money for a player this time, and GIVE LAMPARD A CONTRACT YOU FOOLS!

Can't argue with Mourinho's record, but last time United faced a Mourinho team, they beat them.

Defensively, Madrid have proved to be far from impregnable this season, especially on the counter-attack which could play to United's strength - see the recent City - United game.
Bear in mind also that the first game is about 6 weeks away or so and a lot can happen in that time; injuries could affect either team and they could both get some work done on their defence.

Again, I'm not saying United will definitely win or trounce Madrid, but if the players continue to have spats with Mourinho and the camp doesn't settle itself down then the task for United isn't as imposing as it would have been, say, last season.

If Mourinho is leaving Madrid at the end of the season, then he'll really want to win the Champions League. I'm thinking that Mourinho will use the league as an example of what happens when he and the squad quarrel thus provoking them to put aside their differences if they want to win the Champions League. It won't bring about the unity that was at Porto or Chelsea but at least they'll focus on the pitch for a change. An unsettled Madrid managed to beat Man City and take a point from them at the Etihad. Over two games, a settled Madrid will definitely beat Man Utd.

Wow London's fireworks for the transfer window opening was a bit OTT.

If we get Erik Pieters we could sing pass to the Dutchy on the left hand side, pass Debuch on the right hand side.

I met Jordan Rhodes today and he just oozes class and elegance and best of all he is down to Earth. It's not much to say this, but he really is Scotland's future when it comes to football.
