Dolph Ziggler's Look

Are you judging him on his look? Or on his new attitude/aggressiveness. When he used to come to the ring, he was hyping himself, slicking his hair back and what not, now or today at least, he was all business going to the ring. People are going to start taking him more seriously and he'll be in a title picture very soon.

I agree it should not be about his look rather his aggressiveness in the ring, when I first seen his new look i was like oh ok but then when he got in the ring I took him more serious than i have in the past. This is a dolph ziggler I can buy as champ. I would like him to keep some of his old mannerisms but continue with the extra aggressiveness he showed on monday. Then in a few months I would definitely accept DZ as a credible contender/champ.

Honestly it was done for all the flak he was getting for being the new billy gunn..was that a bad thing no.. but now he does look like generic buff man #5 he should have changed it a little bit but not to this.

Just throwing this out there...
Let's say the E wants to kinda "grow" out of the whole PG era thing, wouldn't it be awesome if Ziggler was showcased in the turn to a more edgy promotion again by going apeshit on Vickie with a chair? i'm talking Foley/Rock at the Rumble type, complete with blood. It would get him over, definately bring some controversial attention form outside sources if its graphic enough, and maybe even be stepping stone fro a character change for him. I know its a pipe dream but that would be sick.

I'm not sure really. It worked for Austin and others and got people to take them more seriously but because of the lack of characters and gimmicks in todays WWE I don't personally like the change. I have not seen if he acts any different since the change because I have not watched WWE for a couple weeks but based purely on looks..no I prefered when he stood out aesthetically.

I think this is a better look for Ziggler because his former style made him look strange, whereas now he appears more intimidating in the ring and it fits his status of a former world champion better. I don't miss his old look and hope he uses this new look to develop himself into a more serious heel and get in a few impressive wins in the future.

It's true. I tried to give the new look a chance, but it's been a few weeks and I still barely recognize him. His reaction is completely, utterly dead. Zero. He was a heat magnet during his World Title feud on Smackdown, a fully credible upper midcard heel. 100% gone on RAW. The new look isn't the only reason, but it's the biggest reason.

They did the gimmick switch to set up a face turn, but it backfired. They should have just pulled the trigger with his old gimmick. Now they have to start from ground zero.

Yep they fucked it up by giving him the same generic psycho overhaul they use on everyone. I can't beleive it really, they gave him a shit name and he got past it, they buried him against Rey and he got past it, they even fucked him over with the world title and he was getting past that so why in the world would they try and change something that works.

i also noticed that he changed his in ring style on his match monday.... might be wrong on this but he use to have a quicker pace, and monday he just punched, kicked, and stomped santino. he just walked around the ring too like some big lumbering oaf

Yeah they are just trying to make him Randy Orton version 2 and it sucks. He was so awesome before, especially when he was using the sleep hold as his finisher.

I don't agree with him being COMPLETELY ruined because his wrestling style is still as unique as it was before. I'll say right now that his look if VERY bland, and his haircut looks like what some 1980's movie villain would have.

Hes probably just doing that because Santino is a big joke.

They messed him up so damn bad >__<, i mean i never liked him too much but i didn't mind watching him and his feud with edge was genuinely entertaining. Now with his new look i barely recognize him and he has lost any crowd reaction he has gained in the past. Even the human heat machine vickie isn't helping him much anymore.

Yes they have ruined him. I said a few months ago on another forum that WWe should have put the strap on him after the royal rumble. But look at him now? I don't understand how he can't even be considered for the number 1 contenders match but rey mysterio can. WWE first ruined shelton benjamin and MVP. Then they ruined Carlito and Kaval. Then they ruined Ted dibase and Drew mcintyre. Now they have ruined Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. But this is what WWE does isn't it? They ruin there young talent now and take the title off guys who deserve it. They are too consumed with the notion of established guys must have the title 24/7. They are pushing R truth right now but he will be the next one to be dumped in the back. Has anyone seen Evan Bourne? Tyson Kidd? Anyone from the Nexus? Scarred writers= Stale product and that is exactly what is going on now in the wwe. When Jericho won the heavyweight title NO ONE SAW THAT COMING. The writers weren't scarred then because they knew that in the long run putting the strap on him right then and there, especially over the Rock and Austin would put him over for years. They did the same thing with Brock Lesnar. Why can't they do that with Ziggler? Dolph Ziggler was with the "orginal" micheal cole. Someone who got a crap load of heat without being in the ring (vicki Guerrero). He "won the title" and lost it within 24 hrs....hmm...does that sound familiar? I think Christian thinks so. Now he is getting to the point where Benjamin, MVP and carlito were before they had enough, designated midcarder/jobber. Damn shame its happening but it is but he shouldn't be surprised. He was in the Sprit Squad...he can always go talk to Kenny to see how he should deal with it.

Drew Mcintyer (however you spell it), Del Rio, and yes Zigler are all being ruined...Sheamus and Wade Barrett to.. none of these guys are being used right and Cena/Orton as champs shows WWE has completely dropped the ball with the new talent getting title runs...

jack swagger? what a joke

I not a Ziggler fan but he was amusing; I don't know why the "E" went with the generic look. I thought the ideal was to be unique. Now he really sucks. They need to find a way to change his character back before it's too late because this is not working.

I definitely agree, his look is SO bland now, and also, his in ring style has changed. Instead of chain grappling, and technical moves, I see bull shit punches and stomps. That shit belongs to Sheamus or Mason Ryan, not talented Technicals like Dolph Ziggler.

I personally didn't care about the hair cut, but what crossed the line for me is when he went from bleach blonde to brown hair. They could have just cut the hair and not dyed it. Now whenever he comes on I have no idea who he is and have to listen to the announcers say it's him. That's not star power.

It's such a shame because I felt he was really starting rise, especially with the World Title feud with Edge earlier this year.

His new look stinks. His old look made him distinct and unique and he portrayed the arrogant slime ball real well.

Before WrestleMania XXVII, he had a match with Morrison on Raw and those two together was pure magic when they were on form. Compared with that, mondays performance wasn't anything to get excited about.

And, is it just me, but when he had his old look I couldn't help but think his style had similarities to Billy Gunn when he was in his heyday. I don't just mean the fameasser, just his overall demeanour.

Have you seen who they hired recently...A soap opera writer. What is it that all Soap Opera stars have in common? They all look a like. Hmmm....WWE dropped wrestling, and went soap opera style with their product. That is what happened.

If new-and-improved means looking like a generic jobber with no personality, then I'd rather not improve, lol, this is terrible. This was exactly what I didn't like about Drew McIntyre at first, but then he started showing personality and getting more interesting to watch in the ring. But then again, he's been demoted quite a bit these last several months. So maybe boring and cliche is WWE's idea of entertainment. Cripes, WWE confuses me!

With the "NEW" haircut / color, Ziggler does favor Orton. I could've sworn he did the psycho hit the mat thingy that Orton does and then caught himself. so he stopped. It's like he's been told to become Orton version 2 like someone said earlier.

WWE didn't ruin any of the guys you mentioned.

MVP - Left on his own, ironically his final match was a Title Match, ANOTHER attempt at WWE trying to help him rise up.
Carlito - Had just gotten back together with Primo and Ted DiBiase, fucked himself over with The Wellness Policy & got fired.
Benjamin - Bland as fuck on the mic. Was never going to go anywhere without mic skills.
Kaval - Couldn't handle the schedule & left.
McIntyre - Completely uninteresting. Ok on the mic & in the ring, but noone gives a shit about him.
DiBiase - Boring as shit. He's trying to live off his dad's gimmick and it isn't working at all.
Swagger - World Title Reign didn't work out so they had to put him back in the midcard. It's not like he's irrelevent right now.
Ziggler - Still winning matches and showing he's still dominant in the ring atleast.

As for people like Nexus, Bourne, Tyson ect., well there are these people called jobber's who are used to make others look more impressive in the ring between fueds and during fueds. Either that or they have matches on Superstars. Sorry to break it to ya...

WWE's always putting the title on established guys 24/7? Like last year after we had Rey as champ, Swagger as champ, Kane as champ, Christian as champ, and Ziggler as champ, Edge as champ, with people like Del Rio, Punk, & Taker challenging before we just got back to Orton after he hadn't had a title for about 7 months? While on Raw We've had Sheamus(who's already getting a slight push on SD! since last week), Miz, & Orton as champ before getting back to Cena with people like Jericho, Barrett, & Morrison challenging before getting back to Cena after 10 months.

like someone mentioned earlier his "new and improved" look is pretty shit. I think they could have gotten away with cutting it but keeping it bleach blond. Now whenever he comes out looks like Orton 2.0 lol And to be honest, I dunno if I'm the only noticing it, but whenever he comes out now he looks legit pissed off about the haircut. I hope if it stays short, they at least act like no one noticed and just dye it back blond. He looks bigger for some reason. Even when he was Nicky in the Squad his hair looked better. Its like an unnatural brown that just looks weird. He is a natural blond so just change it back

His new look has killed a lot of his appeal to me. He's never really managed to get heat on his own which is why Vickie is still with him. So they tried changing his look, and it hasn't really worked. They're trying to make him look aggressive, but all I see is a guy with a terrible haircut. He needs to get that hair back, because this hair won't take him anywhere. His look was perfect for a "Mr. Perfect" like gimmick and I think it's time he used that look. Dump Vickie, Get your hair back, and personify your theme song. Thanks Dolph.

I disagree somewhat with the "generic" tag being thrown around here. He doesn't look generic, he looks more, NORMAL, I guess. Like someone who you would actually expect to see somewhere out in the world. Albeit, he's built better than most all of us sitting here, he looks like a more normal person. I could never get past his stringy white hair. He didn't scream "legitimate" to me for some reason, and I have to say it was because of that mop-style hair of his. He looked like a mid-card jobber to me, even in the title picture, that's all he reminded me of.

Like some throwback to the 80's that wanted you to hate him because he was better than you in his own mind. Now, he strikes me as a more serious competitor, based on looks alone. The shorter, darker hair (to me) makes him look larger in the ring somehow. I don't know why, but it does.

Now all he needs is some mic time, because he's certainly not terrible on the mic. Let him feud with some faces that get a good pop, and you'll see his star start to rise again. He's a good performer who has some incredible athletic ability that rarely gets spotlighted.

As for a name change, he could keep Dolph, lose Ziggler and blame the last name on Vicki when he eventually kicks her to the curb.
